Probably not with the trim on the drop
The announcement said the highest inversion is 140 ft. I would believe the first one would be the tallest.

Ugh, this coaster can NOT open soon enough. Every photo I see of it is making me want to book a flight to Utah that much more. I can NOT wait to see the finished product with all of its theming!

One month and 20+ pages back I said I was seriously considering changing my 2015 coaster trip plans in order to hit up Lagoon next year. With this last handful of construction photos that "seriously considering" is now a firm 100%. Cannibal is now my #1 Must Ride new installation for 2015.

You took the words right out of my mouth! I plan on going to Carowinds for Fury325 (world's tallest non-launched full circuit coaster). Holiday World for Thunderbird (world's first launched wing coaster)! And I'm going to try my best to get to Lagoon Amusement Park for Cannibal (steepest drop in America)! Three of the "MUST RIDES FOR 2015" in my honest opinion.

Is there a local lore behind the name, like the New Jersey Devil, that I'm missing? If I were in a "name the coaster" meeting at Lagoon, I'd never give Cannibal my vote, unless there'd already be a widely-understood campy/humorous context that would fit the attraction, or a strong Halloween tie-in. A huge attraction shouldn't risk tripping over itself with a name that carries an off-putting connotation, right down to the images and page results that could come up when kids or families planning a visit to the park type "cannibal" into a search engine. Is it any worse than "Murderer -- it murders other coasters, get it?" It seems like a name that might work in a kitschy-humored European park, but I never got that vibe from Lagoon.

I do think the ride nevertheless looks awesome! I'll raise my glass in a toast to hopeful smoothness. I'm glad the park is getting a legitimate big league attraction, and I hope it's a hit!

Ok, wow. That. Drop. Looks. Epic. I mean, the steepness is sustained throughout the drop - not just a few feet like an El Loco. Lagoon sure is going outside of their bounds - I could honestly see this putting them on the map.

Seriously! These pictures from Lagoon's official FB should be making the front page! I cannot wait to get back home this summer to ride this thing. Wicked and Bombora have been amazing in house coasters (in terms of their intensity and smoothness) so I'm confident that this one won't be any different. This is going to be a coaster that will put Lagoon on the map for a while I think!

That looks ridiculous. I have no idea how I haven't heard of this project until now! Also the fact that it is all attached to a building adds to the weirdness.

I just can't imagine what a hyper coaster with a 116 degree drop would feel like!

I recently saw pictures of the completed helix.

I also found this video online yesterday. I don't think it is completely accurate but I believe it gives the best rendering of Cannibal we have thus far. Looks like it will be an amazing coaster.

I just thought of something. If this roller coaster is 208 feet tall, can't it be classified as the tallest looping roller coaster in the world? And shares the same speed as Viper and Full Throttle, so maybe not the fastest. But this is he first roller coaster to have an inversion and be over 200 feet, right?

Diving Coaster at Happy Valley in Shanghai is 213 feet, so it's 5 feet taller. Mr. Freeze also technically is taller at 218 feet, but it's not a full circuit. I also don't know how high the train actually goes on that one.
