Just checked the website to confirm. The page is gone, so there goes another flat... So as of 2017, Knott's has three main thrilling flat rides: Supreme Scream, La Revolución, and Sol Spin. They lost Windseeker, Screamin' Swing, Riptide, and now Wipeout in the last 4 years. I LOVE next year's addition, but I hope they continue to beef up their thrill ride collection before adding another major coaster. I never particularly liked Wipeout anyway. It made my neck sore and was just an uncomfortable ride in general.

What's new for 2017?
thrillseeker4552 replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It just got announced this morning, but Knott's is adding a Mondial Top Scan in 2017 named Sol Spin. -
I don't know, but what is interesting is how Disney is really one of the main trend setters of the industry and how they have this and other parks don't. And some people like to say "well, Disney rides aren't as extreme" but I can carry anything I want to on Rock N Roller Coaster which launches to 55MPH in the dark and goes upside down several times. I really wish other parks would follow suit, especially a certain competing park that not only won't let you carry on any loose items, but makes you put EVERYTHING including your phone in a fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo, go through a metal detector, and even get wanded like you're going through TSA. Want to know how much fun it is to stand in an hour long line when you're not even allowed to have your phone? Not fun at all. I refuse to ride another coaster where I have to walk through a metal detector in order to ride. No coaster is worth that volume of stupidity. Yeah, I would love to see other parks follow suit. Like I said, I don't visit Disney much, but when I did back in April, it felt VERY weird (but good!) to take my backpack with me on California Screamin'. Very few coasters can top that ride's capacity, and being able to take all loose articles is probably the biggest reason Disney dominates in that category. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks like fun! Disney has never been my cup of tea for amusement parks, but there is no arguing that they know how to put on an event! All that candy! Question: why does Disney have such a lenient loose article policy? How do they get away with it while most other parks require lockers and/or securing articles in pockets?

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I agree! It's so refreshing to see something other than orange/red for an iron horse, not that that's bad, but it's nice to see a park go the Twisted Colossus/Joker route and choose a unique color. -
TOP 5 B&M INVERTED COASTERS
thrillseeker4552 replied to CoasterExpert13's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
After riding two new B&M Inverts this last summer (could have been 3 if Talon wasn't closed), I've rethought and adjusted my rankings. 1. Banshee 2. Batman clones (the two I've ridden are identical in every way, so I lumped them together) 3. Raptor 4. Great Bear 5. Silver Bullet However, even though it's in 5th, I still love Silver Bullet and think it gets more crap than it deserves. I'm hoping to get up to NorCal this summer and finally ride Flight Deck as well. -
With the 2017 additions focused on the waterpark (which really needed updating), I would bet that the 2018 addition will be some kind of ride. If the construction is starting in 2017, then there's a big possibility that it's a coaster. A simple flat ride addition wouldn't need a year of construction to install. The last major thrill coaster at Knott's was Silver Bullet back in 2004, so 2018 would be 14 years between major coasters. I know that they've added PE, SS, and Coast Rider since 2004, but I wouldn't call any of them major coasters. It would be amazing to finally have a B&M hyper on the West Coast and it would really round out the coaster collection at the park. Knott's has the highest attendance of any CF park, so it's time they got a major coaster addition. If you renew your season pass before 10/31/16, it's only $81 for the standard pass and $96.75 for the Gold pass (which includes Soak City). Plus, they break up the payment into 9 installments and you get a free Bring a Friend ticket. If you are going to renew your pass, now is the time to do it. The price for new season passes is $90 for the standard and $105.75 for Gold (payable in 9 installments), which is still really a good deal. I agree about the new coaster. Sometime in the next 5 years I would LOVE to see a B&M Hyper at the park. As long as it's well-placed and fits with the character of the park (looking at you Silver Bullet), I'm in full support. And thanks for the tips on the pass. I've had a Knott's pass every year for probably the last decade or more; 2016 was the first year I didn't get one, so I won't be renewing. I'll probably be getting the Platinum Pass too since I'm going to college this year and will have the freedom to drive up to CGA and FINALLY check out that park! Question: Does the Cedar Fair Platinum Pass include Gilroy Gardens? I tried checking their website, but it's a little vague.

I would take that with a grain of salt. I think the most we will see next year is a flat ride in Windseeker's spot, and even that's being hopeful. Anyway, I'm gonna buy my 2017 pass very soon. Can't wait to check out Soak City next summer, it's been WAY too long since I've been to a quality water park.

Weird Coaster Facts
thrillseeker4552 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Xcelerator is the only Intamin Accelerator Coaster with a top hat the travels to the right. The rest (Kingda Ka, TTD, Stealth, Zaturn, Kanonen, and others) either go straight up or left. -
B&M Restraints: Old vs. New
thrillseeker4552 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I believe it depends on the type of B&M. For coasters that focus on positive forces (like Inverts and maybe Wings), the vest restraints are fine. I didn't have an issue with the ones on Banshee or GateKeeper. However, on rides like Valravn that focus on "floating" down the drop and through the inversions, the older ones seem to be better. I voted "no preference" since it's a coaster-by-coaster basis. -
Favorite: Hersheypark. This park surprised me! In addition to the great, clean family atmosphere (with probably the best bathrooms I've been to at a park), they also have a fantastic Intamin trio, several woodies, a B&M, and a classic looper. Operations aren't the best, but they are better than most parks I've been to. Honorable mentions for other favorite parks are SFGAdv, Cedar Point, and KI, but Skyrush in itself is what puts Hershey above most other parks for me. Least favorite: Six Flags America. LOL this park is so embarrassing. Most of their rides are mediocre (Superman is the best at the park, but still weak compared to other hyper coasters I've ridden, plus the VR is horrific), and the operations are a complete joke. I think I timed a 9-10 minute dispatch for Batwing, and they were stacking for >5 minutes on Joker's Jinx. Apocalypse, Mind Eraser, and Roar are all terrible. Wild One is alright, but nothing particularly unique or special. The food lines are also atrocious. I have no desire to go back there again, and if I'm ever in the DC area, I'm taking the extra 1.5 hours and heading down to KD instead!

RMC is basically certain at this point. Even if it's unannounced, I'm excited to follow the construction (rather, the deconstruction)! -
