Canobie Coaster
I haven't really found any of the larger Arrow loopers to be rough. It's the smaller ones that seem to be the worst (Cedar Point's Corkscrew, Steamin' Demon, etc).
coasterbill
I've always found Anaconda smooth and enjoyable so I can't really comment. Yeah, I'm the guy. lol
coasterfan76
RMC Hurler is now listed on RCDB! It's name is unknown but they list it to be open in 2018.
AstrumSpark
Honestly Anaconda is nowhere near as bad as Shockwave and Hurler were. Unlike the latter two, it has a great layout, but has a certain way it needs to be ridden. Shockwave was just a nut killer and Hurler was an everything killer. bill_s
I've never been damaged as bad by Hurler or Shockwave as I have been on Anaconda (or Grizzly, RY or the flume or, really, Dominator or I305). But they did something (?!?) that made "the Spot" on the old snake a lot better 3-4 years ago and I'll have to check out if they've worked some more sledgehammer magic. Â As to Rebel Yell, I rode the South side and it's very smooth, but seemed slow. To my surprise they were racing it, or running both sides anyway. Canobie Coaster
Hurler was amazing in 2006, one of the years it was completely retracked. The ride was fast, smooth, and had really good airtime. My most recent ride in 2014 was rough, slower, and had much weaker airtime. I still wouldn't call the ride painful by any means, but I am glad it is being RMC-ed. Â I honestly preferred the Togo stand-ups to the B&M ones since they had less head-banging.

KIJester
To anyone on the board that is in the know.... Now that we know CF is in collaboration with RMC for MS & Hurler, does anyone have any clue (other than the expected construction delays) why it is taking 2- 3 years to convert a wood coaster to an RMC hybrid? Â Let's look at the stats... Texas Giant closed for 18 months during it's conversion (large footprint) Iron Rattler, Joker & Twisted Colossus closed for 9 months (remembering Colossus was dual track) Medusa & Wicked Cyclone closed for 10 months. I did not include ground up coasters like Lightning Rod and Outlaw Run nor did I include Storm Chaser due to it's steel support structure. Â So...with that said we know that KD Hurler closed in 2014 and MS in 2016. I can see the 2 year closing for MS due to it's large footprint, but if we use the I-Box conversion timeframes above, shouldn't we be looking at a 2017 opening for Hurler just based on the footprint alone? Unless CF purposely delayed Hurler, or RMC has a manpower shortage, I really can't see why we are looking at a 2018 opening.

Superbatboy
So...with that said we know that KD Hurler closed in 2014 . I'm pretty sure it closed at the end of 2015, I rode it in August of that year.

There didn't seem to be any notable work going on with the ride until after the 2016 season but they probably saw it as an opportunity to save money on staffing and maintenance for a year since the ride was tremendously unpopular and generated virtually zero in-park spending. Password121
They closed Hurler during the 2014 season as scheduled to allow a haunt maze to operate within its structure. That had nothing to do with its permanent closure. They didn't reopen it for the 2015 season, and I'm inclined to believe that was somewhat of a last minute decision/forced decision because of potential structural issues/dire need of retracking. Â They probably put out bids before the 2015 season for retracking and RMC came in with the most attractive offer and that (this is entirely speculation) was signed late in the 2015 season (as they originally said it would reopen in 2016 and they really have no reason to lie about that). Once that deal was signed, 2018 was finalized. Even if they could've rushed and gotten it done for 2017 and started work during the 2016 season, what's the point? They probably had already decided on the Planet Snoopy expansion by then.
coasterdude2011
Does KD have a haunt this year? Their park website is showing that they are closed after Labor Day this year. I can't believe they wouldn't do it here but it's odd that almost every other park has their hours for the whole year on lock and they don't. I definitely hope it's a glitch on the website rather than an early close to the season....
bgtlover
^They likely have not finalized the details and will update the calendar when they do.
leroyk
Both PKD & Cedar Point have new coasters opening up less than 2 hour drive from them now. Invadr at BGW and Mystic Timbers at PKI. Not sure if they would like the overlap or want the limelight to themselves. Just a thought on the seeming long rebuilds. It also gives RMC something to do in the "off season". leroyk
Kings Island is not "less than 2 hour drive" from Cedar Point. Wow you are correct. It has been too long since I made that drive. Almost 3-4 hours. A lot of country in between.
defrocker
We got confirmation that our annual company picnic will be held at KD on April 30th. That'll be my first park for the year. Man, I'm glad to be getting out of the off season.

coasterbill
Is mentioning RMC Hurler allowed? Â Walk me through your thought process... Â So you're not sure if you're allowed to mention RMC Hurler on TPR and in order to find out, you decide that you should immediately mention RMC Hurler on TPR. Really? Â To answer the question, yes. But why the hell wouldn't you just read through the thread or PM someone if you're not sure rather than breaking a rule that you think might exist in order to figure out if it exists? AstrumSpark
Words cannot describe how excited I am to have an RMC less than two hours away from me, and in the same park as Volcano and especially I305. This will give the park the airtime machine they've been missing. Â Really the only thing I'd want to see from here on out at this park is maybe a bonafide woodie like Mystic Timbers (GCI return of Grizzly maybe?). Otherwise Kings Dominion's lineup is 100% set both coaster and flat ride wise.
