PrismTx Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 1999, went to Cedar Point for the first time and rode Raptor, definitely a good coaster to spark my interest in Inverts.
DarienLaker Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Batman: The Ride, SFGAdv  No, if any "Batman: The Ride" clone should happen to be the first defunct B&M coaster, it would be the original one at Six Flags Great America. There was a "Batman: The Ride" at Six Flags New Orleans that almost became the first defunct B&M coaster until it was moved to Six Flags Fiesta Texas as "Goliath"!

CPmillenia94 Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 Are there even ANY B:TR clones that are showing age enough to consider that they may close even in the somewhat near future?
rcjp Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 The oldest one I've ridden was at great adventure last year and it was in great shape. Super super smooth.
Jcoaster Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Batman the Ride at Great Adventure in 2002. I was 10 years old and scared Shitless.
Cyrbuzz Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 Mine would have to be Kumba at BGT, considered one of if not the best old school B&M's. I remember riding it in 1996 and this thing blew my mind. A few months later I got my first trip to Cedar Point and was introduced to Raptor my first invert. The rest as they say is history.
GwaziBSRider1 Posted September 17, 2014 Posted September 17, 2014 I think it was Mantis at Cedar Point, but it could have been Raptor, too. It was back in 2002 when I had just hit that 54" height requirement.
jd5189 Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Batman the Ride at Great Adventure in 2002. I was 10 years old and scared Shitless. Â I second this. Batman was my first B&M. I didn't know it was B&M at the time, all I knew is that I thought I was going to die as it was my first invert coaster!
hey...hey Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Either Apollo's Chariot or Alpengeist...probably Apollo's Chariot. Â Oops, forgot for second I was there the year Mantis opened, so it would be Mantis.
Cmbgo12 Posted September 19, 2014 Posted September 19, 2014 The Incredible Hulk... I was 8 so I rode it back in 2006. I ended up riding Dragon Challenge later in the day, but the Hulk was my first B&M. It also happens to be my least favorite, but that's due to an incident that happened in 2011

Because I am too nosy to stand for vaugeness.
dannemon Posted September 20, 2014 Posted September 20, 2014 It was the Ice side of Dueling Dragons at Island of Adventure back in 2000. I was 9 years old and have a slight memory that we started with Ice after a ride-op saw that and I was really nervous and recommended it as it wasn't as intense. Can't really remember if that was the case but still a nice gesture!
sirspud Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Montu at BGT, followed later in the day by Kumba. For some reason I was far more terrified of Kumba than Montu, which I saw as the less notable little brother. That's how big of an impression being around Kumba was before I was old enough to ride coasters like that (I attended the park shortly after it opened, which was a HUGE deal).
WFChris Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 B:TR at SFMM... Â Â Or was it Psyclone due to the trains? Â Â Or was it Flashback due to them having some kind of role in the design process?
jten11 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Kumba the year it opened! My first big-boy coaster
