robbalvey
This video pretty much says it all: Thoughts? Here's their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/AvalancheWaterslides Edited August 4, 2015 by cfc
MayTheGForceBeWithYou
Looks intriguing...I decided to look at their website to see if it had more info, and I found this: Looks like the slide would use this "raft" in a similar manner to those back pads Aqualoops sometimes use, albeit beefed up. This would fall in line with the "no skin contact with fiberglass" and "Burn Free Guarantee" claimed by the manufacturer, as well as the need for an "integrated conveyor system". Projektion
I'm genuinely confused how a slide can have a vertical drop (and not just that, a vertical drop without a trap door) without the riders coming up off the slide
nannerdw
I'm genuinely confused how a slide can have a vertical drop (and not just that, a vertical drop without a trap door) without the riders coming up off the slide The rider is secured inside that raft capsule thing, so instead of lifting up off the slide you would just fall into the harness. Hopefully the capacity won't suffer too much as a result of the restraint system. Now what I really want to see is a "train"-style raft. Imagine the ejector air you'd get in the back of a 3-person raft!
SuperShawn
That is terrifying!
cfc
Action Park was merely ahead of its time. Not sure if I would try this or not.
coasterbill
Since Action Park is going back to their old branding to try to drum up some business I would be very disappointed if they didn't buy one of these. It would be a brilliant plan especially if they had one before anyone else in the area.
Keetz
Action Park is a shadow of what it used to be, but it still is a fantastic water park with a dash of "I might die right now." They have 25 foot cliff jumps, a "family" raft ride that feels like they laid down tarp down a mountain, and other crazy stuff. This type of slide would be awesome there and could start rebuilding their reputation as an insane water park. For those not familiar, this was built at the park many moons ago and only operated for a short time. For more info you can check out this page http://www.sky-chaser.com/coasters.htm or just google around.
YourPalJay
All I can think of when I see that sled is the Hollywood masterpiece "The Running Man" with Ahnold.
Rai Fox
The idea of being restrained in water makes me more than a little nervous...but just the same, this looks pretty amazing, and I'd have to try it, terrifying or not!
nicman
Unfortunately it does not break any height records for a waterside.(record:168ft) But it will still be awesome!
cfc
^Well, it does have a loop, you know. In fact, I daresay it's the tallest vertical loop on any existing water slide.
jray21
I'd give it a try! With a capsule/vehicle/running man pod, it's more like a ride to me than a water slide. It does look terrifying!
RCjunkie
Sure I would try it, but only after I see a few people ride it without getting killed, hurt or maimed. This is my personal litmus test for any ride.
cfc
^Sounds like a wise policy. At least, unlike the infamous looping water slide at Action Park, this one uses a ride vehicle. The Action Park version caused a number of injuries.

grsupercity
^ As opposed to a square loop? I would love to ride that thing!!
djcoastermark
It does look really scary, yet fun at the same time. I'm curious though, is this still in the design /debugging and testing stages or is it something that's really ready for humans to ride ?

Yep, it looks like that is probably what you'd be riding on while on this slide. It looks a bit gimmicky, but nonetheless lots of fun for sure, especially with that vertical drop, and I'd certainly ride one if there was one near me. Once the big news networks get ahold of this, I can't wait to see how the GP reacts .
coasterer22
I didn't think I'd see anything this week more frightening than Orlando's Polercoaster... but this may just do it.

nicman
This will probably be the most intense water slide ever, even more intense than the 168ft one!

Philrad71
Action Park was merely ahead of its time. Not sure if I would try this or not. 100% agree...Action Park is the first thing I thought of when I saw it too!
Jew
Using a little vehicle like that is smart for being able to have a truly vertical drop experience and the standard loop orientation. Something about being stuck in that device and drowning scares me though if there's a blockage or something crazy! That would be my biggest concern too. But I am sure they thought of that...or so we hope!
