TyRush Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 That is the safest looking coaster i have ever seen Although Some of those dilapidated Chinese/Japanese coasters are worse
Vtafro Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 That looked awesome, not sure if ill ever get to ride that model. RIP jet star in seaside, you were replaced by a lesser model that ended up in the ocean.
caffeine_demon Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 I get all teary-eyed when I see a schwarzkopf video! Can't believe the last time I went to alton towers when the black hole was open I decided not to go on it (been a few times since and miss it!!)
darklingscribe Posted April 8, 2013 Posted April 8, 2013 That looked awesome, not sure if ill ever get to ride that model. RIP jet star in seaside, you were replaced by a lesser model that ended up in the ocean. Well look on the bright side, at least the cars of Jet Star were sold off and got to enjoy a life elsewhere according to rcdb. Nothing from Star Jet survived Sandy's wrath.
robbalvey Posted April 8, 2013 Author Posted April 8, 2013 (edited) Nothing from Star Jet survived Sandy's wrath. Star Jet wasn't a Schwarzkopf, though, it was a horribly rough death machine that Sandy got it's revenge on after it tortured so many people! On the bright side, I can only assume that Casino Pier will replace it with something better! (I can't really imagine something being worse!) NOTE - the Star Jet coaster that fell into the ocean due to Sandy DID in fact "replace" a Schwarzkopf Jet Star, but it was not the Jet Star that Sandy destroyed. Edited April 8, 2013 by robbalvey
Tanthus Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Ok... tried looking it up couldn't find out what mechanism does that lift hill (loop) use? It looked like the cars actually have an electric motor in them. Fun looking coaster though. Looks like that Mexico trip filled in all the rest of the rides from that I've never seen before from Rollercoaster Tycoon.
Coaster Curt Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 That Huracan thing looks like something I will never ride, can't handle that much spinning.
rcdude Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 It seems like there are a lot more videos from the Mexico trip than there are from similar length trips elsewhere. Maybe that has to do with this being the first trip to the region? Not complaining at all, as I like watching these and seeing the variety of attractions that exist in Mexico, just making an interesting observation. Also, I loved the Vine video. I think that perfectly shows off the variety of things that goes on when you travel with TPR, from coasters to culture and a bit of randomness as well. I'll look forward to these from future trips if you decide to continue making them.
Nrthwnd Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 ^ Personally, I think it "might" have to do with it being just a week long (weekend to weekend) tour, which is really short for TPR. They're back home now, so Robb and Elissa can post stuff a bit easier, without a few weeks' long to deal with. And with everything they're up to and involved with, too. IMhO. Bearhugs to all.

Not complaining at all, as I like watching these and seeing the variety of attractions that exist in Mexico, just making an interesting observation. That has a lot to do with it. Also, the fact that there weren't that many videos to make probably helped too! Honestly, other than a video of the Pinfari and the Roller Skater at Six Flags, I think that's all the videos we did! Whereas the China trip, I think I posted something like 40 videos from that trip, and I still have at least 40 left to do! Also, I loved the Vine video. I think that perfectly shows off the variety of things that goes on when you travel with TPR, from coasters to culture and a bit of randomness as well. I'll look forward to these from future trips if you decide to continue making them. Thanks! I really like Vine a lot! Like someone said, when I string them all together, it's sort of like a short Coaster Expedition video. That's kind of my goal from it! I plan to do more Vine videos, and like I did with this one, I'll string them all together so that people can get an idea of a week-long trip in 4 minutes. --Robb
jray21 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Gotta love a Schwarzkopf! They really are fun rides.
netdvn Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Those Vine videos are perfect for posting trip highlights. I'm looking forward to seeing more of those on future trips/trip reports.
disneymoc Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 (edited) Pardon my ignorance on this topic, but since these coasters still have a cult following and provide a good punch is it possible for parks to buy clones of these. I know that many probably aren't interested because of the latest and greatest coming out every year, but you can't beat a good ride like these. I'm afraid they are going to be lost for future generations because of age, etc. Edited April 10, 2013 by disneymoc
markysharky17 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 It's so nice to see a B&M invert that can compete with Montu!
robbalvey Posted April 9, 2013 Author Posted April 9, 2013 Today's Daily April Video is an awesome look at Phantasialand's Black Mamba! EVERY REPLY YOU MAKE HERE WILL GIVE YOU ONE ENTRY TO WIN A BAG-O-CRAP! (Yes, multiple comments DO count for more than one - but don't be stupid and post like 20 times in a row and keep your posts ON TOPIC with the videos!)
Nrthwnd Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 ^ This is one of my absolute favourites, when it comes to the ride AND the immersive themeing. Must get back there some year soon. Great video, Robb!
EPfan1 Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 That looks insane! I'm going to visit phantasialand this year...Black Mamba you're mine
BenFreeze Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 Black Mamba looks like a great ride! I just love the way it interacts with it's surroundings. Great video!
rcjp Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 ^You can walk through the loop. On 1:50 you can see that bridge that goes through it. Nice that you got a mounted POV of this ride. The theming is just awesome and it seems pretty nicely paced. A bit like nemesis but quite a bit less intense.
Vtafro Posted April 9, 2013 Posted April 9, 2013 This just makes me wish all B&M's were themed at least a little bit better. Wish Ill eventually get to ride this.
Whodey Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 When is Cedar Fair going to theme a coaster like this one? That was great.
bert425 Posted April 10, 2013 Posted April 10, 2013 LOVE the way it goes in and out (and around) the buildings. extremely well done, and I'd love to get to ride this some day. but until then. . .. thanks for the POV!
