Favorite Inversion

Recommended Posts

1. Batman: The Chiller's top hat. It just did some really messed up (in a good way) things that the Mr. Freezes (while still good) don't do. Hopefully the ride will get rebuilt some day.

2. Batman & Robin: The Chiller's heartland/zero g roll was also really messed up in good way.

3. Most B&M zero g rolls.

4. Plain old vertical loops (especially ones back to back).

If pretzel loops count, they have my vote.

If not, nothing beats a really good zero-g roll. I really couldn't tell you what makes them so great except for the fact they just feel good. My favorite zero-g roll actually comes on a somewhat mediocre coaster overall for me, Kennywood's Sky Rocket.

Why would a Pretzel Loop not count as an inversion?

Yeah you are right. Just an unsure brain-fart moment on my part.

My favorite inversions are the zero-g rolls on Raptor, Alpengeist, and Batman-the Ride, the corkscrews on Dominator, and the two vertical loops of Kings Island's Vortex.

As much as I dislike the ride, SUF's pretzel loop in the back row usually packs a punch and then the ride is back to being a snooze fest. The Incredible Hulk's roll out of the launch is a lot of fun. The hang time on X-Flight's roll through the control tower is fun too.

I personally prefer the good old vertical loop just because it's the only type of inversion that gives that perfect hang time at the top where you get the strangest upside down feeling (seeing the whole world upside down while still having some positive G's which fools your body/brain into thinking you are still standing/sitting the right way up).

Not only that but I just love the look of a vertical loop, especially the tear drop shaped loops on Arrows. My other favorite inversions are the Zero G, Cobra Roll, Batwing, Immelman/Diving loop, and the Pretzel Loop.

I have to say that the pretzel loop on Manta in the backseat has taken the spot for my favorite inversion of all time. The feeling of being pulled through the first half of the loop is unlike anything I have ever experienced before.

Honorable mentions to go the second immelmann on Dragon Challenge; Chinese Fireball as mentioned by X2coasterfreak a couple of posts above, and the zero-g roll on Kumba.

Any Inversion that you don't normally see Is a favourite of mine, even if it is somewhat painful.

Among them include:

Scorpion Tail: http://rcdb.com/12192.htm

Pretzel Knot: http://rcdb.com/8897.htm

Roll Out: http://rcdb.com/8896.htm

Demonic Knot: http://rcdb.com/12033.htm

Saxophone: http://rcdb.com/8915.htm

Flying Snake Dive: http://rcdb.com/8912.htm

Diving Turn: http://rcdb.com/8903.htm

We need coasters with inversions that look like this:
