P. 778: Pantherian project update!

It sorta ticks me off that they aren't changing the name. Cedar Fair is being REALLY cheap about that lately.

Atleast Six Flags occasionally changed the names of rides that got moved around because of the ride rotation program... Maybe it will atleast get new paint.

I know, what ever happed to, "We are trying to find a new great name for this ride and will be announced in November", statement from the GM earlier this month? Looks like they just were being lazy with the name like at Thunderhawk at Michigan's Adventure. Maybe they only change names of rides being transported to a park in the same state or next stae over (Firehawk and VooDoo). Dought it will be repainted, and if it is, it will probably just be the same yellow, blue scheme.

HAHA! cedar fair.... new paint? yeah right!

Just look at borg for an example of the great painting CF does!

Half of it looks like stealth now...

you can blame paramount for that...

CF still hasn't repainted it though, and they must've noticed the chipped paint when they bought the park, otherwise someone needs to get them some coffee!

^ A paint job for a coaster the size of BORG can exceed a hundred thousand dollars. It's not cheap and can't be done quickly.

How lazy is CF! Same name come on!

It definitely has nothing to do with the partnership being "lazy."

Why spend thousands of additional dollars on a new service mark, logo design, marketing materials, ride signage, when you can just reuse it? There is nothing wrong with the name Dominator. It's generic enough for Kings Dominion to use, and it also implies a ride of great power.

Cedar Fair is still carrying a $2.1 billion dollar debt, peeps! Don't forget that.

1. I hate relocated coaster threads. I reorganized my closet, but I didn't really get anything I didn't already have.

2. Anymore I just figure that CF sucks unless it is going to the Point. IMO.

Yeah, but I'm going to have to give them the edge over Six Flags as far as 2008 installs goes. They're installing a new B&M (Behemoth), while Six Flags is installing junk apart from the GCII woodie.

At least a lot of the new-for-2008 can be hit on one fairly easy trip.

A year ago I would have been going absolutely crazy right now. I used to be a big KD fanboy and would have welcomed the first good coaster for 10 years with open arms.

However, this year, I have been to 6 parks and have enjoyed all of them more than KD. I just don't get excited for anything happening there anymore.

Anyway, I will have a new local park next year-SFA with two world class rides and no queues-and Dominator ain't changin' that.

First love the avatar.

Second I disagree I would consider the GCI and Behemath to be a wash and at least all the other mouse coasters are new credits not just moved credits. Plus the last 2 years my SF experiences have been on the upswing, where the complet opposite is happening at CF parks. But hey that is just me.

Well it sucks that my home park didn't get it. I guess with HRP opening up, I doubt a new coaster would have stolen any thunder from HRP anyway.

Well, there's always 2009. I'm a little tired of used coasters anyway.

I'm a scholar. I enjoy scholarly pursuits.

Oh, I greatly prefer Six Flags over Cedar Fair. No comparison there. I just think a B&M hyper, goofy trains or not, is a much more impressive addition than anything Six Flags is putting in. But I generally consider GCII coasters to be good, but not great. And Nitro and Goliath SFOG are probably my two favorite hypers so far.

I am thrilled we are getting Dominator. Finally a good coaster with CAPACITY!! Location is a little weird but understandable. But I do think it will look fantastic when you come in the parking lot. (should get alot of ohhs and ahhs)

I don't see it opening till June though since it seems they do not want any body around such an easily accessible construction site. and the markers on the "scooby doo hills" are just for Grading .

I am fine with keeping the name (could be worse) Plus they have that big sign too (even though it is a dumb logo). It could really use a new paint job though. 8 years is a little long for a coat of paint.

I REALLY hope they do not mess with the brakes though It has always run awesome with the 2 trims not being used and the MCBR on very light.

Once again used or not it is a Great Coaster and I am very happy to have a world class unique coaster at home.

The GP probably doesn't know that this is used, and what's worse than people seeing a "new ride" that looks like it's been sitting and rusting for 8 years?

You forgot that the theme was and old abandoned ride called dominator, duh >.< they older and more in need of a paintjob it looks, the better.

CF may be adding more stuff, but look what they are taking away. A 100-year-old park and as far as I know, they are trying to destroy all of the Paramount themeing remaining at the 5 former Paramount Parks. Oh yea, and I could buy a Cedar Fair pass for 50 dollars less (and did but it) at this time last year.

Behemoth is nice, but I just don't like hardly anything CF is doing for 2008.

I'm with PKD. KD really needs a new ride and this fits the bill. Never made it to Geauga Lake so it's new to me. There's nothing quite like Dominator in the region (BGE, SFA, HP) so I think this is a good choice.
