Where Are You Going in 2017?

Recommended Posts

Just finalized booking a 2 day visit to Holiday World in July. It'll be my first visit ever and I'm kinda pumped. Will most likely hit KK for my first visit there too either on the drive down from Cleveland or back.

Besides that I'm looking at a east coast trip going north from BGW and ending at SFNE, hitting as many parks, piers, etc along the way as possible. That depends however on a buddy's leave from the Navy.

Either way 2017 is looking like a great summer now because I'll finally hit up HW after about 10 years of wanting to visit!

No huge trips planned, going to try to scale back and do lots of mini weekend trips. Already renewed my Six Flags season pass. Next summer the BF and I are planning on hitting many of the Six Flags near the east coast.

-Six Flags New England

-Six Flags Great America

-Six Flags Over Georgia

-Great Escape

Maybes:

-Six Flags St. Louis

-Six Flags Mexico

And even further out we plan on skipping Six Flags seasons passes all together i n 2018 and moving on to Cedar Fair since hes never been to most of their parks in the area.

I hope to hit a few locals. SFGADV for sure. I plan on hitting the new credits at the Jersey shore especially since Gale Force was an epic fail this year. Seaside isn't that out of the way with the Eurofighter they're building. The icing on the cake would be Knoebels which I hit at least once a year. If all goes well I can pick up 5 credits next year all in my home state of New Jersey.

Flying from UK into Toronto for a 10 day road trip down into the US to do these parks for the very first time:

Cedar Point

Kings Island

Kennywood

Six Flags Great Adventure

Darien Lake

Canada's Wonderland

It's gonna be great!!!!

Sounds like an amazing trip!

If I were you I'd definitely add Hersheypark to the mix, it's pretty much on the way between Kennywood and Great Adventure and even though I've never been there it looks like one of the best parks in the world. If money is an issue I'd replace it with Darien Lake since that park will pale in comparison to the other parks you're visiting.

I know I already posted here but now this year is looking a bit like this:

Home country parks: Liseberg and Gröna Lund

Trip 1: Hansa Park and Phantasialand

Trip 2: Alton Towers and Thorpe Park

Trip 3: Djurs Sommerland (and maybe Fårup)

It's almost gonna be great. The only thing that stops this from achieving greatness is its lack of Knoebels. You're practically going to go right by it. If you need to skip another park to add in Knoebels, skip Darien Lake. Do not miss Knoebels.

Hopefully I'm going to do a Great Adventure > Hersheypark > Knoebels trip either 2018 or 2019. In the start it was just gonna be Six Flags and Hershey but because of the fact that Knoebels is literally right on the way to Ithaca (which is my next destination) and also FREE, it's not going to be hard convincing my family to go there too.

You need to go to Knoebels, especially if you're coming from a different country. It's the ultimate classic American park!

Thanks for advice guys, good to know that we have chosen well! Any advice or tips for when visiting those parks would be appreciated.

I don't think that Knoebels was ever on our list when planning - not sure how or why - as it would have been a great addition to our trip. All of our hotels are booked now, so don't have the option to change - but all the more excuse for a return visit for another trip!

I was lucky enough to win the 1st ever pair of passes to Ferrari Land at PortAventura World since my original post - so I'll also be visiting there too in 2017 - just a pity I won't be able to make it to opening day due to work...

Will be doing my usual trips to Alton Towers and Thorpe Park in 2017 too, along with hopefully a few more of local UK parks depending on work/family commitments.

Darien Lake sucks, so once you get the credits just leave and hang out in Niagara Falls (on the Canadian side) or go to Martin's Fantasy Island since it's on the way to Niagara Falls / Canada's Wonderland.

Too bad about Knoebels, I'd suggest adding it the day before Great Adventure and cutting Darien Lake entirely.

Due to some issues with financies for next year I've decided to revise my plans a bit:

- Heide-Park around Halloween and/or Phantasialand Wintertraum

- Local parks like Tivoli Gardens, Liseberg and maybe Gröna Lund during summer

- Djurs Sommerland if I can work out the logistics

Since a few people here have listed beyond 2017, here's what I have planned:

2017 - Cedar Point Coastermania! Tour with buddy Bert!

2018 - Hong Kong Disneyland & Ocean Park with David ~ We "turn" 46 years together, woo hoo!

2019 - Knott's Boysenberry Festival & Disney, and (hopefully) WCB ~ Disney ~ Universal.

2020 - Amsterdam and Walibi Holland (maybe Drievliet and Duinrell too?), Paris and Disney Paris.

2021 - Not too sure about this year. Maybe a tour including Dollywood and Silver Dollar City?

2022 - Tokyo Disney Resort ~ Our 50th Anniversary ~ David and Me.

2023 - Return To Hong Kong Disneyland Resort! (Maybe?)

So far, so good, huh? (Posted on Mon Nov 14, 2016 6:08 pm)

Adjusted and Fixed. I'm missing HKDL too much, not to go back there, even if all of it's "future" isn't finished just yet.

So that will push returning to TDLR to 9 years between visits. That's okay. Then everything new there, will be finished!

Blackpool Pleasure Beach, it's where my loyalty lies as far as the UK parks go, however I do expect to do a few trips to Alton Towers considering I've got a pass for Merlin attractions.

Walibi Holland is planned for September so I'll probably do the trip by road stopping at Plopsaland and Toverland on route, maybe some other parks too. I've done Efteling once before and didn't really enjoy it so won't be too fussed on visiting there, I'd like to fit in Walibi Belgium somewhere though too.

PortAventura is happening for the opening of Ferrari Land and other visits to make use of my season pass, it's my favourite park.

Most important, Florida, for two weeks and for the first time ever!

It's the end of the season for a lot of us, and many of you early planners like me are looking forward to next year! Here's where I'm planning to go:

Absolutely:

Probably:

Holiday World

Kentucky Kingdom

Beech Bend

Dollywood

Lake Winnie

Alabama Adventure

Possibly:

Knoebels

Hersheypark

Dorney Park

Six Flags Great Adventure

Morey's Piers

Make sure to stop by OWA when it opens.

In a few weeks - Universal Orlando and Seaworld

This Spring - Holiday World, Mt. Olympus (not my choice), Timber Falls, SFGAm

Summer - WoF, Dollywood, Carowinds, all the alpine coasters in the Smokies... well, that is if they're not charred

Fall - SDC
