  1. Xcelerator at Knott's.
  2. Maverick's ending (everything after the lake turn) is pretty sweet. I also like Banshee's inline twist-helix combo. And many people will probably disagree with this one, but I love how Full Throttle slams into the brakes right after the top hat drop. It's a weird combination of ejector air and being violently thrown forward, and it makes for a great ending in my opinion. Oh, and Silver Bullet's corkscrew-airtime-corkscrew-helix combo is fantastic as well. I could list several dozen coasters here. As for lame endings, aside from the lift-hill-into-station coasters, GateKeeper is up there. Everything after the last inline twist is a total snooze fest. Great Bear's meandering after the last corkscrew is boring as well, but I'll cut Hershey a little slack since they were working with several limitations and restrictions on that coaster.
  3. I was really hoping we would leave the VR craze in 2016, but I guess not. I think it's a cool idea that works on some coasters if executed correctly (Iron Dragon and Freedom Flyer are good examples), but Six Flags has been putting it on all the wrong type of rides. I really hope this isn't the future of roller coasters.
  4. It might be a little busy since you're visiting on a Saturday but still much more manageable than anything in the summer season. I recommend heading to GhostRider first since that line will fill up quickly (even with two train ops, they are slow). Then head to the back of the park and get a couple laps on Xcelerator before that line fills up. Silver Bullet (if running two trains), Monte, and the other family rides should be manageable all day, except maybe Pony Express. Have fun!
  5. What's odd is that it held up pretty well for several years and then went to crap surprisingly fast. First drop in the back seat is one of the best drops in the park. Agreed. It was a fantastic ride back when I first rode it in 2010, but it's been terrible the last 2-3 years. I might even classify it as worse than the original GhostRider to some extent. Not that this is likely, but I'd love to see the park do a total retrack and a heavy overhaul on both trains. It'd be nice to see them finally add a 12th car now that audio has been out for a while.
  6. 1. Nitro 2. El Toro 3. Kingda Ka 4. Joker 5. Batman 6. Bizarro 7. Superman 8. Skull Mountain 9. Kiddie/family rides 10. Green Lantern
  7. AND it does need considerable work again. The recent partial re-tracking held up for all of a month or so. I hate to suggest it as I love the ride and the layout, but it's as if the ride is too aggressive for the structure / trains. It's a very tight and twisty track that stays fairly low to the ground with the trains hammering against the tracks for much of the course. I think the wheels are steel on this one, aren't they? Yes, the wheels are steel. It's a bummer that Apocalypse has become so bad over the years. I remember the days where it was much better than GhostRider, however now the opposite is the case. It really is a fun ride and layout.
  8. They are!? I'm still curious as to why Apocalypse is closed ...possibly because they are taking care of the ride? It is the off-season.
  9. Add in Lagoon under "for sure" since I will be heading off to college up there. Also, Kings Dominion and Carowinds are looking much more likely since this posting!
  10. The one at SFGAdv's scheme is definitely better. I don't know; I've always felt that coasters should have white/black/earthy tone support colors and brightly colored track (Fury is a perfect example), not bright greens and purples for the supports. It just looks tacky and tough on the eyes. Still a fun ride regardless. I prefer Intamin ZacSpins (call me crazy), but these are still solid additions to almost all parks.
  11. Looking good. I would rather have seen some form of an Intamin drop tower like most people, but nonetheless it's nice to see the park get something it desperately needs.
  12. Looks nice. I rather liked the consistency of websites across all CF parks, but if other parks adopt that new style I'm all for it!
  13. This is fantastic news! I'm most excited for that B&M Hyper. If Knott's never gets one, at least we'll have one in California!
  14. This is probably a really stupid question, but do these Japanese/Asian parks really stay open year-round? Even with snow? Why can't US parks do this!
  15. When I visit new parks, I generally skip the small kiddie or family coasters. I haven't ridden Woodstock Express or Wilderness Run at Cedar Point, nor have I ridden the small Zamperla/Miler kiddies at various Six Flags parks. I count my credits, but I'm not that crazy about it. I'd rather get another ride on El Toro or Nitro than find a small child to ride some pointless credit. There are probably 5 or more coaster credits around SoCal I haven't ridden yet, simply because I find it pointless to visit a park just to grab a credit (West Coaster, Rewind Racer, Freeway Coaster, John's Incredible Pizza, and a few others come to mind). Although I'd really like to get to the Santa Monica Pier at some point, just because it is so iconic and I'm just a little over an hour away.
  16. Don't scream at me... Nitro. Cedar Point? Also: 1800th post!
  17. Have you been living under a rock? No, I have not. It's under temporary off-season refurbishment until February 3rd. It's my home park. Sorry if that wasn't clear...
  18. 1. Lex Luthor/Zumanjaro (they both feel identical to me) 2. Drop Tower at Kings Island 3. Supreme Scream at Knott's 4. Every other S&S combo tower (Power Tower, Scream at SFNE, Rocket at Lagoon) 5. Demon Drop at Dorney (honestly, the 1st gen Intamin drop didn't quite live up to the hype IMO) 6. S&S double shots I really need to get on a large-scale ARM tower soon. I've been on the super tiny ones at carnivals, but they were the 60-80 foot versions that didn't do much for me. EDIT: I forgot the little Intamin one at SFA. Squeeze that in between #4 and #5.
  19. Unless this is very early manufacturing for a 2018 addition in the US, I can almost guarantee this track is for something in Asia this year. They are getting tons of B&Ms.
  20. Knott's sometime in the next couple weeks. Probably once GhostRider reopens from its refurbishment.
  21. Where did you hear that Tatsu is getting repainted?
  22. It's a bummer you don't have more comments. You seem to be putting a lot of work into this park and it looks great. So nice to still see RCT3 going strong with so many other games out there now. Keep up the work, I'm loving every update.
  23. Yes, Worlds of Fun's Top Spin known as Thunderhawk was removed during the 2015/2016 off-season. It's a shame to see many Huss Top Spin rides removed over the past few years but, it is for good reason as many have become "mechanical nightmares" and cost the parks a lot to maintain. Hopefully an amazing ride replaces Fire Fall at California's Great America. That's how I felt when Riptide was removed from Knott's last year. I figured it's just one more step to them removing Boomerang and using that space for a new thrill ride/coaster! They are fun rides, though. It looks like CGA has a bright future, so I guess the park has to take a couple step backs before moving forward. Bring on that Hyper coaster!
