DaMarkSta Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Wow this is looking better and better everyday. This is easily becoming my most anticipated coaster of the year. I love all the extra theming, really makes a difference. Can't wait to ride this at Holiwood nights!!!!!
chargersmichael Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 ^Dang...this is going to provide a lot of cool headchoppers!
ZeroGravity55 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Even more pictures from HW's Facebook: Â Â Â
thrillseeker4552 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 That first picture is awesome! Thunderbird is looking really good. Can't wait to see testing.
chargersmichael Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Those "hands" in the last picture! Haha! Thunderbird is looking amazing. Can't wait to ride it this summer!
PVA62 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Even more pictures from HW's Facebook:Â Â This has been bothering me for awhile but there was never a close enough picture to tell. But is it just me or does the inline twist not look very smooth? It just doesn't look like it flows well. Almost like the first piece over-rotates and then the second piece goes straight for awhile then continues to roll. It may be just my imagination, but to me it doesn't look like it flows. I'm sure it won't have a major affect on the ride at all, just a thought.
Comeagain? Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 It looks like it's rotating about the left rail, so it appears in this picture to not flow well. At least that's how it looks to me.
Midgetman82 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 It's coming in from a really steep upward helix (or "carousel"). So I'm certain part of that curve on the first part you mentioned is the track ending the carousel, then it straightens out before transitioning into the roll.
rcjp Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 (edited) ^^^They all look weird from that angle for some reason even if they ride smoothly. Look at x-flight's and raptor's: Edited February 1, 2015 by rcjp
Baffles Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 All of the wing coaster inlines look like that - it's due to the strange position of the heartline. Â B&M just don't screw up with these kinda things..
ZeroGravity55 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 ^ Exactly. The shape of all the elements on the wing coasters looks weird.
Nickstroberg Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 I think it also has to do with the turn prior to the inline. That straight-ish piece might be the point where your body is transitioning from the positive vertical gs of the helix, to the lateral gs of the inline. I'm pretty sure its shape a particular way for the forces to smoothy transition from one to another, rather than jerk from one type of sensation to the next like an old Arrow.
rcjp Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 ^That's it! I'm sure they know what they're doing but I love how awkward it looks!
ZeroGravity55 Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Some new photos with different angles from Thunderbird's Micro-site       Â
drummermattk Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Does anyone know what they announced at the conference or what was in Chicago? and wasnt there another near miss element they where supposed to announce? I already know bout the Sparkler so that should leave one left.
lbeeler Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 They was not joking about the near miss elements whew. it looks extra tight
DoinItForTheFame Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 You know... Holiday World was never on my "Must Visit" park list. I can say that Thunderbird has changed that. I can't wait to get out to the park and experience their new coaster!!
thrillrider Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 You know... Holiday World was never on my "Must Visit" park list. I can say that Thunderbird has changed that. I can't wait to get out to the park and experience their new coaster!! Â It should be on your list. It's a great park even beyond the awsome coasters.
mikejenkins1 Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 So will there be an on-ride photo and if so where?
Brassinthegrass Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I'm sure they will... I could see it either on the launch, or after the vertical loop...
JWAddington Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Looks like a great ride! Just may have to make the 8 hour drive to check it out, plus the woodies that i have been wanting to ride since forever!
nicman Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 I really want to go ride it now, hopefully I will be able to go, those pictures just make me want to ride it now.
thrillrider Posted February 4, 2015 Posted February 4, 2015 Love this park, but the one thing I could never understand is why there are not more hotels near the park. There is all kinds of empty land, and I am sure there is a demand for economy and moderate end rooms in the area. The only hotels I am aware of right by the park is the santa lodge and a chain hotel(can't remember the name) 6 miles away. Â The santa lodge is nice, but the rates are between $130 and $230 a night in the summer. It would be nice to have a economy hotel like a motel 6 or super 8 near the park. Â I am sure the park is going to have a HUGE increase in attendance this year with the new coaster, and people are going to need hotel rooms.
