I agree, most of those rides mentioned above that were removed were a shocker, for one the BBW! i am also familiar with like Kongfrontation and Back to the future in Universal Studios were also one of those that I regularly go to when I visit those theme parks. I always love going to theme parks eversince I was a kid, up to now that I am an adult since I say they give joy for people of all ages! Im so sad everytime most of those rides I saw through time gets removed from my favorite theme parks, though sometimes I eventually come to love the new ones as well.I guess they have to evolve through time.

Knoebels swapping a Schwartzkopf for a Vekoma, and the demise of the High Speed Thrill Coaster.

HSTC being removed kinda surprised me, but when you think about it it was bound to happen sooner rather than later. At least they replaced it with something just as good (so I hear).

I was only 2 or 3 when Jet Star got replaced with Whirlwind, but man I wish they never did that. Whirlwind was hot garbage and its' replacement is entering it's 7th year of construction.

I know it's been said a few times, but seriously, AstroWorld closing was a huge punch in the stomach. And it turned out to be a really stupid move, considering the fact that SFI ended up making less than half off the closure of the park than they were anticipating. And this was a park that was turning a profit. And I can only imagine that it would have been turning that much MORE of a profit if the company had been regularly investing in it. I'll never get over that.

Also, before SFAW ever closed, it was SHOCKING (at least to me at the time) when they got rid of Excalibur, in my opinion the best Arrow Mine Train ever built, to make way for the Vekoma hang-and-bang that easily could have fit elsewhere in the park. Tragic.

Yeah, I can't quite get my head around Big Spin leaving, unless it's going to a park where it will be especially helpful. It did have long lines consistently, but that could be interpreted positively as popularity rather than just low capacity. And it seemed to fill a family ride niche in the park without being too tame (I liked the zippy speed and the airtime).

Eagle's Fortress. I remember the last day was a Sunday in January of 2009. I remember the days leading up to that day being bitterly cold. On the morning of what would be Eagle's Fortress' last day, I went outside to take out the garbage and I was shocked at the unseasonably warm temperatures. I had been staying in most days due to the cold weather, but I immediately knew I wanted to go to Everland. I went out there and knew rode the Eagle's Fortress the whole day. For whatever reason, I didn't go to T-Express or any of the other rides. I just stayed at Eagle's Fortress the entire time. The park closed at 9:00pm that night and I rode almost up until closing. I decided to leave before EF gave what would be it's last ride as I was tired and planned to be back in a couple of days. If I had known that EF was going to take only one last flight, I would have stayed until the end. I was on the next to the last ride of this beautiful coaster.

Eagle's Fortress always had one of the longest lines at Everland and was one of only four rides in the park that had a fast pass system. I would have thought the popularity of this great ride would have kept it around for many years to come. Rolling X-Pain always seems to have only a 10 minute wait with only one train running, but Eagle's Fortress could have close to a 90 minute wait with two trains running.

There will never be another Eagle's Fortress.

batman and robin the chiller by far, it made me so sad , i still cant get over it.

I agree, I also didn't understand it what so ever. I get that when the ride first opened it experienced growing pains as did both Mr. Freeze coasters, but by the time alterations to the track started to be made and and the eventual removal of the ride came, I would assume the kinks with the sister coasters had been ironed out (they are still operating). I definitely think that six flags would have been better off spending money not to re-track and eventually demo the ride, but to upgrade/retrofit the ride with improved LIM systems.

After all, despite not having ridden it, my knowledge of the ride layout tells me that Dark Knight for Chiller was a grossly uneven trade.

^Premier coasters are one of my favorites, highly underrated and on the verge of being brilliant...the Mr Freeze coasters and all of the Poltergeist models are amazing rides, and if Great Adventure and Premier would have just worked with it a lil more, the coasters would still be there!

Stealth, CGA. It was built at probably the most difficult park to get a building permit at; many proposed rides came before and after it. Paramount was lucky they even got the permits to allow it to be built, not to mention that they spent $17 million on it. It was open for THREE YEARS before they trashed it, and replaced what may have been the only ideal plot of land the park had for a coaster, with a water park that is open 3 months out of the year. The reason they did this was to enter the family market. Yet, SFDK started doing the same thing in 2003! The replacement of this fairly compact coaster for a water park almost sabotaged any future chance for future coaster expansion. Now thae ride is at Carowinds. CGA really needed a new coaster A LOT more than Carowinds did. That statement is really even more true now, considering nothing new was added since.

Simply put...ASTROWORLD....Texas Cyclone(the BEST clone of the original, even better than the original) and Greezed Lightin'(which is sitting rotting in a field...also the best Schwarzkopf shuttle loop, hands down!) were two major losses to the industry....and geez, the only coaster to relocate was a crappy Vekoma Mind Eraser...(Thriller left before the park closed)...Houston should have held SFI accountable and put the bastards on trial!

Mayan Mindbender got relocated as well. It's Hornet at Wonderland in Amarillo. For me, I'd have to say...Shockwave at SFGAm. I mean, yes they should keep the Whizzer, but SERIOUSLY they could have found room for Superman somewhere else.

The only real shocking removal of any ride was the Steel Phantom in 2000. As a teenager I didn't know better nor did I care about anything else in the world. It's like Coca Cola, but instead of bringing back the original Phantom they just made it better in my opinion. Airtime and speed over loops and headaches any day. Speaking of which can we get our B&M hyper someday? At one point it was rumored that Kennywood was interested in getting one. Hell, two hypers in one park would be awesome.

800th post btw, it only took me 6 years.

I'd say Zambezi Zinger.

It was a classic, fun, and pretty exciting so I don't really know why they took it out. I'm pretty sure they removed it because of expensive maintenance costs and they barely had any parts to keep it updated. But yeah, when Cedar Fair removed it the visitors hated it. Epecially when they found out Boomerang was coming in.

For me it would be the People Mover at Disneyland.

It was a great ride, where you could just kick back for 15 minutes and have a amazing view of tomorrowland. It didn't need any alteration, it was great the way it was. I never got tired of riding on it, and it was a fun way to just hang out with whoever you were with that day and relax.

I hope that they can somehow bring it back again in the future.

Well you can still ride it at Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World. I did this past October.

Nightmare At Phantom Cave at Darien Lake. I remember it boing a pretty OK ride, especially for a park who had so few coasters at the time. Also, it was only open for two years before it was moved to Great Escape... Seems like a waste of money to me. Moving a ride after two years.

When was this rumor? Is this pre or post park sale?
