  1. How cool! I'm super jealous you got to visit the Shanghai Tower... I'm sort of a tall building geek.
  2. What an awesome idea! That's the way it should be... Holiday World style (even though we're still paying...).
  3. This is unfortunate. Hopefully Zaturn and possibly Venus will find a new home. I frankly wouldn't be surprised if Titan got scrapped all together, although it did just get new trains so who knows.
  4. 1. Skyrush 2. Nitro 3. Superman (SFNE) 4. Diamondback 5. Steel Force 6. Superman (SFA) 7. Magnum 8. Desperado 9. Goliath (SFMM)
  5. I never thought CGA would get a B&M Hyper before Knott's, but it looks like that just may happen! Either way, AWESOME news for this park!
  6. I remember a rumor that Six Flags tried to cut costs that year and wanted to cancel Raging Bull but it was too late, so they downsized Georgia Scorcher which was originally supposed to be the size of Chang and Riddler's Revenge. Not sure how true that was, but interesting nonetheless That definitely makes sense. 2006 was also a quite expensive year for Six Flags. They purchased two B&M Hypers, a huge B&M Flyer, and El Toro after having just built Kingda Ka the year before. But then again, Six Flags lost two parks in 2005 (SFNO and SFAW), so maybe they got some extra cash from that? Fun speculation.
  7. I always forget how much I enjoy reading and posting in this thread! Interesting stuff. 1999 was the year with the most new B&Ms opening. We got Afterburn, Apollo's Chariot, Batman the Ride (SFOT), Medusa/Bizarro, Dragon Challenge (2 coasters?), Georgia Scorcher, Incredible Hulk, and Raging Bull. And of these 8 (or 9?) coasters, 4 were at Six Flags parks! That's crazy to think since Six Flags have been B&M dry since 2012, and the only comparable year where they purchased that many B&Ms is 2006 (two Goliaths and Tatsu). Also, 2005 was the year with the most Intamin Accelerator coasters opening. We got Kanonen, Kingda Ka, Rita, Skycar, and Superman Escape. And of these 5 coasters, they cover 4 continents! Intamin sure was busy that year.
  8. When it has been a while since the trees near Jaguar haven't been trimmed, I've been able to tough leaves with my fingertips on multiple occasions. The ride is slow enough and the trees are barely reachable, so no harm is done.
  9. This coaster looks awesome! What a perfect addition. It will definitely give White Lightning a run for its money. 2017, while a bit dry, seems to be quite a good year for wooden coasters with Mystic Timbers, InvadR, and this.
  10. ^This. It seems like Sol Spin will be a tight fit. It looks like it could be spinning up and above Jaguar's brake run... that would provide for some awesome visuals!
  11. I've been on the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway that travels from the base to the peak of Mount San Jacinto in Southern California. I believe it is the largest/longest rotating gondola sky ride. It was tons of fun, albeit a little terrifying. Excellent, excellent views though. I don't have any pictures unfortunately, but I'm sure there are tons on Google.
  12. I can't speak for the Darien Lake version, but the one at SFA was very rattle, weak, and frankly boring. It only started to get good on the return run to the station. It's funny how Intamin's Hypers have drastically improved over the years, whereas for B&M, some of their earlier Hypers are the better ones.
  13. Disaster Transport. I rode it in 2012 on my very first visit to Cedar Point, and it closed less than a week after I left. Also, Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain. It closed down a few months after my first visit to SFMM, and I may have rode it only 2 or 3 times total.
  14. Both B&Ms in this park look quite good and complement each other well! Does anyone know if the Hyper will use V-trains? It reminds me a lot of Shambhala, just smaller.
  15. I may have posted in this thread already, but I rode over 40 new coasters this summer from all three of these manufacturers, so I'll update it. Worst B&M: Apocalypse at Six Flags America. I hope the fire effects burn this ride to the ground. Worst Intamin: It's not necessarily a bad ride, but Superman at SFMM doesn't do much for me. I don't think I've ridden a truly "bad" Intamin! Worst GCI: Wildcat at Hersheypark. Enough said.
  16. I've ridden both and they feel really close to the same. Maybe a tad more room but I wouldn't expect much.
  17. Never thought someone would be disappointed because an Intamin was chosen over a Vekoma.. Am I the only one who is super excited for this?? You absolutely are not! This coaster looks fantastic! To be honest, they could have gone with either layout and either manufacturer and I still would have been thrilled. I will likely not make it out to this park any time in the near future, but I can't wait to follow construction and see videos!
  18. I feel like half of the problems associated with Silver Bullet's aesthetics could be fixed if the lift hill were painted the same color as the rest of the track. I was hoping they would do that when they repainted the ride in 2014, but I guess not. I said it before, but I really hope the addition of Sol Spin will mean a repaint of Montezooma's Revenge. That coaster is starting to become the eyesore in that area of the park with its peeling paint and faded color scheme...
  19. Awesome update! I often forget that this crazy-looking Intamin woodie exists! That first drop looks so incredibly bad-a$$!
  20. I apologize if this question has been answered before, but are these trains recycled from Gwazi (obviously with new front pieces added)? I remember reading that somewhere and wasn't sure if it was true.
  21. I was very fortunate this past summer to ride lots of rides from parks that were previously on my theme park bucket list. SFGAdv (El Toro, Kingda Ka, Nitro) Hersheypark (Storm Runner, Skyrush) SFNE (Wicked Cyclone, Bizarro/Superman) Now with those out of the way (and all awesome parks!), I really need to make it out to Kings Dominion and Carowinds and finally experience I305 and Fury 325.
  22. To update this list 2 years later... [2015] - Twisted Colossus (SFMM) - Voyage to the Iron Reef (KBF) [2016] - The New Revolution (SFMM) - GhostRider 2.0 (KBF) - Superman the Ride (SFNE) (if you count this one) - Joker (SFGAdv) - Fireball (SFNE) Looking ahead, these are almost certain. [2017] - Patriot (CGA) - Wonder Woman (SFDK) - Justice League (SFMM) - Sol Spin / Soak City expansion (KBF)
  23. Man, this game looks awesome. Too bad I can't get it until they come out with a Mac version...or I purchase a PC...whichever comes first.
  24. According to their website; they only have a Transportable version that seats 30. It doesn't look too bad though. mondialrides.com/rides It would probably be easier for them to get the trailer-mounted version since it's gonna be removed in 2-3 years anyway.
  25. To be fair, I will rank the thrill coasters and family/kiddie coasters separately. Fortunately, Knott's has 5 of each. 1. Xcelerator 2. GhostRider 3. Silver Bullet 4. Montezooma's Revenge 5. Boomerang 1. Sierra Sidewinder 2. Jaguar! 3. Pony Express 4. Coast Rider 5. Timberline Twister
