hollinwp
Please understand the only thing I was defending that started this whole back and forth was someone comparing the construction of YOLOcoaster to Gate Keeper at CP. Of course CP would be closer to being done, they're not open right now and have free reign to tear the place apart. Heck, Knotts hasn't even had their pieces delivered for their ride... Â The thing about Knotts however is that Coast Rider was announced much later than Yolocoaster was and the fact that Yolocoaster's clearing started much longer ago. Now Knotts is moving slower than I would hope, but I think it will come up much faster than Yolocoater. Knott's at least is also doing a lot of internal improvements such as Boomerang's paint and the renovation of the log ride. If California's Great America started clearing land around the same time (which I believe they did but do not quote me, I could be wrong) and has Gold Striker also nearly completed track wise, and is a much longer ride and more intricate to build, then Yolocoaster should be getting close to being completed instead of just barely starting. nojarama
SFMM has been going downhill ever since Jay Thomas as the Shapiro group left. It quite honestly has! And while the park is not as bad as it was before Jay came in, you simply cannot raise the bar, and then lower it again without people taking notice. /\ THIS!!! Â And yes, I completely agree with everything else Robb is saying. It breaks my heart that the park is spiraling downward back to its bad times. coasternut
^ I totally agree on the Jay Thomas comment. I've always been a large (vocal) supporter. The park and I really miss him.

cmullin
^ Easily Viper, but it is not too bad if your head goes above the headrest, but it will still hurt your neck.

cmullin
^ Once is fine, especially for the credit, but when I rode multiple times in a row during ERT at West Coast Bash last year, I got a really bad headache so I don't advise that. SFMMGeek27
Revolution. I think Viper is one of the least rough rides in the park actually. I haven't figured out why everyone thinks it is so painful. I haven't hit my head once on that thing! Revolution and X2 are at different story, though. rcdude
What is rougher or head-bangier: Revolution or Viper? Â I find both to be about the same roughness wise, but Revolution is the more uncomfortable of the two. Due to the design of Viper's restraints, those with a large upper body experience little headbanging but instead have pressure on their shoulders for the duration of the ride, while Revolution will pretty much deliver a few hits to anyone who rides. Viper is the better of the two coasters, but I'd still recommend riding both of them (especially to anyone who hasn't).
XYZ
When I ride Revolution, I do the "Vekoma death grip" and I get no headbanging whatsoever. Though, those OTSRs are terrible and if you aren't used to the ride, you will get headbanging.
bottom_feeder_13
I personally enjoy both although they aren't great. Revolution should always be ridden in the front row because you can anticipate the turns and it's just smoother in general. Viper should just be ridden in the front row of a car no matter what, besides that its not really that important where you sit.
pianojohn
I WAS going to try and go to SFMM this summer, but after reading all of the posts, I think I would be disappointed in how the park has gone downhill. Â Granted, I have only been to the park twice: the first time in 1980 and the second time in 2000. Twenty years apart and I noticed things that weren't as they used to be. And while my trip in 2000 was OK, I am sure I would be disappointed in how the park has declined. Â I guess we can only hope for another change in management that will bring back some of the lost luster.
SFMMGeek27
^Don't let all the complaints turn you away from going to the park. We're just highly critical here. It's a good park with it's flaws. If you like coasters and don't care about theming, cleanliness, or anything else, you will like the place. The rides are decent-good. Everything else, not so much. Â I see wind in the forecast for tomorrow. I wonder if 25 mph wind will be enough to close down X2. I hope not...

Nah most of my "GP" friends think SF:GA is a dump, with some good rides, and the park has gone about 97% downhill from 10 years ago. Especially how its a giant concrete slab with some rides on it, that's it. Seems SF:MM is the same from all I've heard. Shame, always wanted to go and now that I will on WCB sounds like it's kinda sucky.  Buuuut has a ton of coasters! I plan to ride Viper once, to do it, then most likely sit for 20 minutes after some advil Im sure it's about the same pain as Great American Scream Machine, which sucked! _IntaMAN_
What is rougher or head-bangier: Revolution or Viper?  I have NEVER had headbanging on Viper, just here and there on SOME points of the ride but other than that to me the ride is very awesome and of my top 5 faves at the park. Perhaps it's because of my height (5 ft. 8"). But yeah, Revolution definitely wins my vote for worst headbanging I've ever had on ANY ride, but it's a Schwarzkopf so it gets some credit. Hopefully (a.k.a Never Gonna Happen) SFMM will give the ride the TLC it needs and make it run like it's old awesome self.  EDIT: I always hear about Viper's "magic seat". Where is it?
