IwantRevenge
thats a lot of rain. Well they didn't close every coaster right? was disaster transport still open, after all it's indoors right?
ElToroExtreme
^ Nope DT was closed because the roof leaks!!! I mean come on if your indoor coaster closes for rain there is a problem!!!
jjeerr
Does CedarFair close everything even with a light sprinkle now, or is it just for heavy rain/lightning/earthquakes? (I really want to ride a drop tower in the rain, see the drops falling with me...sounds cool)
Homer
TPR's visit to CP > Everybody elses visit. Power outages, free flashlights, crazy weather, TGI Fridays, credit fun-run. Despite numerous "set backs," I still had a blast at the Point and I would really want to relive this experience again [obvious Tivo joke]. Aha!!! Photographed PROOF that the nickname really is "MILF" And people thought I was crazy for calling it MILF.
bgwfreak
Cedar Point must be doing the SFOG rain policy now...heck even Carowinds seems to do that now. Great report Robb and Elissa. I was lucky enough in June that I had two sunny days at the park with highs around 78! OH and the belts...let's just say that it was a tight fit for me, but the ops were nice enough to buckle my belts on dragster and millie so I didn't have any problems. I even rode dragster one time with the fanny pack on and I still fit! Wes "ACEr guilty as charged" Connell

krazekiddd
Cedar Point was awesome and not for the coasters! First, being the dumba$$es walking out in the dark and seeing the entire CP skyline light up when the power came back. And the turning point for the whole trip when we started hanging out with other people! Lesson learned to socialize sooner on the trip and not later! arrowfanman
I really wanted Cedar Point to be a crappy park. All the fanboys have driven me to a point of insanity, to the point where I wanted them to be wrong. The truth is, I found the park to be very enjoyable. If I had to use one word to describe the place, it would be "impressive". Despite the blackout, despite the rain, despite the park's horrible layout (IMO), I still enjoyed myself thoroughly and was totally impressed by the staff. Damn. -Jahan
BarryH
Great photos! It looks like Cedar Point is pulling a Knott's. When a drop of rain falls from the sky, they shut down the rides. I hope CP doesn't shut down the whole park when it sprinkles. I remember a few years ago I rode Mantis in the pouring rain and MF during a light sprinkle. Those were the days... SharkTums
^Exactly! I heard that the reason they went to the "Knotts Rainy Weather Management Close Everything System" was due to the accident on Magnum? Can anyone confirm this? Anyone know the real reason? It's such a joke. The majority of those coasters can run in hard rain, no problem, and have for many years prior!
nesdude
From what I've read on other websites, the Magnum accident is indeed the reason they're so finicky with rain this year. Usually it takes a downpour to shut down most rides, but ever since the accident, not only do they shut down the rides, but after they get back up some of the rides are trim-heavy. Hopefully this won't be the case next year, because even a minor shower can be a setback when they need to shut everything down then test everything again. -nesdude
IwantRevenge
well i can understand closing the rides for a downpour like you had becuase TTD + Hard rain = Pain, but a light drizzle thats a problem!
PKI Jizzman
Nice report! Do you think that Maverick is the best ride in the park?
robbalvey
Nice report! Robb/Elisa, what's your opinion on Maverick? ^ Did you read the update or are you just asking random questions to hear yourself talk? And who the F**k is this Elisa person and why would you care about her stupid opinion? --Robb "Your post almost got deleted if it wasnt' for the fact I had more fun ripping on it." PKI Jizzman
Yeah, I read the update and what you said in the pictures about Maverick. I was just looking for a play by play review, as I have seen you do before. Oops.
terrancew_hod
^Considering Robb and Elissa are still on "running mode", it's probably a good idea just to take what was given and run with it. Anyway, day one at Cedar point was actually a good day to catch up on some much needed rest and wind down. Our group did several attempts at the park, but it wasn't until about 6pm we really made any progress. But we still really weren't rushed to do anything. Of course day too was a lot better ride wise! TheRealTinkerbell
It was like a dam...a dam of large men in a raft. I was just laughing from picturing this scene in my head. and the lifeguard running out of the way. The poor lifeguard probably had his life flash before his life. So, just a quick(and probably dumb question). I know that the sign said Mt.Olympus WATER and Themepark. Does that mean that(this is what I was talking about being the stupid part) the themepark and the water park are togeher. I mean like, is it like Magic Mountain, how it has a single entrance for the park, and a single entrance for Hurricane Harbor?
Homer
^They are all one major park. The water park is on one side, the theme park on the other.

Damn. -Jahan Haha I know how you feel. I went to Cedar Point in June and I honestly thought the staff was even better than Holiday World's. It seemed like everyone enjoyed their jobs and everyone was extremely nice. The Mean Streak crew was awesome when I went. Cedar Point really surprised me. Chris Benvenuto
Well, looks like you had fun R&E with the half-day on thursday with no rain! TheRealTinkerbell
^They are all one major park. The water park is on one side, the theme park on the other. AWESOME! Too bad parks like this wouldn't last a week in California! Sucks about the rain though. I went to Worlds of Fun last week and they shut down most of the rides due to the rain, which kind of sucked, but then again I would hate for those raindrops to be punching me in the face like they always do on the good rides. Thanks for the updates!!
