  1. ^I think Cedar Fair has proven to us over the last 5 years that they know what they're doing. If a Giga made more financial sense, they would have gone with a Giga. Mystic Timbers really is a good addition to the park and I see no reason to get all worked up over hypotheticals.
  2. I believe the unit conversions may be slightly wrong. 5 m/s is 11 mph. So the ride's speed is increasing from 11 mph to 24.6 mph. That's crazy that there's a drop on the lift hill. Gotta get that here in the states!
  3. Strange to hear about the Great Adventure flume. My sister and I got the whole log to ourselves when we went. Guess we got lucky.
  4. Um, isn't 2020 the 80th Anniversary of Knott's? Not the 100th? 2040 sounds more like the 100th, if all that info. is right. ***But maybe you want it to be Knott's 100th, right? The Knott family began to farm the land in 1920. I guess the actual theme park / ghost town didn't begin until 1940. Depends how Knott's would want to market it.
  5. I absolutely love GCI's restraints. GhostRider's new trains are 1000x more comfortable than the old PTCs. Even if they do staple, they have such a nice curvature that is isn't uncomfortable at all. I didn't have any noticeable issues with Apocalypse, Lightning Racer, or Wildcat either. Skyrush is a gift to the world, and anyone who says otherwise is dead to me. America doesn't deserve it tbh.
  6. Knott's Berry Farm 2017: Soak City expansion, Sol Spin, Ghost Town Alive!, extended Boysenberry Festival (announced) 2018: Boomerang removed, construction begins for 2019, Sky Cabin replaced with 230-foot Star Flyer 2019: Small-ish B&M Hyper the runs out from Boomerang location across the road into the overflow lot and back or where there is space lol 2020: 100th anniversary celebration with whatever festivities the park has in store 2021: Continue with festivities or possibly a flat ride Most of this is me dreaming (like the rest of this thread). Of course, who knows if the park would go for a Star Flyer after their Windseeker episode, and the B&M Hyper is me just being hopeful.
  7. Maybe I'm missing something, but what in the video makes the tower seem so awesome? It has one nice pop of air at the beginning, then the ride is basically over. Is that the whole ride? I thought they were gonna shoot you down as well (like the other combo towers).
  8. I might be in the minority here, but I rather like not knowing what Mean Streak's layout and stats are yet. It's cool to watch them add more and more track with every new element a surprise. It definitely has potential to be the best ride in the park! And Frontier Town is the place to be in 2018.
  9. Maybe I just got lucky, but I visited Hersheypark last summer on Monday and Tuesday, June 20th and 21st, and the lines were extremely manageable. We had no need for the fast pass system whatsoever. It was beautiful weather as well. The longest line we waited in was for Laff Trakk, but it was still only about 30 minutes. Most of the big rides (Skyrush, Storm Runner, Fahrenheit, Great Bear, the woodies) were between 0-15 minutes long. It was a great couple days and I NEED to get more Skyrush soon!
  10. Knott's Berry Farm 1. Silver Bullet. Ignoring the hideous all-red lift hill, I absolutely love the red/yellow/silver/teal combo. It's extremely unique and very pleasing to the eye. 2. Boomerang. It's a terrible ride, but the colors are fantastic. If only it rode as good as it looks. 3. Pony Express. Again, it's a lackluster ride, but the colors fit the theme and area of the park perfectly. 4. Coast Rider. Definitely a "California" coaster that has a perfect boardwalk/beach colors. 5. Monte. The new orange and dark green is alright. I think I'm more hung-up on the fact that the park has another orange coaster more than the actually color scheme itself. It's growing on me. 6. Sierra Sidewinder. Like others, I would love to see this coaster with a green and brown scheme that blends in with the trees and Camp Snoopy. Other than that, it's similar to Pony and Monte and is what it is. 7. Xcelerator. The pink and teal totally fits the '50s theme, but I don't know, it's just become so faded over the years. It's definitely a unique scheme (really only comparable to the former Carolina Cobra colors), but I'd love to see it repainted, even if it's the same colors. 8. Jaguar. While the tan supports are a MILLION times better than the blue, the coaster is just an eyesore for me. I guess I dislike it because it has awkward-looking supports that stand right over the walkway more so than the scheme itself. It's another orange...what can I say. I left out GhostRider for obvious reasons and Timberline Twister because who cares.
  11. Cool! When I first heard that Six Flags was cloning the Joker 3 more times in 2017 I was pretty reluctant, but now that they are all actually rising up it's exciting to watch. I really enjoyed the one at SFGAdv, so they are fun rides regardless of the overused theme as of late.
  12. Great updates. It'll be cool to see what comes in 1999. Would love to see an old-school B&M Hyper like Apollo's Chariot or Raging Bull!
  13. I sure hope so. Considering a lot of the station has to be gutted to make way for the floor mechanism, it only makes sense they would kill two birds with one stone and add a roof. Heck, even something cheap like Full Throttle's is better than nothing. Either way, I'm super excited to visit CGA this season. Been dying to get out there and try Flight Deck and Gold Striker.
  14. This had me thinking... If they were to repaint Xcelerator, how would they be able to paint the Top Hat? There's probably a way but the fact that it doesn't have a catwalk on top (or whatever it's called that Kingda Ka and TTD have) makes it seem very difficult. This is just me thinking out loud, but I'm sure they could put a crane in that small backstage area or, if they needed to, close off part of the road behind it for a large crane. It probably is more difficult than most coasters, but I wouldn't label it as impossible. I guess the day Xcelerator gets re-painted is also the day Tatsu gets re-painted
  15. I agree. Goliath is definitely near the bottom of my rankings of hyper coasters, but that doesn't at all prevent me from enjoying the ride. Most of the time I avoid it because the queue can get nasty long in the summer (especially since they've added the seat belts). It holds its own and is still, to this day, one of the smoothest coasters I have ever ridden.
  16. Aside from it's obnoxious all-red lift hill, I absolutely love Silver Bullet's color scheme. I can think of 5 other coasters in the park I'd rather see painted a different color before Silver Bullet. So now that Monte is about finished, that means every coaster in the park has been re-painted in the last 5 years... except Xcelerator. Is there an actual reason they are keeping it that super faded pink? I don't buy the "it's too difficult to paint" reason, considering Cedar Point was able to repaint Millennium Force and Top Thrill Dragster.
  17. 1. Twisted Colossus 2. X2 3. Tatsu 4. Full Throttle 5. Goliath 6. Superman 7. Batman 8. Viper 9. Riddler 10. Ninja If Apocalypse ran smoothly like it was 5 years ago, I would throw it in between Goliath and Superman.
  18. Can Twisted Colossus PLEASE have those train lights as seen at 3:24?! Interesting video. I guess that's what you get when you have a huge theme park close to LA.
  19. While still much better than some other coasters, Maverick is definitely starting to fade quite a bit (it's especially noticeable if you watch the new POV Cedar Point uploaded on YouTube). I wonder if they'll repaint it a nice bright red in 2018 when its new neighbor draws most crowds back there.
  20. While we're on the topic of Goliath, I've always wondered something. What company or manufacturer supplies parts for Goliath and Titan? Since Giovanola is obviously out of business, is it Intamin? Or do they make them in house? I've always been curious if anybody knows.
  21. No lie, last night I had a dream about this. I have no idea why, but I did. The dream started at last rides on MS. As we exited the ride there was a sign for MS, and I thought, "Well, they are not going to need this, I wonder what's on the back of the sign." I look behind this sign and there is MS 2.0's layout! It was called HYPER (terrible name) and had the rendering. I take a quick picture of the layout. But things get bad quick. I freak out because Tony is walking my way! So, now I have this information of a sick layout, but I can't share it or Rob bans me from TPR because CP did not release it (even though it was on the back of a sign in the park. OR, even worse, Tony bans me forever from Cedar Point because.... Tony. The stress was too much and I woke up. What the crap, I think to myself. I have no idea why that was my dream, but I guess my subconscious wants to ride this thing, and soon. (I have met Tony before, and he's just as cool of a cat as you would expect. I don't think he would just ban someone.) Bill, I will have to tell you about the Von Roll dream, being built in my backyard. Seriously, I check in here like twice a week, this is getting out of hand. This is so great!
  22. Right now, unfortunately. When was the last time you rode a Vekoma SLC?
  23. Might be unpopular opinion, but Kingda Ka. Physics or chemistry?
