Midgetman82
^If it's anything like my area's preparing for, then no. I'm about 2.5 hours south and we're getting prepared for daytime single-digit, nighttime -10 to -20 degree weather. And give the park patience. They wouldn't want their audience going gaga over a train idling in and out of the station now and then. Look on the bright side. on the day they're confident in going full power, you might see the train running the rest of the track!

Up here in the Evansville area we are dealing with very very low temps too. I believe we are under a wind chill warning or whatever they call it, during the day the temp is in the teens with wind chills in the single digits. At night it's temps in the the single digits with the wind chill going negative. Bitter bitter cold. I doubt HW really cares much if such a machine can or how well it would operate in such conditions, lol.
Raven Maven
So we never found out what thise blue-prints were that the Koch daughters were hilding in a photo? Presumably Will Koch's plan/idea for an inverted coaster and its layout before he passed (rip). Paula, any news on that front? The video we shot with Lauren and Leah showing their dad's plans for a steel coaster will be part of a longer video - not for a few more weeks, though - probably in March. Thanks, Paula
nicman
Holiblog Roller coaster countdown Everybody loves a good countdown, right? And when you’re building a launched roller coaster, it’s even more appropriate. Confession time: Back in the summer, toward the end of our 66 Days at Sea teaser campaign leading up to our big Thunderbird announcement, I slapped this title on one of Leah’s blog posts without running it through the usual eight thousand or so filters noisily housed in my feeble brain: “T-minus 12 days” Seemed like a fun reminder that in less than two weeks all would be revealed. Only moments later, though, someone chirped up online with: “It’s a launched coaster! That’s the countdown to a launch!” Oops. Following a moment of great discontent, though, I realized there had been so many clues mixed with so many red herrings over the two previous months that one person’s definitive clue would be another one’s proof that “they’re just messing with us again.” And so, when I glanced at my wall calendar (which doubles as a countdown calendar) today, the number “66″ jumped off the wall at me. What’s your take on 66 days? For the Pilgrims on board the Mayflower it must have seemed interminable. For our 90 full-timers here at Holiday World, it feels like a just a few blinks away. And for all of us in the deep-chill of winter, each day closer to spring is the promise of hope for the return of budding trees, blossoming flowers and short-sleeved shirts! HolidayWorldFTW
I'm watching American Idol and the guy that at one time in recent history was a Holiday World performer has made it into the top 24 where America votes. There has been no mention of his time at Holiday World yet, but I would not be surprised if he makes it even further if we don't here about it on the show. HolidayWorldFTW
He is actually quite good! It really says something about the quality that Holiday World searches for in all aspects of its park when one of its former performers makes it to the top 24 on American Idol! I'm not surprised though, the shows at Holiday World have reallyy gone up a few notches in the past I would say 10 years or so. I hope he ends up mentioning the park at some point in his journey on the show!

ZeroGravity55
The "out to launch" sign is back on one of the construction cams and the other is being re-positioned away from the station. Lets see if they can try this whole testing thing again, or maybe mother nature will have other plans again. Edit: Now everything is normal again. ZeroGravity55
^ Maybe you needed to clear your cache? We haven't adjusted the webcams today. When I first pulled up Thunderbird Cam, the cam was flipped towards the Legend Lot entrance coming off Highway 162 and the sign was up on the other webcam. I cam here posted what I did and went back to the webcams and everything was normal. I could have needed to clear my cache, but everything is normal now. nicman
HoliBlog Link Our Experts’ Best Tips for Landing a Theme Park Job Sometimes it feels like it was just yesterday that I was on my way to my first Job Fair with my dad. Talk about being a nervous wreck; I had no idea what to expect. As a shy 14-year-old, I was worried I didn’t have “what it takes” to work at a theme park. When it came time for my interview, my dad gave me one last bit of advice, “Just be yourself, and you will do just fine.” He was right. Soon after the Job Fair, I received my offer letter in the mail. And, well, the rest is history. So what does it take to work at Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari? And what does our management team look for in a seasonal employee? We decided to ask the experts themselves. Our Attractions team (aren’t they a fun looking bunch?) replied with this: In Attractions, we want to put on a show for our Guests while providing them with a safe and enjoyable experience at our rides, slides, and pools! Prospective Hosts/Hostesses should be excited, outgoing, engaging, and ready to have a great time. Above all, safety is our number-one priority. We are looking for people who are cautious, prepared, responsible, alert, attentive, and will always use good judgment. Rob, our Games Manager, along with his friend Minion Dave, give two thumbs-up to applicants who are excited by the idea of working at a theme park! After all, who wouldn’t want a chance to work with Minions? Next, we talked to our new Guest Services Manager, Angie. She looks for applicants with a good work ethic who are eager to learn, have the willingness to participate in conversation, and the ability to smile even if they don’t feel like it. Energy and enthusiasm, as well as a positive attitude is what our Jason, our Foods Director, looks for when hiring seasonal employees. Dilan, one of our Foods Managers, adds he is looking for those with confidence and the willingness to learn. He adds, It is no secret that this job is like no other and we’re proud of that! So being able to take initiative to consistently learn something new is how one can get the most enjoyment out of their employment here. Last but not least is Heather, our HR Director. Heather says she’s always looking to find someone who is interested in making memories for our Guests whether that be through excellent service or through a friendly smile. So do you think you have what it takes to help us launch into the 2015 season? (That’s right, we can’t forget about Thunderbird – did you know our employees will be among the first to ride?) No need to be shy, head on over to our Jobs Page and apply now! In the wise words of my dad, Just be yourself, and you will do just fine!

Ridewatchers
Pardon the interruption, but when did work on Thunderbird begin? We're getting a new ride here at SFMM, but they've already removed an airtime feature and are running late! Seems like your ride went up real quick! Raven Maven
^ We announced Thunderbird on July 24 last year - the date was chosen because our first load of steel was due to arrive the next week. At that point there were already lots of indications (footers, etc.) that something big was coming.
