P. 322: "Georgia Gold Rusher" announced for 2025

yeah. . not a good look.   I would guess a Chaperone Policy is gonna be announced sooner, rather than later, to make the General Public feel "safer"

tho not sure how effective that would be regardless as not all Teenagers are the same, so they end up punishing the good kids along with the troublemakers.

Six Flags Over Georgia has struck gold! The all-new Georgia Gold Rusher includes the first of its kind free-spinning gondola riding experience, delivering the ultimate thrill combo of a high-speed, high-elevation ride with twists, turns, and exciting water features.

Georgia Gold Rusher’s Backstory

“There’s gold in them thar hills!” Georgia’s gold rush in the 1880s brought prospectors from far and wide to extract the precious ore. One such miner was William “Willy” Gibson, a young, smart entrepreneur with a wily streak.

With thoughts of “work smarter, not harder,” Gibson figured out a way to avoid the hard work of manual labor to mine gold. He used a steam-powered hydraulic excavator. The giant machine slugged forward and backward through a huge water reservoir, twisting and turning the dirt below with the hopes of loosening valuable gold from the soil. It worked beautifully—and offered folks a refreshing treat, too.

Sometimes when townspeople needed a break from the hot Georgia sun, Gibson let them cool off with a thrilling spin on the machine. Riders enjoyed refreshing mist of water as the mining sled careened up and down the U-shaped track.

What is free-spinning gondola seating?

Free-spinning gondola seating delivers an exhilarating experience like no other. Riders sit in outward-facing circles on two free-spinning platforms mounted to a massive gondola. The gondola launches back and forth on a 590-foot, U-shaped track reaching speeds up to 60 miles per hour.

The Georgia Gold Rusher packs in numerous hair-raising airtime experiences, taking riders to dizzying heights of up to 144 feet. When gravity eventually takes over, riders dive straight down and glide across a water reservoir. The unique free-spinning platform ensure guests enjoy a different thrill experience with each ride.

I somehow overlooked SFoG also not opening this ride up last year. Got marginally excited for a second there. That'll learn me.

That said, the rename is a slight improvement.

So, I was able to ride Georgia Gold Rusher today. While it was a decent ride, the water seems to be pointless. just a small Geyser of water. has some decent speed with the drop but could be better. The wait wasn't too bad with the first 3 hours being exclusive to season pass holders. I think we waited about 20 mins from two thirds in to the queue. Needs more Scenery as well. We did enjoy the ride enough to wanna ride again later when it's had time to run for at least a couple more months.

I noticed in some of the videos, the "splashdown pool" doesn't fill up, so the only water is the fountains?

I wonder if that's a Mack design patent, so they can't do that?  or if that part of the ride isn't ready to go yet and will eventually have that splashdown area?

I don't think this installation is supposed to get people wet.  I don't think the fountain does much more.

On media day the guy that owns the patent for this ride was at the park.  Aquaman at OT is also based on the same patent.  Saw a short interview with the guy and I'm pretty sure he said he was gm of Over Georgia years ago.  He seemed proud which is cool to see.

Looks like a one and done to me.  Good chance I'm at the park next weekend for a few hours and will give it a try.

According to park management, the water features are programmable with at least four different settings, and can be turned up during warmer weather.  Additionally, the theming and scenery are not completely finished.  More stuff will be added and all the wood railings will be stained to match the rustic color of the buildings.

I was able to preview this ride on media day and really think this is a solid hit for the park.

I had noticed this from all the videos I’ve seen. The water “splash down” almost seems pointless. - I get that it’s good for visuals, but it’s not like the Mack Powersplash that actually gets riders wet. So this is like a non-water water ride.

looks like a fun ride, but not what I was originally expecting when it was announced.
