Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread

^This will definately get the locals panties into a huge bunch. -
^Great for you. I've met my ex wifes family also but if one of them became famous it would still mean nothing to me.

Cedar Point or Kings Island?
coaster05 replied to NINCUB's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would actually go to KI in your situation. I love going to places I haven't been so IMO new park is always better then a park I have been to. If you remove the newness part of your equation CP is better on almost all aspects and both are equal in the area of losing the feeling about them I used to love. -

I'm curious about 2 things, first isn't Avalanche at Timber Falls, where you say Riverview is a gorgeous park? Second how can anything be hit by thunder? -
^^Again your post, while well written, proves my point. Why should the gym grade be based almost entirely on effort, while the math grade is almost based entirely on how you perform. Why the difference? I am also not saying that if you come to gym everyday and try your best that you should get anything lower than a B, but you should not get the same grade as the student who totally excels in gym. I also don't view gym as a training ground or prep class to be a pro athlete. Gym is so far away from the idea of any organized sport it is rediculous, let alone what a pro athlete does. Comparing the two illustrates what is wrong with the idea of gym in this country. I agree there are several reasons why a child can't perform well in gym, but there are also several reasons why a child can't perform well in math. Why in one case is that ok and the student should not be punished and still receive the highest grade and in the other instance you are just constantly told to "try harder"? I look at it like this, most people seem to think that as long as you come to gym and put forth the effort you should get an A, because you somehow believe you shouldn't have any negative effects for not being good at gym. So for the entire semester, with several different activites, including things such as running, swimming, biking, bowling, and the countless other examples I have seen on here, are you saying that NONE of these activities you can do well at all since, you are not good in sports? Now imagine you go to math class and you bust your hump to study for every test, complete all you homework to a very high standard, and even do extra work at home to make sure you are totally ready for the class. Then you find out the kid next to you also receives an A because everyday he came to class he remembered to get his calculator and book out of his locker (like being dressed for gym) and he placed his name on each paper and "attempted" all the problems even though few were right (kind of like acting there is no way a gym teacher could teach you enough to make a free throw) and now that student also receives an A because it is not really fair that his academic standard is hurt because he is "not really good at math". If the "gym rules" applied to all of school there would be no point in doing anything other then following the dress code and showing up on time to recieve perfect marks. ^Wow that is 100% what I thought about as soon as I read that reply.

I love the responses about how unfair it would be to grade gym based on your ability, or making it harder to get an A if you are not good at sports. Correct me if I am wrong on this, but remember I teach, but isn't an A in math achieved due to the fact that you have a lot of ability in math. Isn't your math grade based on more then just coming to class everday with your supplies. IMO a PE grade should be higher for those who are better at certain activities. I am really tired of hearing how unfair it is for "Steve" who is not good at sports to always feel bad about that because "Mark" gets all the props for being a good athlete. How about the rest of the day where "Mark" struggles in class but "Steve" rips through things because he is naturally smart. Why do we feel bad for Steve, but not as bad for Mark. More importantly why have we watered down PE to the point that the one thing "Mark" used to love about school, the one place he got to shine has been taken away from him. Making school even worse then it was before all because for 1 hour "Steve" didn't get to be the genius because he had awful hand/eye coordination. Wake up people not everyone can be good at everything. I sucked hard at Art and never had a chance for an A in any art class I was forced to take. I did my best and got on with my life. I survived the traumatic experience just fine and grew from the experience. Rich "We all have strengths and weaknesses" Bitner

I loved Gym Class when I was a kid. I loved the competion and aggresion we got to have before the panty asses started going home and complaining to their parents about being picked last. Get over it not everyone in life gets a trophy. Today most PE classes suck, we have a nation full of fatass kids, and commercials begging kids to go out and play an hour a day. I guess heart disease and a lifetime of not being able to ride Intamin coasters was better then feeling bad cause you couldn't catch a giant rubber ball.

Either you have the worse sense of sarcasm I have ever seen or this may be the worst post I have read. So a shrub (Bush not Busch) has two dive machines. One that is based on a screeching sound and the other is themed to Family guy (griffith not Griffin). Then when you combine the two 200 foot drops you end up with a 600 foot drop. (200+200=600?) Adding to this mishap is the 20th time someone asked where this place is while using a device that can easily find the answer to said question. Course considering your last sentence is a question, but you end it with multiple exclamation points leads me to believe questioning is also not your greatest skill. Every young poster on the site should read this as proof that it is not just the teens who butcher posts.

^I agree. What is it with so many of the male posters on this site. I think R&E should start selling TPR mace in the store.

I am also Loe credit free. The part the gets me is while my credit list stays at my wife and Robb, other people add the Melanie credit. I think the Melanie credit should at least involve a trade of some type. Skramp yours was probably a joke, but it seems like so many people who have never met Lou, Nicole, Hoffman Girl, etc. Continue to make those comments to people they have never met in person and to be honest it just seems creepy.

Highest $$$ Earning Roller Coaster
coaster05 replied to deano's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would cast my vote for Hoosier Hurricane. They picked up like a 35% boost in attendance, and have been able to maintain that increased attendance. Other ideas would be Raven, KY Rumbler, etc. All for the same reason that they massively boosted attendance and Raven was obviously the first step in sending HW into prominence. -

HW is the only park out of over 100 that has ever made me put my "coaster hat" off to the side as oppsed to in my pocket. They were total dicks about it to me and my dad. Personally I think "robotic" service is almost as bad as crappy service. Robotic service is my biggest complaint with CF. I still say Adventureland in IA is the best, most real service I have ever encountered at a park. -

Jahan your views of HW are right on line with mine. It is located in my state yet I have only visited twice, there is nothing really wrong with it, but no real reason for me to go back again this year, or last year. -
Sometimes it is so fast it blows the capital letters right off your post.

what, i don't believe nostradamus, why else would i say "lol, that silly nostradamus" It was a general quote based off of your statement. There was nothing in it directed toward you. My comprehension skills are good enough to pick up on the fact that you calling him silly does not in fact mean you believe him. However your total lack of the rules of capitalization leads me to believe you should spend more time studying and less time on the computer.

^Sillier people who actually believe that someone can predict the future. Why does our society have some fixation on trying to figure out what happens to them before it does. Seriously can't you just be happy that for the most part you have control of your life, I mean if we really knew when the world would end can you imagine how big of a$$holes people would be.

SFKK Northwest Territory
coaster05 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wasn't Superman a 200 foot tower and Chang comes in at 160 so they have some height to work with. I would never recommend a ride like Kannen, and as far as bulldozing the park at least there is more to do then Holiday World. -
SFKK Northwest Territory
coaster05 replied to DBru's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I hope it is done by 2012. It would be nice for SF to improve the aesthics of the park, as some areas are really weak. -
If it does end what in God's name is the point of even worrying about it. There is nothing you can do. Imagine how great it would be for the economy as we all charge out of our minds, knowing we will never pay it back. Due to Nostradamus I will now sign up for ALL the TPR trips, since I won't have to worry about debt in the very near future. DBru you have changed my life I am now off to tell my boss to suck it.
