dstephe9
Hopefully there were more coasters on that list because if they do anything like the announcement with Samsung (and I'm sure they will) that pretty much puts the VR on mindbender. The announcement clearly has the word lift hill in it.. now I'm sure they could do something different than the corporate announcement but I don't believe they will personally.. I hope it's not on mindbender either Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
Password121
Why the hell would you put VR on a star flyer? I at least understand the purpose with coasters (even drop towers since there's a surprise drop and forces that could play into it) but the *only* reason to ride a 200+ foot swing is the view. That's it.

voyage_thrills
Couldn't find an S&S thread so if there is a more appropriate place to put this please move. I'm curious to see what all the "Larson Loops aren't coasters" whiners will have to say about this new S&S concept. [youtu_be]https://youtu.be/ZSHiubQ8_CA[/youtu_be] I honestly (hope Six Flags ordered these and they probably have) think these are better than Free Spins. This would fill the launch and wing coaster gap at this park.

That's it. I just honestly wished they put it on Joker, the Larson looper, and call it a day. Not put it on any coaster. I know a lot of folks on here hate the looper but it's actually a very popular ride in the park that really needs a longer line (lines always full) and people always seem to have a blast on it.. I don't think the VR would be very fun on it.. Honestly, I like the VR and think it's neat.. I like VR in general though.. Six Flags Over GA just needs to find a better way to use the VR.. putting it on a coaster that has much better capacity would be a start then having more Ops to facilitate it would help.. They should have at least two full trians of folks ready to board at all times ( the boarding train and a standby).. I know that's a lot of headsets but this is what will keep the lines down! I know they are also worried about people stealing the headsets but if they have a controlled environment and the staff, that shouldn't be an issue.. coasters NORMALLY only have one way in and one way out! Hahaha Implemented correctly and VR is a great thing.. if you don't like it, just pass on the headset.. if it's implemented correctly, it shouldn't hurt wait times. voyage_thrills
Anyone got an update on rumors for VR? I hope they are going to release it within the next few days. I'd be soooo upset if it goes to Mindbender or Goliath.

coasterer
I could actually see it working out okay on Superman if they used both platforms - one for VR and one for none. That might actually make sense. My vote is to move it to [the trash cans] Blue Hawk. It actually would have fit in somewhat nicely with the retheme. And there is never really that much of a line for it anyways. And I never really have a burning desire to ride Blue Hawk regardless so nothing is lost. Lord have mercy don't move it to Goliath or Mindbender.
SFOG1991
I think it would make sense at Superman with the dual station, and there is a good chance that will happen. My only disappointment with this is that we won't get to see Superman operate in all of its three train glory. Also, I'm sure the VR line would back up beyond the queue split for the two stations, so in the end everyone would be stuck waiting with the VR people while the non-VR is under-filled. They would probably need a longer separate queue for VR. Maybe they could run a temporary railing splitting the queue into two, but I don't know if that would fit. ideally, VR would be reservation only through Flash Pass entry. That would still back up non-VR Flash Pass users though. If it goes to Blue Hawk, I could see that working if they are running both trains. Expect super slow ops though. Also, the line was decently long during a few of my visits last season, especially with one train ops. VR ops would probably be lower hourly capacity than one train non-VR, so the line could easily still get VERY long. So essentially... VR is a bad idea on every coaster in the park (unless they did a reservation system and only applied VR part of the day)

voyage_thrills
Is anyone going not this weekend, but next weekend for opening day? I'm wondering about VR, the trains (and hopefully paint) on GA scorcher, Superman repaint and 3 trains?, and JLBFM. I'm really hoping that the "new" area around superman and JLBFM looks nice, too (but it's six flags, guys).

Not a coaster, But, unfortunately that means one of the best drop rides in the U.S. is basically gone because of all the long lines. This is from the Six Flags Website. dstephe9
I personally like VR and think it'll be very boring on Acrophobia but oh well.. I still feel blue hawk would be a good choice for it. But VR on a ride going up then down once I feel will be lame Sent from my Nexus 6P using Tapatalk
deaconnor
Also I hope that doesn't mean the ride ops will stop singing because that's one of my favorite things about the park.
boldikus
I appreciate the fact that it seems the park purposely puts people who can't sing on that ride. Makes the experience that much more demented.
robbalvey
North America’s First Drop Tower VR Ride Launches for 50th Anniversary Season at Six Flags Over Georgia Park Opens March 11 with Spider-Infested Virtual Reality Experience AUSTELL, Ga. — March 3, 2017 — Six Flags Over Georgia, in partnership with Samsung Electronics America, Inc., the “Official Technology Partner of Six Flags,” today announced an all-new virtual reality experience, Drop of Doom VR. The country’s first-ever permanent drop tower VR attraction is a thrilling, immersive encounter with giant, mutant spiders and makes its debut on March 11, as part of the park’s 50th anniversary season. “We continue to explore new opportunities utilizing Samsung Gear VR technology and this drop tower concept is a great example of the ability to change content for different rides,” said Six Flags Atlanta Properties Park President Dale Kaetzel. “We look forward to having our guests experience Drop of Doom as we kick off the beginning of a very special year, filled with new thrills, new reasons to visit and new memories to be made with family and friends.” Riders, using Samsung Gear VR powered by Oculus, will become the pilots of a futuristic gunship under attack by mutant spiders. This intense, interactive adventure features: - A high speed virtual vertical ascent up 100 stories, while teetering off the edge of a helicopter; - A 360-degree rotating view high above massive city skyscrapers that are under siege by enormous spiders; - A high-intensity gun battle against a giant arachnid, spewing baby spiders that virtually crawl all over the rider’s body; - A thrilling virtual 100-story fiery plunge straight down between towering skyscrapers; and - The final showdown with a spider the size of a van, teeth-gnashing and in full attack mode. For a limited time only, guests can experience the Drop of Doom virtual reality attraction free with paid park admission. For Opening Weekend, Six Flags Over Georgia will honor the Big Game bet with its sister park, Six Flags New England. As a result of the Atlanta Falcons’ loss, the park will rename its 240-foot tall swing ride, The Patriots SkyScreamer and Park President Dale Kaetzel will ride the thrilling attraction, wearing a Patriots jersey. The park will sell a limited amount of New England clam chowder to All Season Dining Plan guests. Later this Spring, the high-action thrill ride JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis in 4D will make its debut. JUSTICE LEAGUE: Battle for Metropolis is an engaging, full-sensory action ride, with guests joining forces with BATMAN™, SUPERMAN™, WONDER WOMAN™, THE FLASH™ and GREEN LANTERN™, using stun blasters to defeat Lex Luthor™, The JOKER™ and his henchmen. Recently named by USA Today as one of the 12 most anticipated theme park rides for 2017, construction on this state-of-the-art attraction and the allnew Metropolis Park is nearly complete. Six Flags Over Georgia is now open on weekends March 11 through May 14 and daily for Spring Break April 1 – 9. Summer daily operation begins on May 20. Season Passes and the All Season Dining Pass to Six Flags Over Georgia and Six Flags White Water in Marietta, which provide unlimited visits and meals all season long, are available online.
