Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
coaster05 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I am just tired in general of all the "world is going to end" threads that we have for so many parks. SF, Busch, IB, Conneaut, KW, etc. Just support the park and let some time pass before you make the judgement. There will always be parks going under and there will sometimes be new parks. The cycle just works that way. -
I agree with most of my UK trip brethern, though I enjoy Chessington much more then Blackpool. But, as Larry will tell you, I often have a very "unique" idea of what makes an awesome park. Ginzo, your orginal list is very good and after legoland I felt there was a huge dropoff in the quality of parks in the UK. Alton still ranks as my 5th favorite park out of 120.

^Next to Dubai. Tyler just ask her to do anything. That is why college is great. I took girls I liked to the grocery store and it worked. Just be real and have fun the rest will take care of itself.

The Pats will still make the playoffs. The back up is fine and you still have Moss to throw to. Remember Culpepper with Moss and without him. Just play solid defense and give him time to grow, from what I remeber the Pats have a medium to easy schedule so play it safe and let him grow. Remember without a bledsoe injury Brady would have never played. -

Why did you bring back Thomas Jones and not try to make him lose his job to Benson? -

Maybe as well as they did when Brady replaced Bledsoe. Seriously good teams can recover from the loss of anyone, even their quarterback. -

The union sucks thats why I am not in it. No I don't think the nea will support merit pay, that is why i wondered why you said his plans will have NEA written all over it.
-
^Great so they are the same and I personally don't think either one can pull that off. I wish and hope that either one can, but if their educational philosophies are about the same then I look at secondary issues to me and I agree with more of Obama's. Not all, just more.
-
Obviously, you missed the 2002 State of the Union speech when Bush singled out Ted Kennedy for his work on NCLB. Any teacher getting excited about Obama and what he'll do for education better be careful for what they wish for. My wife, a teacher, is dreading what could happen. Anything coming from Obama regarding education will have NEA written all over it. I wonder what DC school Obama would put his kids in. Definitely not a public school. Remember Chelsea Clinton and Sidwell Friends? Weird because he has said he wants merit pay and to hold teachers accountable, 2 things that are as far away from the NEA as you can get. There is also almost no way possible the gov't can screw up schools anymore then they have now. Again, why even in political conversations is it always about what the other candidate doesn't have as opposed to what your candidate can bring. So what are McCain's ideas on education? ^^As far as listing Obama's inexperience again please address how the Republican's can attack that, then put someone second in command with less experience? I have never said Obama had lots of experience, I just think experience is overrated.
-
^Thanks, so why is it that Bush was the one always talking about it? BTW Joe if you could find a Harangody or McAlarney avatar I will buy your lunch next year at Dollywood on Spring Break.

Unless they find heads in his basement I am voting for Obama. I like his stance on education a whole lot better and being a teacher that helps. I don't mind McCain's, but he is a republican and they gave my life no child left behind. Experience, in my opinion the most overrated thing in the election. We have had great president's with very little experience and crappy presidents with a ton of it. IMO this is a tactic to scare people into one choice over the other. Well he's got more experience so I'll vote for the old guy again. It kills me in a country where we force kids to grow up faster then they have had to since we were a agricultural nation, we can't look past age on these issues. Last I checked I don't really think there is a job that gives you "experience" on being the most powerful person on the planet. Not to mention does Palin have just tons of this experience stuff either. Our Balance of Power pretty much insures that his lack of "experience" isn't going to get us blown off the planet. His shiny cover, speaks so well, or any of those other things that people try to bash him on or assume that people are only voting for him because he's a celebrity. I am not sure how being one of the most dynamic speakers in the last 25 years can ever be a bad thing. He spends a ton of time addressing the public and other nations and I think it will be nice to have someone out there who can represent our nation. Bottom line as long as McCain represents what you want then all the more power to you. To be honest in a lot of elections he would easily have gotten my vote including the last 4 I have voted in, however in 08 that is not the case. Did Bush or the Republicans cause all this mess, of course not. However they they were in charge when most of this mess happened. Like I said I am a teacher and they voted in a plan to make me more accountable for my job, but never gave us the money to come close to being successful. Secondly I am tired of being represented by the same person since I have been old enough to vote. Obama helps me solve both problems and I am excited to see what he can do.

Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
coaster05 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Not cancelling on the new coaster, repainting half the park, building new buildings, are those all from the advertising budget? Again I am not saying it doesn't have issues this year. Seeing Cameron be dissapointed in the place lets me know they are having issues, however saying people won't go back after one bad visit is just a little extreme. If that was the case I would never go back to 90% of the six flags chain, anything owned by CF, kennywood, Holiday World and the disney chain. Pretty much if I followed the one bad visit rule I would only go to Adventureland in Iowa, BGE, Hershey and Knoebels along with a massive amount of foreign parks. -

coaster05 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I personally believe the doom and gloom for IB is a bit overrated at this point. They have added days and spent way more on advertising then I have ever seen from that park. That seems like a massive waste of money if they are not invested for the future. On the flip side I do believe the several people who have went there and said it was noticeably worse as far as service goes. I think we should see how next year turns out before we start deciding on when our last visit to IB will happen. -

Death Race, a ripoff of Twisted Metal?

It's actually a remake of a movie from the 70's/early 80's so I am thinking Twisted Metal is a ripoff of it. -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
coaster05 replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
How is Kennywood's price overpriced and CP's is underpriced. Also what exactly are the stats on where people from Cleveland spend their amusement park time. I am from South Bend IN and I prefer to drive past CP for a day at KW. Not to mention when you think of the amount of people inside CP, the total crap food they serve, KW is a great value. -
Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
coaster05 replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My parents, who do ride, paid either 15 or 17 to get in. The park at the mall of America is only 7 acres so you could do a lot with 50. I paid all of 22 off the internet and didn't pay to park. KW is a great value compared to 90% of most amusement parks out there.
