FishyFish Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 (edited) So, say you're desperate for some coaster ridin' fun. What's the closest ride to where you live, as the crow flies. Let's discuss the big coasters, not kiddie/family coasters. Mine is this bad boy! About 20 miles / half-an-hour's drive away. The Runaway Mine Train http://rcdb.com/id3259.htm Beat that, thrill seekers! Erm... Look at that for a ride! Dare you board the RUNAWAY MINE TRAIN!!! In the background you can just make out poor old Bug Run where it's been put out to pasture. Eat up that grass little catterpillar guy - you'll soon be a beautiful butterfly! SonOfBeastSucks Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 The closest coaster to me is 20 minutes away, the rest are all over an hour. It is Kombo, a typical Zierer clone, and it is in the Indianapolis Zoo.
niiicolaaah Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 This fine piece of CCI goodness: Silver Comet. I am proud to say I am about a 30 second drive from it. Ooh baby... now that's what I'm talkin' about. Mmmm.... Silver Comet!!
ElBlufer Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 One of the coasters at Magic Mountain is closest to me...I think its either scream, collossus, Dejavu, or X (always forget how the freeways curve
Carnage Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 One of the coasters at PCW. Probably Ghoster Coaster. Or Mighty Canadian Minebuster if you count the turn around.
momo1tx Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 One of the SFA coasters... wait, I forgot about Jeepers. It's the damn Python Pit at the Rockville Jeepers. I'm not so low that I intend to go out ten miles to get a kiddie credit, though.
Reon Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 PESPSI PYTHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON! *and the crowd goes wild* http://rcdb.com/ig406.htm Coney Island is about 15 minutes from me. Im trying to land a ride-op job this summer...And maybe record a pov for ya'll? Next closest is Beast (closest coaster to my direction, PKI is about 30 minutes from me)
resonancej Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I think the direction I'm coming from technically Dueling Dragons is closest (go ahead, be jealous
Darien Laker Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Oh no....I think SFDL's Mind Eraser is the closest one that I know of. Makes me want to move to some town on the other side of the park.
Wes Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I could throw a rock and hit Joey/Mummy (assuming I could throw a rock seven miles).
Angry_Gumball Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 My closest coaster is about 10 minutes or so away, though I'd have to bribe a kid to ride it if I were desperate. Gotta love zoo coasters!
cfc Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Apollo's Chariot--just fifteen minutes away. Fabio's Bane
Jordan Shankman Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Heh...this is about 20 minutes away from me. I'll admit, I make frequent trips.
ECZenith Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 SFNE's SROS You can see the first drop and Scream! come into view as you're going over the springfield bridge.
Angry_Gumball Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Well, for another week or so (carnie), there's a Wacky Worm coaster like 5 minutes or so away from me...I drive by it every day on my way to college.
pkdcoaster Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 southern most coaster at PKD.......GRIZZLY JEFF
HCOSurfer90 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Mine used to be the Coaster at Nunley's, it was only 5 minutes away, unfortunetly I can't find a picture of it but the Lil' Phantom at Kennywood is most like it. Now it's The Hurricane at Adventureland: http://rcdb.com/ig409.htm?picture=1
rollermonkey Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 Straight line distance, Surf Coaster (TOGO) at Hakkejima Sea Paradise is 4.26 miles from my house and 2.95 miles from my work. I can't see the coaster from work, but I can see the dolphin show pyramid, the Intamin observation tower and the 2nd tallest Intamin drop tower in the world, Blue Fall from my 'office' window. It takes about 20-30 minutes to drive depending on lights and traffic, a little longer by train. I've only been three times in three years.
ShoubraStreet74 Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 The closest coaster to my house is Xcelerator at KBF at a distance of 23 miles.
