  1. Dorney Park is dead? No way. Never! I agree about Possessed. I think it's the best ride in the park (Talon was closed when I went).
  2. Good to hear. The new trains are identical to Xcelerator's restraints (which I'm very used to), and they are very comfortable. I don't particularly like the first generation T-bars (Millennium Force, Superman: Ride of Steel) as they dig into my crotch, and Superman the Ride's does the opposite and sits mid-thigh.
  3. Quick question for those who are familiar with the park... Is Ride of Steel running its new train this year? I remember seeing photos of it on Twitter a while back. If so, does it improve the ride at all?
  4. As for the brakes, it is definitely annoying. Letting the train just roll into the station would really help capacity. As for the queue gates, I would give a little leeway. Keep in mind that the gates are in pairs (due to the PTC trains), and since the Millennium Flyers are equally spaced individual cars, some of the gates don't line up well. At least they drew arrows on the ground to direct the rider to the seat.
  5. I've ridden two: Twisted Colossus and Wicked Cyclone. I love them both for different reasons and can't compare them. Both are fantastic rides, and I really hope I can expose myself to more RMCs in the future!
  6. Even the ops at Six Flags New England were pretty quick with VR. Granted, only about half the train wore VR at a time (I guess people really don't care much about it). Dispatches were around 3 minutes. 21 minutes...oh my gosh. That's absolutely ridiculous.
  7. They did when I visited two weeks ago. I doubt anything has changed.
  8. I would guess Boomerang is closed due to the incident that happened several weeks ago. I have no clue about Superman.
  9. Hopefully this is a start for Cedar Fair working with RMC. Some of the chain's woodies don't really need it (like GhostRider), but those with weak layouts to begin with (Mean Streak, the Hurlers, maybe the Grizzlys) could absolutely benefit from it. Hopefully 2017 is the year!
  10. Interesting you say that about Bat. I rode it in July 2014 as well and thought it was great (but I haven't ridden Vortex). Maybe there is a difference since Bat has 7 cars and Vortex has 6? More wear and tear on the track, maybe?
  11. I post over there as well, I wouldn't mind the flat package but I just don't think it would go in the chillers spot because to me it seems like a wasted potential when that space could have something else. I would really like to see the area over by zumanjaro utilized more with some flats since it's such a long walk already to zumanjaro some flats right near there would be great This. If SFGAdv gets any kind of flat package, it should go along the Zumanjaro path. I loved that ride but I was always so discouraged to ride it since it is so far back there. That would also give them an opportunity to round out the section of the park and connect the dead ends.
  12. Most likely Six Flags Magic Mountain and/or Hurricane Harbor since they got some new slides this year.
  13. It's challenging to predict the manufacturer when it's concept art. I'm pretty sure it's Vekoma since they dominate the family coaster (especially suspended family coaster) area, unless MACK or Intamin is doing some new prototype. Regardless, this looks perfect for the park!
  14. Not to mention Hershey's strong relationship with Intamin. I think a Falcon's Fury style drop tower would be perfect, but that doesn't really fit in with the clues.
  15. There is a lot of variety in my 10 favorite coasters, so I can't rank them against each other. Here they are in no particular order: Skyrush Millennium Force El Toro Nitro Superman the Ride (SFNE) Maverick Wicked Cyclone Twisted Colossus Kingda Ka front row Storm Runner
  16. Better or worse? I'm curious since it's a 2001 Invert--a little past B&M's "prime time" but a little before their "new generation" coasters.
  17. I went to Dorney two weeks ago for the first time (it was Wednesday the 22nd) and Talon was closed. Anybody know how long it was closed and when it reopened? It looks like one of the best, if not the best, coaster in the park. Bummed I couldn't ride it. For about a week, talon closed around 12 and then reopened around 3 due to maintainance. Following that on again off again it closed for good for about three or four days due to a maintainance failure. I guess my visit was during those 3-4 days. The employee guarding the ride didn't speak English very well, so I didn't bother asking several questions. Some lady (a guest) near the ride said it was closed the last couple days as well. Still bummed I missed it, but oh well, it's just a B&M Invert. I can't imagine it being very different than Great Bear, which I rode the day before.
  18. These rides would seem to have an atrocious capacity, so if Six Flags or any major park would choose to add one, I imagine it would be an upcharge.
  19. I agree! I've been on a fair number of wild mice and Hershey's is easily the most intense. It runs the way every wild mouse should run.
  20. I went to Dorney two weeks ago for the first time (it was Wednesday the 22nd) and Talon was closed. Anybody know how long it was closed and when it reopened? It looks like one of the best, if not the best, coaster in the park. Bummed I couldn't ride it.
  21. Looks great! I'm excited to see it finished. I really wish I could get my hands on another Phoenix set, I love coaster models!
  22. I just arrived back home from a two-week vacation to the East Coast where I rode over 40 new coasters, so I figured I would give this thread a bump and post some of my pleasant and unpleasant surprises of the trip. Unpleasant Surprises: 1. Lightning Racer at Hersheypark. I think they are solid wooden coasters, but I did not find it as amazing as people made it out to be. The racing aspect was fun, but I feel that if either of the coasters stood alone, they would be average. It's a nice set of coasters, but not "OMG NEED TO RIDE AGAIN" material. Essentially, the racing aspect is all it has going for it. 2. Stinger at Dorney Park. I had already ridden Invertigo at KI and thought it was a fun coaster, so I figured the ride would be exactly the same. Turns out, it was WAY worse. WAY worse. It was one of the most awful rides I've ever ridden. I may even prefer the regular Boomerangs since the restraints are less ridiculous. This was just as bad or worse than SLCs. But hey, at least it was open. 3. Thunderbolt at Six Flags New England. I guess this coaster gets a decent amount of positive reviews as it is almost an "overshadowed" coaster at the park, so I went in with decently high expectations, but it beat the living crap out of me, and no, I did not ride on a wheel seat. It was really, really bad. But it still wasn't as bad as some other classic wooden coaster... 4. THUNDERHAWK at Dorney Park. Holy crap. This ride was terrible. I was expecting a solid woodie since it got new trains, some retracking, and new paint this year, but it was terrible (and again, I was not in a wheel seat). Ugh, it was awful. I'm pretty tolerant to rough wooden coasters (I grew up with GhostRider at my home park), but this was at an all new level. I almost felt like I cracked a rib cage. Maybe it was better with the old trains/restraints? Ouch, ouch, ouch. 5. Superman - Ride of Steel at Six Flags America. Maybe I was just spoiled since I rode Skyrush, Superman/Bizarro, and Nitro before this one, but it underwhelmed me quite a bit. The long helices were rattly and boring. It had decent airtime, but it really only started to get good during the last 10 seconds of the ride. I could tell it was one of Intamin's first hypers. Luckily, they have improved a ton (see Skyrush). Pleasant Surprises: 1. Skyrush at Hersheypark. OH. MY. GOD. I went to this coaster expecting some great, and after seeing POV videos several times, my expectations were jacked sky high. And this coaster STILL blew me away. It is so freakin' intense. To anyone who has not ridden it, Skyrush is the perfect example of "videos don't do justice." This ride completely blew all my already-high expectations out of the water. It easily has the most intense forces I have ever experienced on a coaster. Yeah, my thighs were a little crushed at the end, but the crush to the thigh is worth the rush to the sky. Plus, the restraints loosen a little as you stack behind the station. Oh my god, this ride... Intamin, you are evil. Growing up in California with pretty lackluster hyper coasters (really just Goliath and Desperado), this Intamin machine kicked my a$$. I feel like I've been exposed to a whole new world of roller coasters. I can't wait to ride Intimidator 305. BRAVO Hershey and Intamin. And after hearing this coaster has been neutered a little, I can't even fathom how insane it was in 2012. I don't like ranking coasters or keeping a top 10 list since there are so many different types and ways to rank them, but Skyrush has to be #1. It just has to be. It's that amazing. 2. Fahrenheit at Hersheypark. Don't underestimate this little ride! It was my first Eurofighter-esque coaster, and I loved it. It was smooth, forceful, had unique elements, and the pop of airtime at the end was surprising! It's definitely an overlooked coaster in my opinion. Oh, and the soft restraints are great. 3. Storm Runner at Hersheypark. This is what Xcelerator should have been (even though it came first, but whatever). The restraints are comfortable, the launch is great, and the heartline roll/snake dive combo is so unique and awesome. I definitely prefer this to Xcelerator and maybe even TTD (haven't ridden TTD since 2014). 4. Nitro at Six Flags Great Adventure. What an awesome hyper coaster! It's not as intense as Skyrush obviously, but that doesn't mean it's a bad ride. It's glass smooth and is filled with fun floater airtime. Not to mention, it has what are probably the most comfortable restraints in the industry. California could desperately use a ride like this! If I had to marathon a coaster all day long, it would be Nitro. Also, I was surprised that there weren't any seatbelts on this one. What B&M Hypers have seatbelts besides the Cedar Fair ones? Having just the lap bar and no floor to raise lower, and with 9 rows per train with 3 trains running, these B&M Hypers have kick-a$$ capacity. I didn't mention rides like El Toro, Superman/Bizarro, or Kingda Ka since they were about what I expected them to be.
  23. Mind Eraser at Six Flags America. It sucked a lot. If you wanna say last GOOD credit, then it was Superman - Ride of Steel.
  24. Mind Eraser at Six Flags America. I ended my big East Coast trip with a bang...literally.
  25. Could you have posted a worse video? It was recorded with my iPhone 6+ and uploaded through Tapatalk, which for some reason downgraded the quality. It was uploaded while I was at the park, so I tried my best. I figured its purpose was to show Batman is open, not provide high quality footage of the ride.
