jray21 Posted April 5, 2014 Posted April 5, 2014 It doesn't bother me at all. If my dog was getting aggressive, I would have no problem giving her something for it. A lot of people take similar things with no problem.
Philrad71 Posted April 6, 2014 Posted April 6, 2014 ^Agreed. I got in a little confrontation with my friends fiancé about Sea World and Blackfish last night after she made a mild derogatory comment to my partner about the Sea World fleece he was wearing. I told her about our wonderful visit from a few weeks ago and lightly suggested that she do some internet research on how they care for their animals and to check out their rescue and release program. While she is still against confining animals in zoos and aquariums, at least she was open and interested in me trying to inform her a little bit about all the awesome things that the park does.
megametal Posted April 7, 2014 Posted April 7, 2014 Sea World just put out a line by line list of all the inaccuracies, outright lies, and deceptions used in Blackfish. And already you have people on there talking about how it's Sea World spin. Like Flat Earth Society people, there are some people that take pride in being stupid. Warning, it's a PDF file. 69 Lies in Blackfish
ytterbiumanalyst Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 ^ Awesome, thank you very much for posting that! I read through the whole document, and it was great to have insider information about the exact roles of each person who contributed to the film. Helps to judge their level of credibility. Again, it seems that the filmmakers chose people who would support their story regardless of whether they were competent to present any facts.
coasterbill Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 I read through all of it too, and while a lot of it was already discussed on here it was very interesting to see how completely ridiculous this film really is. In most cases the people speaking in the film were 15-20 years removed from actually working at the park when the incidents they were bringing up occurred. That's stunning.
robbalvey Posted April 9, 2014 Posted April 9, 2014 It's just shocking sometimes how people are fooled by "Hollywood." We all say "If it's on the Internet, it MUST be true" as a joke, but for film and television it's even worse. There really IS a vast majority of America that are unable to think for themselves and if they see something in a movie or a TV show, especially labeled as a "documentary" then they just assume that everything in there is 100% factually correct. I mean, those people aren't out to make money or have an agenda, right? IT'S A DOCUMENTARY!!! I just feel so bad for SeaWorld which now have to dedicate so much time to fighting this stupid crap.
Rollercoaster Rider Posted April 11, 2014 Posted April 11, 2014 I'm reading through these (Up to 31) and It's almost like the Blackfish film didn't even try to be accurate. At least (Insert documentarian here) tries to be honest. Travel Channel coaster specials (The ones without Robb) are more accurate than this film apparently. The correction list reminds me of those SNL Fox & Friends sketches where they list corrections.
jray21 Posted April 17, 2014 Posted April 17, 2014 It's really amazing how incredibly twisted the movie is. I mean, it's not even slightly true. I absolutely love how Sea World goes minute by minute and virtually destroys the film.
Moose Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 The problem is people are convinced that the movie is true and there is no swaying them. My other half being one of them. I'm sure he'd love SeaWorld but he refuses to go because of blackfish.
Cyrbuzz Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well being that attendance has been great and even setting records, it seems the movie really has failed to do any real harm to the parks.
Rollercoaster Rider Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 Well being that attendance has been great and even setting records, it seems the movie really has failed to do any real harm to the parks. I also think $50 dollar tickets has been helping attendance as well.
Cyrbuzz Posted April 18, 2014 Posted April 18, 2014 It was good to see more relevant bands sign up for Bands, Brews and BBQ. The ones that went Blackfish were has been acts who haven't made new music since Reagan was president. I think it was all a publicity grab for those has bands.

They also got stand-ups including Bill Engvall and Larry the Cable Guy.
Woodie Warrior Posted April 20, 2014 Posted April 20, 2014 Just had to listen to 10 minutes of my aunt ranting about how she watched "Blackfish" and she would never support SeaWorld. After a friend told her that SeaWorld does a lot of good as well, my aunt said "Well, Blackfish is a DOCUMENTARY."
PeoplemoverMatt Posted April 22, 2014 Posted April 22, 2014 Just had to listen to 10 minutes of my aunt ranting about how she watched "Blackfish" and she would never support SeaWorld. After a friend told her that SeaWorld does a lot of good as well, my aunt said "Well, Blackfish is a DOCUMENTARY." These days whenever I hear "documentary" I switch it for "propaganda." Learned that from Michael Moore's piles of crap. It works with Blackfish just as well.
Erik Johnson Posted April 28, 2014 Posted April 28, 2014 I had no idea that there was a media day event for the 50th. I rode the Sky Tower today. While the new 50th Anniversay wrap around the observation car looks great from the outside, it makes it very difficult to see through the windows while on the actual ride. I had a great day at the park today. Operations were really good as well as the employees that I encountered were in very high spirits. Looks great from the outside.

robbalvey Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 (edited) This morning the media was invited out to SeaWorld Orlando's Aquatica to try out the new Ihu's Breakaway Falls trap door water slide. The reaction that Adam had was HILARIOUS!!! Be sure to watch the video (especially the end) below! The ride has been soft opened for guest over the past week, but it "officially" opens tomorrow. ORLANDO, Fla. (May 9, 2014) – Ihu’s Breakaway Falls™ - the tallest, steepest and only multi-drop tower slide of its kind in Orlando – is now open at Aquatica, SeaWorld’s Waterpark™. Riders climb 126 steps to the top of the eight-story tower (nearly 80 feet), stepping into one of three colorful breakaway boxes. As the door closes, riders cross their arms and give a thumbs up in preparation for their drop -- they’ll never know when the floor beneath them will disappear! Facing each other, riders watch as their fellow riders fall. Adding to the anticipation is the sound of a heartbeat, which can be heard in the background while bracing for the drop. Once the floor disappears, riders drop 20-24 feet per second launching them into a spiraling speed slide culminating in a final splashdown. Riders who are not quite brave enough for the breakaway boxes can try the open slide. But don’t be fooled, this is not an ordinary slide; it’s the steepest of the four slides and many riders are calling it the most intense. “Ihu’s Breakaway Falls is the reason to visit Aquatica Orlando this summer,” said Bryan Nadeau, Aquatica Orlando vice president. “From the daring height, crazy drops, and intense speed, this thrilling new attraction brings a whole new level of excitement to an already amazing park that has so much for every age.” Here are some photos & video! We are here this morning at Aquatica in Orlando checking out their latest water slide for thrill seekers! First thing they did was give us awesome sunglasses! We ran into Eric from the Unofficial SeaWorld Podcast. He looks dead sexy in purple! Hanging out with Haley from Attractions Magazine. Only the cool kids wear pink! There it is! Ihu's Breakaway Falls! Three "trap door" water slides and one awesome body slide! Adam is still glowing over the fact that SeaWorld parks switched over to Coke products! If you're not up to the challenge of riding, they have this awesome green screen photo thing so you can "fake it" and still look cool to all your friends. Except Adam will never look cool to all his friends! (We love you, Adam!) (That's a lie....) Because EVERYONE goes riding water slides in shorts and a collared shirt! If you're a fan of ProSlide (which we are) you gotta love the look and feel of their slides! And yes, Ihu's Breakaway Falls is TWISTY!!! Adam is smiling now, but in just a few moments, he's about to be TERRIFIED!!! This is the moment here where you need to watch the video...especially the ending...over and over...every time he screams I still LOL! Today we are hashtagging #BreakawayBrave! The "postcard" shot of Ihu's Breakaway Falls "Adam? Are you ok???" The boring ride info stuff that everyone has to read. Ihu's Breakaway Falls.... THROUGH THE TREES! Those are the tubes that drop you out! And the one lone body slide has a pretty good drop on it! There's the landing platform. Hope you make it! More ride info... From the top of Ihu's Breakaway Falls you can get a great view of Kraken! And Manta! Are you ready to slide? Here's the purple body slide entrance.... And these trap door "capsules" also have a heart beat pulsating sound in them! This image gives Adam nightmares! TWO HUGE THUMBS UP for Ihu's Breakaway Falls! Come out to SeaWorld's Aquatica in Orlando and ride! Edited May 8, 2014 by robbalvey
cfc Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Hmm--Adam's scream would make a great sound effect for the next Star Wars movie. Breakaway Falls looks like a larger, crazier version of Vanish Point at Water Country USA.
crazydaveh Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Seeing this post is making me want to head down there now. Awesome stuff Adam! Robb, why didn't you try?
robbalvey Posted May 8, 2014 Posted May 8, 2014 Robb, why didn't you try? Someone has to film and someone had to ride! I'm actually going to ride it tonight.
hydra Posted May 9, 2014 Posted May 9, 2014 Those enclosed speed slides scare me to death. I get so claustrophobic. The trap door for sure would NOT help.
