stingrock23
The ERT was great, we were able to get everything in. And the Q-Bot saved us, otherwise we would have had to wait 3 hours for Superman. And our tattoos made the update, woohoo! I knew those would come in handy for something.
terrancew_hod
^^^Man, you're making me old! But the wiki is saying those changes happened in the 80s. I didn't ride it until the middle 90's. That when I think it had a little tunnel and after the tunnel was the hard brakes. And when I went on the trip the tunnel and the sign is no longer there. mcjaco
No tunnel on the Whizzer, Terrance. Ever. You must be combining coasters. I don't even remember five trains. And I'm old enough for that time period.
terrancew_hod
No tunnel on the Whizzer, Terrance. Ever. You must be combining coasters. I don't even remember five trains. And I'm old enough for that time period. No I'm not combining them. I remember because: 1) the whizzer is the only ride I've been on with a guy I dated. 2) At the time the only amusement parks I've been to were Six Flags over mid america (St Louis), Silver Dollar City, Kentucky Kingdom and Great America. So the only whizzer in those parks would be... So if it wasn't a tunnel (too many trees?) it was covered by something because when we came out after seeing the sign the coaster broke hard. And the guy I was dating cursed in spanish. If nothing else I have a good memory, people are surprised at things I remember from years ago. Makes a good weapon when the kids act crazy and you gotta put them in their place. Terry
DarkMeasures
Nope. Never a tunnel. Never a break hard. The only changes are the ones mentioned in the wikipedia article and last time I saw my Dad, he confirmed it. According to him, they would actually have 2 trains going up the lift hill at the same time. Now the Demon of course is the only Great America rollercoaster to really suffer (or not.) from physical change. That ride had the 2 hills before they were replaced with the two loops and tunnel. (the only tunnel in the park until Raging Bull was built.) The only other coaster I can think of is Rolling Thunder which did have really hard breaks as it was a bobsled coaster. But it didn't have tunnels.
terrancew_hod
^Ok wrong boyfriend. Actually not a boyfriend... Had to do mental inventory because it been so long between them... It was the Zambezi Zinger at worlds of fun. They tore it down during the 90s Happy now? Geeks. Terry
Goliath513
Wait I'm confused. I thought the MidWest trip ended last week, but the update says you were just there yesterday. Care to straighten this out for me?

youthink?
I love Six Flags Great America, it is definitely a great park with some fantastic coasters. It was extremely crowded on the day I went as well, and I didn't have that Q-bot like you guys so I didn't get to go on all of the coasters I wanted . Oh well great pics and can't wait for the Cedar Point update! Viper surprised me as well, fantastic woodie with amazing airtime.
gotdane
Yay for Great America! "Cure for the common Six Flags!" It needs that tagline... I was amazed by Viper! It was SO much fun! Giant Drop was kickass! Raging Bull...well, I guess it was just Raging Bull. This was definitely one of the top ERT sessions of the trip! Sadly, I was one of the few who missed Whizzer do to the storm. They were clearing the line as we walked up. Oh well! We got everything else thanks to QBot! Zen Coaster
I think it was as if they were telling a story, so it would all be in sequence. Nup, it's not over... we're still on it. We all can't wait for Cedar Point...to most that's a major part why they came on the trip. Maverick should be amazing, I just hope it's up to the hype. - Tony "Denial Transport" Teulan
Guest
You guys went right when the Read To Succeed tickets were expiring. Basically kids read a certain amount of time and get free tickets to the park and then all go the same week when they realize its expiring, its always the busiest week of the summer. Also im sad I was at CP the day you were here, definitley wouldve done some Giant Drop ERT staple action . Also, you can thank Zamperla for the "3 adult max" rule on Ragin Cajun....worst rule ever. And all the poor GP had to wait in line for 3 hours just to get to Superman's STATION! Full queues spilling onto the midway is not 3 hours, its 1 1/2-2. gmoney422
I'd say Whizzer was the best coaster at the park. If not one of the better steel coasters on the entire trip! I second that!!! KrakenKing
Wow. That picture of Terrence and I, wtf. Haha! Can't wait to see the video! That park was pretty fun, it had some decent coasters. I'm just worried all of them are going to turn to crap like Iron Wolf and Raging Bull. Extremely busy day in the park. The line for Superman (As mentioned) was through all the switchbacks and pouring out into the midway. It was insane! But a walk-on for us Hurray doggie-style position! Whizzer was definitely the best coaster at the park, I'm glad they got rid of Shockwave instead of Whizzer to make room for Superman. - Michael "Terry's personal statue for the day" Redig
Erik Johnson
Ok, I am sure everyone has been waiting for this one. TPR Loves Deja Vu: The Video. I already had the credit, so I thought it would be fun to shoot video of everyone exiting the ride. Enjoy! Dejavutprinternet.wmv TPR Loves Deja Vu. terrancew_hod
When I said "I feel better now" I wasn't referring to the ride. I had to tell someone off in line about flaking on us after promising us he would be our fourth person for the q-bot. Still not cool and I still don't want to hear the apolo-lie (means an apology but you aren't really sorry). He had us standing in front of Elissa (holding our q-bot) looking stupid. What an a$$! You don't decide to go with someone else at that point! I was fuming! But my day wasn't actually better until we hopped on the bus to the next park. I needed that beer I found! Anyway, my favorite part of the day that didn't make the cameras was when this girl with big boobs wearing a skimpy tank top was running and we all stopped to see the "train wreck" as they went: Boing Boing PLOP! Yep. Both of them came out right in front of us. She was trying to cover them and put them back in! I yelled "GIRL! PUT YOUR T#TTIES BACK IN!" Talk about dressing inappropriately for the park! I saw her later and just smiled at her. She scurried off somewhere quickly. Terry
gnewton34
That was the scariest ride ever besides Garfield's Nightmare. I didn't like the sensation of sliding halfway out of my seat when it braked on the lift at the end.

terrancew_hod
^Hmmm. They say a hit dog will bark the loudest. Back to topic, poor Casey. CaseyFish
Actually Terrance, Carl and I were more worried about our feet then anything...lol. They had this patio looking thing built under one of the loops and as we watched the train come through, Carl and I just looked at how close peoples feet were coming to that thing, looked at eachother, and said, "ummm NO WAY!" It was just to close of a clearance, and I wanted to keep my feet. The height restriction was there for a reason, so I didn't want to take any chances.
