  1. I actually have found this pretty interesting and a nice change of place from the normal random threads. As I said earlier I do LOVE meat and even with the info I won't stop eating. that being said I have made some changes and some other things I have always done. I buy my eggs now from a private that has free range chickes. I would buy more beef like that but it is not readily availble in our area. I have never and will never wear fur and I use leather as little as possible. I also do my best to not buy from places that get charged with inhumane treatment, but I know I still purchase some. The part I hate about almost ANY environmental type group is that they want all these huge steps done, instead of starting small and moving up. some people might agree to one veggie meal a week, but they blast you with this no meat at all thing and it just turns you right off.
  2. We felt it in South Bend and actually had to cover the procedures at school in case of aftershocks.
  3. Jay, to be honest I don't get why someone would give up meat, but like almost everything in the world that doesn't effect me, it doesn't bother me. Vegan, gay marriage, etc those are all things that I am ok with as long as they don't effect me. Gay marriage great, just like "traditional" marriage I am happy for you. Don't eat meat, great saves some animals and it actually is doing some good, great for you. I do wonder why the no milk part of it?
  4. As long as they continue to increase things like games and food I could care less. I never eat more then one meal at a chain park and never play games. The parking doesn't bother me either because I have been to an ND football game and Nascar races. I would rather have parks increase prices and stay in business as opposed to the alternative.
  5. This doesn't surprise me as the last seven SF parks I have visited (SFOG,SFKK,SFGAM,SFNE, SFGADV,SFA,Great Escape) have all been pretty awesome days. Good service, clean, etc. Again they are not perfect, but they seem much better then that other chain that grew too fast.
  6. Back when I was in college the early April thing was awesome, we still had good luck on that weekend last year. Lines at both are really bad to me. Maybe it is because I have gotten spoliled on TPR trips, or the fact that I can travel during the week so I mostly avoid weekends other then Spring Break and Halloween. Or maybe it is just the fact that since I have rode those rides at both parks anything longer then 15 minutes is a hassle. I am not sure, but I would do anything possible to stay away from a Saturday at almost any park.
  7. In Spain I took the whole time on Tarantula, Superman at Parque Warner because they were excellent. I also took the full time on Stampida, because it was funny and I wanted to see if my body could take the abuse. I actually slept during the Dragon Kahn ERT on a bench outside the station. the ride was good but only great on one train, plus it was so much better at night I just relaxed.
  8. With me and KI it wouldn't matter if I could see it from my house, once a year would be more then enough. There is no park I have EVER been to that I could stand more then 5 visits a year too. For me, there is just way to much else in the world to do then to waste time going to someplace I have been to multiple times. I have way too many interests and as Joe will tell you I am not an enthusiast who does many multiple rides. I actually have no coaster that I have taken more then 50 trips on. Again this is my opinion and I am not insulting someone wha can go to the same park 40 times a season. Whatever floats your boat, I am just statoing my preferance as a basis for my opinion.
  9. There is no coaster good enough to ever make me visit KI more then once a year. Heck I have only been there twice in the last decade and that seems like too much.
  10. PKI I love how you don't want ginzo opinion forced on you, but when I criticized CP for what they have done to frontier trail you informed me"sacrifices have to be made" and "Go someplace else if you want a nature trail" I'm confused aren't those opinions, for that fact aren't all of our discussions based on opinions? I am not siding with Ginzo as I don't agree with all of what he has posted. The orginal comment was asking about what KI would do to that area of the park, and using CP or even Dorney as a reference my guess is they will ruin that area of the park to cram in a new ride. I hope i am wrong. I am also confused as how KI is not a theme park. Don't the have several themed sections along with themed rides? Or at least did until this year? I guess i have been to enough parks to say as a fact that you don't have to sacrifice thrilling rides for an all out park experience because so many places don't Alton, BGE, BGA, Universal, Port Aventura, SFOG, SFGAM, Liseberg, Tusenfryd, Parque Warner Madrid, etc.
  11. Well, when you're that cramped on space in a booming theme park, you need to make some sacrfices. If you want to take a quiet nature walk, then go somewhere else. People come for rides and coasters. And as James said; I could care less where they put it! We need a good ride. Great for you and I am glad you enjoy your parks with nothing more then coasters on top of each other. However, my orginal response was to the statement of them leaving a lake and part of the park alone which they probably won't. I also like how having one part of a huge park quiet and not hectic has somehow turned into me wanting a nature walk. Maybe CF can buy Alton Towers and they can git rid of the castle and the gardens and put in something awesome like a coaster with no air. Heck and since EVERYONE is at parks for coasters and rides they can get rid of all those annoying benches, shows, and landscaping, since none of that matters. Again if you are just a ride type of guy then CP is great for you, I just prefer the whole park experience of someplace like Port Aventura or BGE.
  12. Mike I am not sure. I think we got one in a mall that same day, plus Larry took me to the hell that is Blue Diamond. The dark ride was funny and not nearly as bad as most people claim. Course I was high on cinnamon and sugar and watching Larry get mad about buying tickets for it made my day. I would love to swing by this park again this year.
  13. Add the lack of trees in the waterpark and just the general loss of atmosphere.
  14. Mike those parks were part of the Bitner coaster tour 2007. Boomers is a hole and sums up what is wrong with our hobby. On the other hand Adventureland freaking rocks. I love that place and they have awesome churros. Plus we decided that the Hurricane was designed by Anton Schwarkopf's younger, not as famous, brother... Stevie. Yes the Hurricane was designed by lil' Stevie Schwarkopf. I am very dissapointed that you didn't do the dark ride. Rich "Everyone loves Adventureland, but Larry" Bitner
  15. ^ and ^^ have no real idea of what you are talking about. That area was absolutely quiet and didn't even feel like you were in the park when you were back there. That is no longer the case. I am sure it could have been worse, but if you went to the point before MF that area is no where as relaxing as it was. For me if you are going to build an area like that in the park, with no rides, then it should stay that way.
  16. ^You saw what they did to Frontierland (or whatever it is called) at CP for MF, right?
  17. Lovin the Tibadabo commercial. Great little park.
  18. I hadn't heard the Enchanted Forest jingle in years. It was close to my house, but I never went.
  19. The thing with this thread is so much of this is about perspective. I have only one visit to TGE and I thought it was awesome and it happened just last year. People in that area probably have a lot different opinion of what happened there. On the flipside, being a lifelong CP and KI visitor I think both have turned into places that make me hate the amusement park industry. For years I have hated how CP looks, but always felt they were run well. My last two experiences there have totally destroyed that loophole and I really doubt when I will be back. Related to that that KI had gotten so bad that I felt it actually had some improvement this last year with the CF accusation. Related to these things, I just got back from SFOG nd thought it was ran just as well as four years ago and found the rides to be excellent. I really question people who don't enjoy the GA Cyclone as I just don't find it rough. At wdw I do miss several of the old attractions, but I feel that the park as a whole is still amazing. Overall I feel as if the overall park experience is down across the board. Like shopping the amusement industry has become a bigger is better sort of thing. Service was lost for more rides, food was increased to cover new additions, and atmosphere was sarcrificed for marketing. For this I blame the customer. We vote with our pocketbook and we prove time and time again that the bigger corporate place is better then the small business. It is true of every industry in our country and parks are no different.
  20. This has actually made it sound worse. Especially since you have not lived through these things that means that your area is pretty isolated from them. So are you hoping that maybe a tornado can go right through the area your niece lives, that way it will really get the blood pumping. Imagine live news and the fear of losing a loved one, should be great for the old heart.
  21. I liked the video, but you needed more of those sexy people in the yellow hats.
  22. As I continue to read through this thread I am totally blown away by the comparisons to GA Cyclone. I just rode cyclone today and was nervous from all the recent reports of roughness, it was no where close. It was exciting with massive ejector air on the first five drops. Even four years since my last ride it still totally delivers.
  23. I wouldn't exactly call that fun. This year we pretty much had three months straight of subzero temps. And were getting pounded once every week by massive snow storms. One time it didn't stop snowing for over two days. These storms slow driving down to a crawl. I had a few commutes home from work that took me an hour to go just a couple miles. Plus water damage was a serious risk for most of the winter because of the build up of snow. And still is as all the snow starts to melt, an flooding starts. Plus snow means bad driving conditions, and a much higher risk of accidents. I had to spend $300 the other day to repair my exhaust system which was damaged getting my car out of deep snow. Snow like we had this past winter will get on your nerves very quickly. But hey, if you consider if fun to dig your car out of a two foot wide snow wall left by the snow plow, well whatever floats your boat. I agree with Carnage here. Blizzards are no where close to fun. I have lived through several and there is nothing great about them. Listing it as one of your 3 things you want to see seems inconsiderate to people who have lived through those things.
