P. 418: Camp Snoopy expansion announced including new family coaster

Recommended Posts

honestly I've rode diamondback at KI with the seat belts added on and in my opinion, if you keep the restraint a little loose, the seat belt doesn't take anything away from the ride. I think its just a safety thing so something doesn't happen like it did Down at Six Flags Over Texas.

People don't like the seatbelts because it affects capacity, not the ride experience. But I rode Diamondback this last summer and the seatbelts didn't have a major effect on efficiency. The coaster still ran 3 trains very well with minimal stacking.

Does Leviathan have seat belts? If not, it's a little weird that Fury 325 will have them. I thought Cedar Fair only added them to their v-train hyper coasters.

It was conformed that Leviathan would be getting seat belts for 2015 a few months ago.

Correct.

My two cents as well is that, like others have said, the seatbelts more affect the capacity rather than the experience. I think with the right crew and what not, it will all get ironed out.

I don't see any issues with the seatbelts on any Cedar Fair coasters since they know how to move fast with operations unlike Six Flags. I remember reading in the press materials that Robb posted that there WILL be seatbelts:

The seatbelts are calculated into capacity.

Vehicles

Trains...........Three (3) 32-passenger trains Coaches eight coaches, with four seats per coach, per train

Design......................Fiberglass and steel coaches with lapbar restraints and interlocking seat belts

I've been on both Intimidator and Diamondback with seat belts. I can safely say that I noticed no significant slow down in operations from seat belts and also couldn't even notice them while riding. This is coming from someone who's on Nitro at least once a week during the park season, which doesn't have any seat belts. My opinion is that if you say the seat belts significantly impacted your ride or slowed down the ride's operations, you already had a biased and non-objective opinion prior to riding.

I'm not too worries, leviathan is one hell of a people eater... In its opening season, I went and once the morning rush was over, it was basicly a walk on for the rest of the day! Im sure the seat belts won't ruin the ride, or the operations... This is cedar fair we are talking about, it'll be fine!

But the difference I've seen, at least at Diamondback last year, is that there is an employee who collects all the loose articles from the riders prior to the next train entering the station. The seatbelts do, IMO, slow the operations but it's so minimal you don't really notice it and that's because that ride has a great crew.

All you really need to do if you don't like the seat-belt, wear it loosely.

This violates park rules and is a potential safety issue. No thank you.

Also it would be pretty hard to do so. Those seat belts are spring loaded (or whatever mechanism is used) so it will always retract.

I have a question about the season passes...

I'm thinking about getting a platinum season pass cause I'll probably visit Cedar Point, Carowinds, and Kings dominion this year. How does the early admission stuff work? On the website it says I'll be able to get early rides on Fury 325. Does this also apply if I visit Kings Dominion and Cedar Point?

The early admission works by you pretty much going through the turnstiles with your Season Pass a 1/2 an hour early before the normal opening time. Looks like Carowinds does it ride specific, so only those 2 rides that day you'll be able to get on them a 1/2 hour early. The list of what rides will be available for early entry is right here, but looks like the page is broken and is still showing the 2014 early entry rides.

Not entirely sure about Kings Dominion's early entry as their season pass page doesn't list anything but "exclusive ride times" and early entry to the water park. Cedar Point's early entry, works the same way with Platinum pass holders as resort guests, you get to enter the park an hour early and they'll have a few coasters and rides available to ride. The list on Hotel Breakers is still for the 2014 season, but that'll probably be update in a couple months for the 2015 season. Probably expect the same rides, but more than likely Rougarou will be listed instead of one of the other coasters. https://www.cedarpoint.com/places-to-stay/hotel-breakers

At Kings Dominion they offer entry 30 minutes early entry for Platinum Passholders on certain rides. I know I305 & Volcano are two of them.

At Ceder Point they offer 1 hour early entry for Platinum Passholders on certain rides. Cedar Point had Raptor, Gatekeeper, Iron Dragon, Pipe Scream, Millennium Force, & Maverick open during early entry. And I think a few smaller rides also.

Carowinds has the same 30 early entry for Platinum Passholders minutes as Kings Dominion. I don't know their specific rides they open but I'm sure Fury 325 is going to be one of them this year.

And one last question about the early entry... If I bring a friend with me and I have a season pass, would they be able to get through? I figure that it wouldn't work with a big group, but do they allow one person?

Nope. Both of you must be Platinum season pass holders in order to get in early. They might do it on the bring-your-friend discount days, but normally only the pass holder is allowed early entry.

All persons must have a season pass (Silver, Gold or Platinum).
