Drop-Out Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 That makes two amazing actors in one month. Not a good start to 2008.
BeemerBoy Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Definitely a bit of a shock, and sad as well. One thing's for certain though, The Dark Knight will now reap the benefits of the "Brandon Lee effect."
Manny In England Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wikipedia says... "The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger's sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night." It could be connected.
WDWliker Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wow. How sad. It'll be sad for an actor to not attend the preimere. My wishes go out to his family and Warner Bros.
jackskellington101 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I didn't believe it when I first heard. I'm still a little shocked. As silly as this sounds, I was hoping that he could continue with The Joker after Dark Knight because he was looking and sounding so fantastic. Godspeed and safe home Mr. Ledger.
ginzo Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wikipedia says... "The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger's sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night." It could be connected. Sleep deprivation isn't fatal unless you get into a car wreck or something of that nature.
astroworldfan1 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wow. This is sad. He is the 2nd male actor to die in a month. He is now in a better place. He was a very good actor. My prayers will go out to his family.
Disney Dood Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Wikipedia says... "The challenge of the role put a strain on Ledger's sleep patterns, finding himself unable to rest for more than a few hours each night." It could be connected. Sleep deprivation isn't fatal unless you get into a car wreck or something of that nature. He probably meant that he wasn't getting enough rest so he took too many drugs to try and help rest, but pushed it too far. I wonder if the film will be pushed back. This will be interesting as it develops. Some people believe the role as "The Joker" ultimately lead to his death. He put a lot of work into it, kept a psychopathic diary to get into character, and even had a hard time sleeping. Supposedly, he OD on sleeping pills. The movie is finished, so it shouldn't be a huge problem with the date. It's just gonna be pretty sad and awkward seeing a dead guy act in a new movie...
Nrthwnd Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Sad to find out. Forever in our hearts, for "Brokeback Mountain."
Chrissie Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I actually can't believe it. Hes one of my favourite actors. He was only 28. My thoughts go out to his family and especially his young daughter
Zen Coaster Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Yeah, it's a tragic waste! It will cast a dark cloud over Australia for awhile to come. He would no doubt have had an extraordinary career, my thoughts go out to his loved ones. Great actor...loved his work in Brokeback Mountain, The Patriot etc. A talent snuffed out way too soon.
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I just got the text from my girlfriend and little while ago and pulled it up on CNN dot com. What else can be said, short of I'm shocked and very sad at this. I suffer from chronic insomnia coupled with heavy duty, scare the crap out of you nightmares. If this is what he was experiencing, my heart really goes out to him. Wouldn't wish that on anyone, not even my worst enemy. His poor family and child. That poor man...
the sound Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I was just about to post this. Yeah, it's pretty sad. He was a very good actor, his performance in Brokeback Mountain was very good. Although his death almost looks like a suicide by drug overdose. Which is very sad. My thoughts go out to his loved ones also.
KerryB Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I just don't even know what to say....Even though I was almost 30 when "10 Things I Hate About You" came out, I had a crush on his rock star vibe. The movie wasn't great, but he was fun to watch. I got through xray school by watching "A Knight's Tale" when I studied for tests. It was fun, light, and again he was fun to watch when I needed breaks. But he was also a still rising talent that will truly be missed. Future films will suffer for this loss, but greater still is the loss his daughter will experience for the rest of her life. This just really sucks. Farewell good knight, we'll see you on the flip side.
Guest Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 So sad :'( I saw this on the tv news reel. I just keep thinking about his daughter Matilda Rose who's only 2. R.I.P. BTW This won't affect The Dark Knight as the movie is in post-production. But it might affect the sequel if there was to be one. But I think the third movie is supposed to be about Two-Face.
SharkTums Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 This may just turn out to be a real tragedy. If he really did accidentally OD on Sleeping Pills and it wasn't an illegal drugs overdose or suicide like so many actors, it is truly sad. I also fell in love with him in 10 Things I Hate About You. Bummer.
sixflagsmagicmountain Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 ^ Very true, I don't feel quite as sorry for the ones who OD on illegal drugs, but the sleeping pills, if true, is just so horrible. I still can't believe it. He was always one of my favorite actors. This is truly sad, and my thoughts go to his family.
thefitness Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I also fell in love with him in 10 Things I Hate About You. That and A Knight's Tale, were my two favorite of his movies. This was really sad and shocking to hear.
CoasterJunkie Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 From what I read, he was found dead in bed, naked, with a bottle of sleeping pills nearby. He was found at 3p this afternoon by his housekeeper who was letting him know of his massage appt. It is a real shame. He was one hell of a hottie, and I do believe that Dark Knight will now have The Crow like fame. I still think it will be a great film. I fell in love with him in The Patriot!
Jayjay719 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I can't believe he's gone. He was an incredible actor and my prayers are with his family.
coasterman7 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Wow! I was in total disbelief when I saw this on the local news station. With the pills around him, I'm presuming that he probably committed suicide.
TheRapidsNerd Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 My mother, of all people, mentioned tonight on the phone that he'd be traveling a lot through several time zones and may have been trying to get his sleep regulated, but just had a very bad accident. We'll all know more when the autopsy is done. Poor fellow.
Broadwayboy2007 Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Is it morbid that I hope this means the Dark Knight might get an earlier release
Pufferfish Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 I am sincerely shocked by this. I couldn't believe it when i first read it. He was a great actor, my sis loved him, especially in the Patriot. It will be interesting what they will do to remember him with the new movie.
