Bolliger&Mabillard Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 I might plan a trip back to ohio in '10 especally if CP gets something worth traveling for. Wish there was a park in So Cal getting a B&M hyper.b
DiSab Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 This thing is gonna be fantastic when it's finished. I can't wait for them to erect the lift so we can see exactly how tall it's going to be up against the other rides around it. I have yet to be on a B&M hyper, but from what I've heard they're amazing. I was hoping to get to CW this past summer to ride Behemoth, but the plans fell through early on.
MixedDrink Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 This is going to be great, I love Behemoth. But I have yet to even stack it against another B&M Hypercoaster, or even any hypercoaster for that matter. Hopefully during my CP trip next year we'll be able to get to KI.
jamesdillaman Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 ^KI is about 4 hours from CP, depending on traffic and how fast you like to drive... It's doable, though. -James Dillaman
Reon Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Its about time someone updated! I've been stalking the webcam, but I obviously needed some ground pov porn. I love how Diamondback is going to tower over the midway! Also, how even the bunny hills on the return run dwarf Deathbat: the Ride! I really can't wait for next season...
DiSab Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Also, how even the bunny hills on the return run dwarf Deathbat: the Ride! Agreed. From the looks of it, mostly every hill of the ride will be taller than Darkride: The Box. The only one I'm not sure about is the hill after the second helix going into the splashdown. The first drop isn't even halfway up yet, and some shots from the parking lot already show the track above the skyline. This thing is gonna TOWER over the park next year. I can't wait to see the new skyline.
jamesdillaman Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 I overheard someone at work saying that the loop from Son of Beast was going to be used for this ride... Has anyone else heard this? I need a confirmation... -James Dillaman
DiSab Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 The loop itself, no. But the steel from the supports is being recycled for use in the MCBR supports.
yankees15 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 That hill is just screaming airtime. I cannot wait!
spaceace12 Posted October 2, 2008 Posted October 2, 2008 Looks like I am going to Kings Island a few times next year. Maybe GOCC will have thier spring fling there.
coolhandluke Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Wow. And that first pic is of one of those itty-bitty return bunny hops. Fun times to be had in Mason next year, for sure.
PKI Jizzman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 The screen shot files are too big to attatch, but the webcam shows work on one of the airtime hills, and the brake run and turn around has all the catwalks up.
KDCOASTERFAN Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I was wondering... is there any particular reason why they haven't started to build lift hill? Could be due to the massive scale of the project & they want to get as many supports up as possible, they could also always start at opposite ends of the coaster & work towards the middle to make the project go much faster. Seeing the rather steep lift gives me hope that KD's rumored 2010 project(if it comes to pass) may turn out to be a B&M since they'd need a steep lift angle to get the ride to fit in the only possible location within the park.
PKI Jizzman Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 I think they're building up the drop first so they can see how steep they need to build the lift to get it all the way up there! LOL!
matteocrepaldi Posted October 3, 2008 Posted October 3, 2008 Nice. Finally they have started to build the lift hill.
RonLaan Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 That second airtime hill looks like it is only 30m.
Wes Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 That second airtime hill looks like it is only 30m. That's not the second airtime hill.
PKI Jizzman Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Don's update! Can you say airtime? You ready for 78* drop? going uppppp Who said they wanted lift action?
Thom25 Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 ^ Great pictures - thank you for sharing. It's looking great so far.
MixedDrink Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 ^^ 78 Degrees, sounds awesome! For such a long time it was spread around that Behemoth was going to be an 85 degree drop, I was so disappointed when ten degrees got knocked out of it!
coolhandluke Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Not that it's really that huge of a difference, but the press release read The ride will stand 230 feet at its highest point with a first drop of 215 feet at a 74 degree angle . Again, I don't know how much 4 degrees will make, I was just feeling nitpicky. I love these updates. Lift is looking great. And steep. Awesome.
bgeguy Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 This thing is looking awesome! I just love how B&M has been designing these steep lifts lately, it adds to the ride.
astroworldfan1 Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I love how the track looks black, or is it waiting to be painted. Consider yourself lucky KI! -Tatum
