MrTwister Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 first..... year thats great german engeneering! second .. its only a eurofighter.... with a house arround it.
Golfie Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Wow... that second drop will be PSYCHO!!! I can't wait to see what this ride will end up to be. The theming looks so awesome, but I just can't imagine how all the track will weave in and out of it. Andrew "Ameri-Fighter w00t!" C.
Ryan King Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 Ive never posted here..Bit ive kept up with the updates...And I must say...WOW! They are smashing on that coaster! Dollywood will be seeing me shortly after opening that coaster! Let the pounding begin... -Ryan
BeemerBoy Posted August 26, 2006 Posted August 26, 2006 ^ Dollywood says thanks for the warning. It's nice to see three big '07 projects already in full swing this early. I'm anxious for Night of Thunder. Hopefully we'll get to learn a little more about Mystery Mine.
Twister II Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 So can we safely say 3 lifts? At least 2 will be *NINGTY DEGREES*. Quoted from the Mystery Mine site, the tallest drop will be 85 feet. Neither of those lifts look to be 85ft.
trustkill22 Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 This is wild on how fast this thing is getting erected. The theming I think should be great with how fast the track is going up, Its seems like it will give the Great Canadians loads of time to put in some great entertainment.
jarmor Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 So can we safely say 3 lifts? At least 2 will be *NINGTY DEGREES*. Quoted from the Mystery Mine site, the tallest drop will be 85 feet. Neither of those lifts look to be 85ft. the twisted one looks like the 85ft drop to me...
Leaf Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 Wow! A TWISTED 95 degree drop. Thats awesome! But whats up with the brakes before the drop? Never seen that on Eurofighters...
owen Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I would image just before the drop there may be some kind of projected film or maybe an animatronic , a bit like Jurrasic Park's Trex. O live the rustic colur they hav given to the track
ECZenith Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 I agree, the second lift looks to be the one that leads to the 85', 95 degree drop. I like how it drops below the level of where the lift starts. The other drop will be the broken trestle bridge outside and the big one drops out throught he facade of the show building. This is going to be a great ride!
jamesdillaman Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 ^ Yeah, I see it. The track should be done probably by the end of the month, and they can start hammering out the themeing, which is what's really going to make this ride stand out above the rest. -James Dillaman
Electerik Posted August 27, 2006 Posted August 27, 2006 After all the progress last week, I decided to drop by today to see if there was anything new since Friday. And while it's not really worthy of a proper update, the frame of the building now seems to be going up around the larger of the vertical lifts.
ParkTrips Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 When I heard that one of the drops will twist, I was let-down. That could end up hurting like a you-know-what in a few years when the Gerstlaurer in the ride shines through all the themeing. At this point, I kinda hope it has lap bars, but I doubt it.
ECZenith Posted August 30, 2006 Posted August 30, 2006 I wouldn't worry about that part of the ride being rough as plenty of coasters with vertical drops have twists in them and are not painful at all. As for lap bars... no way. That rollover loop will have so much hangtime and even the concept art shows OTSRs. Would be nice though!
robbalvey Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I have updated the Mystery Mine construction page: http://www.themeparkreview.com/dollywood2007/dollywood2007.htm Thanks to Jarmor and Electerik for the pics! --Robb
RCfanatic Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Wow from the looks of it this thing is going to be great! I like the look of that "twisted" 95 degree drop! And what's that inversion after the drop? It looks like a Zero-G/Heartline, but its so low and so short after that drop, thats going to be a fast Roll! I'm kind of jealous of this ride! I mean its themed and its got 2 vertical drops! All this thime the European Eurofighters are unthemed and most of the time they're Gerstlauer models instead of custom designs, they're even starting to copy them here! Anyways it looks like a great addition to Dollywood, i can't wait to visit the park someday, it sure is on my "must-do-in-USA-trips" list now!
thomas2 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Any ride with 2 vertical lifthill is fine for me!
nannerdw Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Did anyone else notice the reverse banked turn? I think it's a Gerstlauer first! I'm sure it will be really unexpected.
niiicolaaah Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 I've said it before and I'll say it again: I so have to go to Dollywood once this ride opens.
tinflowers Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Did anyone else notice the reverse banked turn? I think it's a Gerstlauer first! Wow, I didn't notice that. Insane!
alpengeist04 Posted September 9, 2006 Posted September 9, 2006 Mystery Mine is coming along nicely. Next year can't get here soon enough. Thanks for the update Jarmor, Electerik, and Robb.
Reon Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 That reverse turn should make for some nice trick track =D
ECZenith Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 It'll be even more freaky in the dark! Can't wait to see the completed inversions! Thanks for the update.
pluto crazy Posted September 10, 2006 Posted September 10, 2006 i went to dolly wood in middle of june and they had the mystery mines signs up all over the park and i got a glimpse of the ride car over by thunder head just as you exit the ride. but when i went they had only started building a building back there
