  1. I totally get how you feel. But then I sat and thought about it, and maybe they are doing it for consistency? Maybe the Monte/Jaguar/Sierra Sidewinder blob will look a little better with consistent colors as opposed to three different colors? I don't know... it's just a thought. Let's be real: when they paint Xcelerator's track at some point or another, it will probably be orange. Maybe they can get some Home Depot ads or something.
  2. Nice pictures. What was there previously?
  3. Thanks for the pictures. Monte is looking good.
  4. As far as I know, Voyage has been doing very well here at Knott's. It always has a line, but that could be due to terrible capacity. Speaking of capacity, I saw an interview with Matt Ouimet, and he said the team was trying to figure out a way to make the Triotech rides higher capacity before installing more, so maybe that's what the little hiatus is for. Just some food for thought.
  5. That's what I suspected since there was a little bit of dark green on the front spike supports if you look at my photos a couple pages back. I rather like Rougarou's color scheme, so if it's along those lines I'm a happy camper. Wonder if they're gonna repaint/restyle the train as well or pull a SFMM and leave it alone (looking at you, Scream).
  6. 19 B&M coasters, all in the US. 20 if you count Rougarou even though I've only been on Mantis.
  7. Kind of, but if I remember correctly what was still 3-4 years before the removal of the ride (correct me if I'm wrong). More importantly though (if my timeline is correct) it happened well before the park, county and city worked out a deal that ended with the park receiving almost a million dollars in incentives for their ambitious $50 million expansion. Had that never happened it's possible that the water park expansion wouldn't have been as ambitious. Maybe it would have, but a lot of things happened at Carowinds between the decision to re-track Thunder Road and it's eventual removal that were unique to that park. It was also located on a prime piece of real estate and seemed to have very low ridership compared to the other rides in the park. At the same time, the Carowinds water park was almost comically under-sized and crappy. The removal of Thunder Road was a no-brainer. I think you hit the nail on the head. Thunder Road was on prime real estate, while Monte most definitely is not. I'm not totally sure how I feel about the orange considering the park has a plethora of orange rides, but I'll save my judgement for when the ride is completely re-painted. So glad to see it receive some much-needed love.
  8. It is the off-season. Ride closure are expected being it's a year-round park. And while the park is far from perfect, I think it's in WAY better condition now than it was 5 years ago. The park has made some good moves recently.
  9. I visited the park on Sunday and grabbed some photos of Monte's re-paint. Looks like it's gonna be orange (like there aren't enough orange coasters in the park). Never got around to posting the photos until now.
  10. I saw their video on Instagram. It looks fantastic! There's no doubt in my mind this ride will open on March 25th, and I'm hoping to get out there for opening day! Super excited.
  11. Lace-up shoes. Mexican food or Chinese food?
  12. I had no idea they finally got Webcams at Knott's. That's pretty awesome since they're open daily all year. Now I'll be way less productive at the office. Thanks Knott's! It's pretty awesome! On weekdays, you can see how much of a ghost town (no pun intended) the park is! I'm likely heading to the park this weekend and will try to get some more photos of Monte's re-paint. Haven't seen any updates in a few days other than what's visible on the webcams, which isn't much.
  13. 1. What is the farthest distance you've traveled to specifically visit a theme park? About as far across the country as you can get. I live in Southern California and went to the Northeast / New England area this past summer to visit SFA, Hersheypark, Dorney Park, SFNE, and SFGAdv. 2. Your favorite coaster in the state you live in? Twisted Colossus. 3. Would you rather wait in line for a boomerang (at any park) or a VR coaster @ a Six Flags? Boomerang. I hate VR more and more every day. 4. Have u ever been the only person in a train during a coaster ride? Yes. My little sister and I got the whole train to ourselves on a night ride on SooperDooperLooper. 5. What is your favorite thing to do at your home park that does not involve riding something? Eating. Knott's has some decent shows, but mostly just food. 6. Better time for ERT: Early morning or late night? Late night! Every roller coaster is better in the dark. 7. Name some theme park food that *sounds* gross, yet is oh-so-delicious? I didn't think I would like the boysenberry flautas during Knott's Boysenberry Festival, but it just proves that you can slather boysenberry on anything and it will make it better. 8. Name your top three "bucketlist" coasters you have yet to ride. Intimidator 305, Fury 325, and Lightning Rod. 9. Have you ever been E-Vac'd? Did you receive anything if you did? Nope. 10. What is the longest length of time you've waited for a coaster? Back in 2010 during my first ever visit to SFMM I think I waited 2.5 hours for X2. 11. Worst flat ride ever. Name it. I guess I'm lucky. I've never been on a flat ride that I truly hated. 12. Your favorite SWEET treat at a park that is NOT your home park. The Banshee ice cream at KI was pretty good. 13. Congratulations! After aggressively gambling on the Plinko game you finally won a front of the line pass. Which ride do you use it on? Fury 325! 14. If you could have a lifetime fast pass to ONE attraction what would it be? Skyrush! Why no other than my favorite coaster? 15. Have you ever been next to someone that puked on a coaster? Nope, luckily. 16. Your home park is getting a new B&M and YOU get to pick what type. Do you want an invert/hyper/dive/floorless/flyer/wing/standup? All of the above is not an option. Hyper, hyper, hyper, hyper, hyper, hyper, hyper. Please Knott's. PLEASE. 17. Name your favorite Vekoma. Expedition Everest, but I rode it back in 2007 and don't remember much. 18. What water ride delivers the most unacceptable amount of wetness? The rapids at Cedar Point was insane. Tidal Wave at Hershey looked crazy as well, but I didn't ride it. 19. If you were able to help design a coaster would you want it to focus on airtime or inversions/positive G's? Can I say both? That's why I love Skyrush so much. 20. Most comfortable trains/seats for a coaster are... It's a toss-up between B&M clamshell and Mack's launch coasters. Guess I'll go with Mack since they do inversions. 21. Choose one: Unlimited front-of-the-line access to your favorite coaster at your home park for one season OR $1,000 cash? $1,000 cash. If it's at my home park, I don't care much about riding it tons and tons of times this season. 22. You just got drowned by a flume/rapids/chute-the-chutes. Do you pay the $$ for the dryer machine or do you continue on with your day trudging around like soggy dog? Pay for a dryer. 23. What is the worst food you've had at your home park? None, really. I love all of the food at Knott's. 24. You're at Cedar Point. You have a one hour ERT session on ONE coaster of your choice. You choose... Maverick, no question. 25. Favorite (non-clone) dark ride? I'm honestly not much of a dark ride person. Iron Reef is cool, but none of them do much for me. 26. What was your favorite park you visited in 2016? Hersheypark! Big surprise of the trip! 27. What's your current credit count? Don't be shy. 139. 28. Winner winner chicken dinner! You just won a trip with hotel and airfare included. The catch is its only good for Six Flags America or Mt Olympus. Which do you choose? Mt. Olympus, since I just went to SFA last summer and pretty much never care to ever go back again until they get something really cool. 29. What is the best Intamin coaster you have ridden? Skyrush! 30. Your home park has to remove one coaster and one flat for an expansion. Which two rides would you be OK with losing? Boomerang and Sky Cabin. 31. Song/music you've heard playing at a park that absolutely has not business being played in a theme park? I don't pay attention to the music much. 32. There's 5 minutes before the park closes. You choose to: Reride your favorite coaster in the park, OR get the new kiddie/junior coaster credit? Re-ride my favorite coaster. I count credits, but I'm not a whore. 33. Do you visit the waterpark if it's connected to the amusement park? Usually not, but if I have loads of extra time and it's free, I may. 34. What 2017 addition are you most looking forward to? Sol Spin. Call me a fanboy, but I LOVED Samurai at Lagoon and can't wait to have one at my home park. 35. What was the most disappointing addition to your home park in the past 10 years? Pony Express was kinda pointless considering the park already had two launch coasters and Sierra Sidewinder came just the year before. 36. The most overrated coaster ever is... Bizarro/Superman at SFNE. Millennium Force craps all over it. 37. What ride makes you wanna vomit? None, really. One of the great things about having a strong stomach. 38. What is the best consolation prize you've won at a games booth? Don't play games much, but I remember winning a Domo several years ago when he was popular. 39. And the worst? Can't really remember. 40. End this questionnaire by posting a picture of your favorite light package (coaster/flat). I don't have a picture easily accessible, but GhostRider's running orange lights are awesome.
  14. I'm having a hard time coming up with a decent screenshot, but if you look on the webcams, it appears that Monte is going to have red track and yellow supports.
  15. My thoughts exactly. It almost makes me want to believe it's a typo and is supposed to be "Mind Blower." Regardless of the name, it looks like it will be a great little ride.
  16. I absolutely love this color scheme! Looks like an excellent addition to the park.
  17. Unless it was just recently added, Twisted Colossus does not have a single rider line. But it has a great capacity with 3 trains going so you're probably fine putting it off.
  18. I'm partial to Timber Mountain Log Ride, so that's my favorite. I've never really been on a "bad" flume though.
  19. Possessed at Dorney Park.
  20. Bath robe. GCI or Gravity Group?
  21. Maybe it's just me, but this coaster seems like it has gone up really fast. Considering that a lot of the ride is close to the ground and Cedar Fair's fantastic construction team, I'm not too surprised. It's nice to see a modern wooden coaster come to the park after so long. Love a good GCI.
  22. Hopefully. I recall them painting Perilous Plunge about a year before they scrapped it. I highly doubt Monte is leaving in the near future, but anything is possible with a high-maintenance Schwarzkopf approaching 40 years. After reading California Coaster King's full article, it appears that the ride is returning to its original all-yellow scheme. I've never been a fan of single color schemes, but considering the area it's located in, it makes sense and is a nice throwback. Good stuff.
  23. So would this mean why Valleyfair, Michigan Adventure, and Dorney Park have been taking so long on cronstruction of all their coaster projects is to have it over serval fiscal periods? Exactly... Every year CF puts a $20 in the jar for these parks. They'll get their coaster soon enough If my math is correct, Dorney should be.... Last new coaster- 2005, hydra. This year- 2017. 2017-2005= 12 years. So, at 20 dollars a year, there will be 240 dollars in Dorneys jar right now. Basing this off of a B&M coaster, going to say the cost of said coaster will be 30,000,000 USD. 30,000,000-240($ already saved)= 29,999,760 dollars to go. 29,999,760/20(money saved per year)=1,499,988. So Dorney will not see its next new coaster for another 1,499,988 years. This made me laugh. Sounds about right!
