Jeff's rules mean nothing to the common coaster fan as his count opens a wormhole to another universe. Not to mention at his age his bathroom credits are much higher then his coaster count.
-
^The wacky worm was fantastic, it is a shame you couldn't wait. To bad their isn't some loophole that would let you count clone credits you have rode someplace else. An idea like that would not only save time, it would be economical as well.

Kings Island Renames Rides
coaster05 replied to coolhandluke's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I really don't care much about the names, but I do think these new ones suck. Those rides at KI are still going to be just as crappy as they were, and Tomb Raider will actually be worse now, although it would be pretty hard to worse then it was. I do think a good name can really help a ride and both parks do pull out some orginal ones now and then. I personally just find CF to be the most corporate of all the parks. The walkways are always the same, the customer service is always the same, and the parks all look like mini CP's. That wouldn't be bad, except for the fact that these other parks are not surrounded by water and that gives CP the little bit of atmosphere it has left. -
Kings Island Renames Rides

For me I look at this thread as a little payback for all the crap SF has taken over the years for"How many batman and superman rides can you have". As a person who greatly prefers SF it was very annoying, but true. Now we see that when CF owns a large amount of parks they are just as crappy at naming rides as SF was. What goes around comes around. -

I agree with some of the points about things change, but it is weird that I don't long for the past when it comes to Disney, Busch Gardens, Sea World,Indiana Beach, SFGAM. I am curious as to how the people who feel it has changed for the worse just quicky get their opinion brushed to the side as nostaglia. Even if it was nostaglia wouldn't the lose of those things you mentioned about KI be a legitimate reason as to why I felt the park has changed for the worse. Things also do change all the time, and a lot of the time for the worse, New Coke, Hardees Chicken, the Star Wars Prequels, Sega Saturn to name a few. I am not crediting your opinion of the parks as a place that only a person raised on bigger is always better mentality can enjoy. I personally feel that both KI and CP were better when they had less coasters and more atmosphere. I never made it to KI when they had the safari, but I went to the park when the rides looked cared for and the park was clean.(KI was better this year) But having atmosphere should not be something that has been changed. As far as the personal boycott thing I do that quite regularily. I spent less then 25.00 inside CF parks this year (MIA, CP, KI,CW,PKD). Only MIA will be visited next year and only because my class voted that park as their field trip choice. No other CF parks will be visited this year and I personally hope to keep that up for the next few years. However I do realize that sooner or later they will add something I have to ride so I know someday I will be back, but as of now I look forward to an almost completely free CF summer. BTW Homer did you visit KI back before Paramount and CF. -

^Agreed i would rather have 100's of parks with one or two coasters then abunch of parks with 10 coasters. -

^Agreed. It is fine if you are just a coaster person. It is great if that is all you are about and that is fine. I get peeved when people say things along the line of "It's the best park because it has the most coasters". IMO those are two entirely different thing. Adventureland in Iowa to me is a much better park, but its coasters are pretty bad. So if you take my approach to parks added to the amount of credits I have, which has really lowered my view of CP coasters you might be able to understand more of where I am coming from. Example I used to Love Raptor or at least thought I did, but now I prefer: Nemesis Nemesis Inferno Alpengeist Montu Great Bear (i realize that is just me) -

I have been going to CP for 30 years and have over 20 visits, so it is not really a bone headed comment. For years it was my favorite park, but it is no longer the park it used to be and all they really have is a lot of coasters, but few good ones. I miss the dolphin show, jungle Larry's, frontiertown without a coaster running through it and stores full of junk instead of hand made merchandise, a full blown petting zoo, dark rides, multiple flumes and trees. Is that enough reason for you. I was happy with Maverick, just not at the expense of the flume. As far as it always being the number 1 park I could care less what the masses say, I go to parks for one reason and that is to have fun. I no longer have fun at the Point so I go a LOT less then I used too. I would prefer to spend my time at BGE, Hershey, Kennywood, Great Escape, Disney, Waldameer, Adventureland, SFOG, SFGAM, Alton Towers, Chessington or the 50 other parks that I have more fun at. I am happy you love it so and I hope you go all the time so that way I don't have to woory about you being in front of me in line at a park that has a good wooden coaster. -

Isn't that true for most of the major theme parks today? (and by theme parks I do not include Cedar Point, it was and always will be an Amusement Park) They are all a sad shell of what they used to be. Once they strayed from the "theme formula" they kind of lost their magic. Busch Parks (and of course Disney) are the exceptions. Both of the Busch Gardens theme parks have stayed true to their themes and to this day have exceeded my expectations! I doubt there will ever be a Ninja ride built in the Italy or Congo section of either park. They have come up with very creative and original names that are very marketable and tie in nicely with the theme areas that reside in. I agree, and with that body of knowledge you have i wouldn,t want to argue the point anyway. I will say that I feel this park has regressed the most out of parks I visited in the 80's and still today. I believe it has definately fallen the farthest. Personally I fell Cedar Point is a close second as I also think the park sucks now compared to back in the day. For me, more coasters usually means worse park. -

I can't really say Kings Island has potential. I define potential as the ability to be great or to exceed expectations. It was once a magnificant park, that was one of the best. Now it just has to rebuild, but even if it hits the level it once had it would just be a return to what it was, then it could look at future potential. For those who went in the 80's this place is just a sad shell of what it once was. -

Poutine is delicious, that I know for sure. -
As a person who has never rode it and one of the people who do find the updates annoying and really shouldn't care about this at all, I still have one question: How great can a ride be that has good seats, bad seats, good days, bad days, fast days, slow days, wet days, dry days, etc? I love the Phoenix and I have never heard any of this about that ride.

You have just won the lottery and bought a lake house but you need to save the 2.50 admission cost.

Lou the piece of Lion theming is my favorite piece of theming in amusement park history. I giggle at it everytime. I do have to say this TR makes me sad since you were so close to us and we just couldn't meet up with you. Guess I will just have to go to France to see you again.
