Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I enjoyed watching your faithful interpretation (great job with it!), but that kind of conservatism looks closer to "big off-season rehab" than something newsworthy that will make Mean Streak on par with CP's other headliners -- oh, and that potential is certainly there. I like that GCI came in and did well with GhostRider, but unlike GhostRider, a brakeless/painless Mean Streak might still not get it regarded above the bottom-half of CP's collection. We all know what the answer is, and it can't come soon enough. The park dumped Disaster Transport, swapped restraints on Maverick, swapped trains on Mantis, and added two huge B&M coasters, yet Mean Streak still sits in the waiting room of mediocrity year after year. New Texas Giant has been open for five years now. As a big GCI fan, a "Mean Tweak" from them would look more like an indictment of RMC by Cedar Fair than a commendation of GCI. Mean Streak is the #1 RMC plastic surgery coaster candidate at a major park, and it could be a top ride in the world. There's no way to scoff at that potential. Cedar Point, RMC: Put down the cups of punch, get off the bleachers, stop playing hard to get, and head to the dance floor already, you two lovebirds! THIS! -

Best Wooden Coaster Collection
thrillseeker4552 replied to Password121's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Of the parks I've been to, Hersheypark has the most solid wooden coaster lineup. Kings Island will be up there too once Mystic Timbers opens. -
Am I the only one who doesn't get the hype for Wild One? It's a fun coaster with some fun airtime, but I've been on much better wooden coasters. I would rank it equally with any other "classic" woodie like the one at Lagoon, Comet at Hershey, etc. In terms of other rides in the park, I still think Superman, Batwing, and Joker's Jinx are all better. It wasn't rough or anything, just kinda "average" in my opinion.

I might as well try. Cedar Point: Major Soak City expansion (like Carolina Harbor); GCI makeover of Mean Streak Kings Island: Mystic Timbers Kings Dominion: GCI makeover of Hurler; New 4D/5D ride (like Mass Effect or Plants vs. Zombies) Canada's Wonderland: New 4D/5D ride Knott's: Soak City expansion; Fiesta Village renovation w/ new flat in Windseeker's spot Carowinds: New (old) flat rides Worlds of Fun: New (old) flat rides Valleyfair: *MAYBE* a Triotech ride Great America: Floorless Vortex Dorney Park: Nothing Michigan's Adventure: Nothing

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

However, the height of the station appears very close to the height of the track entering the shed. But this is just a rendering, so maybe we shouldn't make assumptions. A drop track would be GREAT, though! -

Mystic Timbers isn't the *best* name, but let's be honest, it's way better than SplinterCat. But in the end, I really don't care what they name it. Can't wait for more pictures and videos! -

Mystic Timbers looks like the perfect addition to Kings Island. The park really needed a modern wooden coaster. I love a good GCI; they make great coasters (no pun intended). -
Oldest Coaster You've Ridden
thrillseeker4552 replied to MSLSM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Technically speaking, the oldest coaster I've ridden is Wild One at Six Flags America (1917). Second would be Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England (1939). Both of those woodies were relocated, which makes me hesitant to count them since they could be whole new coasters by this point. The oldest non-relocated coaster I've ridden is Comet at Hersheypark (1946). EDIT: Wait, how could I forget about Roller Coaster at Lagoon? That's the oldest non-relocated I've ridden (1921). -
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember reading somewhere that Joker was the last Six Flags Iron Horse makeover for a while. The could still purchase from RMC (new wooden coasters, T-rex, etc.), but for some reason, I remember Iron Horse conversions being put on hold for a while since they've done 6 in the last 5 years.

What is your next park?
thrillseeker4552 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pacific Park (Santa Monica Pier) tomorrow for the first time. I'll finally get to ride the most-filmed roller coaster on the planet, and the beach will be nice since it's gonna be HOT. EDIT: LOL nevemind, plans changed. -

Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?

H. O. T. I really need to get out to a water park before the season is over. -
I like how the RMCs we've seen so far have had small design changes when compared to the animation. It makes the construction process more intriguing. I love B&M, but at least with Cedar Fair, their coasters come out EXACTLY like the animation, so the construction process gets very old very fast, at least for me.

I'm 99.9% sure Vekoma will not be using Schwarzkopf's design...it was for animation and layout purposes only. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
thrillseeker4552 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's only been two B&Ms in a row. They still have more Arrow and Intamin coasters than B&M. Technically 3 if you count Rougarou. And I was speaking about Cedar Fair in general, not particularly Cedar Point. -
I'm skeptical about a Justice League ride for this park. It doesn't seem to fit their demographic at all. SFMM is a roller coaster park, and adding a dark ride like that seems really out-of-place. And since the park already has a crap load of rides to maintain, the dark ride will be put at the bottom of the priority list, meaning after 3-4 years, the effects will be in terrible condition or not work at all. But whether for 2017 or 2018, I could see the park go with almost anything. As long as it's grand enough to market as their 20th coaster. The whole area by Apocalypse could desperately use a new ride.
