monsterfan99 Posted July 21, 2009 Posted July 21, 2009 A couple pop into my head Millennium Force - The view going up the lift is cool and the first drop is fun. After that, the ride was just boring. Not a bad ride, but not great either. Raging Bull - The first drop is amazing. The trims just kill it and it is getting rough this season. Racer at Kings Island - I have no idea where any ACE love from this comes. I found the red side to be a little rough and the blue side to just hurt. The did absolutely nothing for me other then look nice.
MagicMountainMan Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 I just rode the Raven today and I thought it was a joke. Why would anyone really rate it highly? It was a really short coaster with a few turns and no airtime and generally wasn't that enjoyable. CCI strikes again...
metrock Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Hades and Mt Olympus in general. I was really looking forward to going. Place was nasty, coasters were really rough.
deathmatter56 Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Definetely kingda ka and top thrill dragster.... the launch is pretty neat but otherwise it sucks, you cant feel the drop on either of them. maybe if you could feel the drop, they would be better.
Real Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 Definetely kingda ka and top thrill dragster.... the launch is pretty neat but otherwise it sucks, you cant feel the drop on either of them. maybe if you could feel the drop, they would be better. Im pretty sure Ive never had a ride on Dragster in well over 100 in which I didnt feel the drop. Kinda hard when youre looking from the front seat or being ripped over the top in the back seat. It was a really short coaster with a few turns and no airtime and generally wasn't that enjoyable. Well...the front has airtime on every drop or pull up except the first drop and the main drop. The back has airtime on every hill except a few pull ups. Im pretty sure if you were expecting El Toro airtime you would think this way. But Ive never had a ride where it was airtimeless. Its impossible strictly speaking from a numbers point of view. The trains carry too much speed over several of the little hills. Millennium Force - The view going up the lift is cool and the first drop is fun. Correct, correct and correct.
WFChris Posted July 22, 2009 Posted July 22, 2009 The entire Kings Island park was kind of a letdown for me. I wanted to cry after getting off The Beast because I expected so much more. I had been wanting to ride it since I was tiny, and finally got the chance last year. I even rode it again at night for good measure. I guess I just don't get it. Chris.
spaceace12 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I imagine the Beast of 10-20 years ago was different, but with all the trims on the ride, it kills airtime and anything enjoyable.

I've been waiting to hear that from someone else. I definitely agree. Beast is a decent ride.

We got lucky and our first ride was at night during the rain. So it was basically completely dark and flying around the track. The next morning, we rode it during ERT and it was good but nothing amazing. Seems to only be great at certain times. Had it not been for Diamondback and Flight of Fear, I would agree with you on the whole park being a letdown coaster wise.
coolcalicoaster Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I would have to go with X2. The effects don't add much for me and neither does the new trains. It is still a good ride, but doesn't live up to the hype. Another one is Kingda Ka. I would much prefer Top Thrill Dragster. Other overrated coasters in my opinion: -Goliath @MM -Hulk@IOA -Sheikra and Griffon -Batman Clones [/u]
atem122 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 ^I don't think Goliath at SFMM is really rated too highly, it has its fanboys *cough* creditcrazy *cough* but most people think it's pretty lame...except for the death helix!!!!
christianscoasters Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Riddler's Revenge Goliath (SFMM) The opposites (ones that are underrated) I would have to say is Colossus and S:TE both at SFMM.
kingsdominionlvr Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Griffon is an obvious one, with only two drops and two inversions. The first 90* drop was the only thing I found thrilling about Griffon.
deathmatter56 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 ^yeah... i had a great time on griffon. But there is a little too much hype.
coasterfreaksrttd Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 You guys are crazy. MF is not at all overrated. It has an amazing amount of momentum even after so many drops and overbanked turns. This ride maintains an insane speed throughout the coaster. For a coaster it's size, it is also INSANELY smooth. I think intamin really got it right with this one. And it was made in 2000, which makes it completely ahead of it's time. It's amazingly original, and still delivers after nine years of service. Also, if you haven't ridden it in the front, you might as well have not ridden it at all. There are continuous pops of airtime when you least expect them, mouth drying speed, and an incredible view. It skims the ground, whips around trees and whizzes through tunnels. Surprisingly, even the last little bunny hop delivers. The ejector seat really finished up the main portion of the ride, and the G forces and that last turn are the big finale. Plus, this coaster should make ANYONE sentimental of cedar point. How could you be disappointed? This coaster needs just as much appreciation as some newer coasters like Maverick.
metrock Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 The opposites (ones that are underrated) I would have to say is Colossus... Yeah, Colossus isn't too bad compared to other wooden coasters from the 70's
Bolliger&Mabillard Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 ^I don't think Goliath at SFMM is really rated too highly... Well let me be the first to discredit what little hype it does get by saying its lame. "It's lame".
coolcalicoaster Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Riddler's RevengeGoliath (SFMM) The opposites (ones that are underrated) I would have to say is Colossus and S:TE both at SFMM. To me Riddlers Revenge is a great coaster. It blew away all my expectations. I have never heard it ranked to highly but it is one of my favorites at the Mountain.
Coaster Cow Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Personally, I don't see why everyone is hating on Incredible Hulk. I actually liked the second half more than the first because it was intense anddifferent from the standard interlocking corkscrew stuff. On a completely different note, I would have to say Griffon and Superman the Ride at SFMM were really overhyped. Griffon was just Sheikra in a different theme and Superman was just a freefall.
CHILLERLC1 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 I found the SFGADV VIPER was overrated. It's long gone now. I love the Riddler's Revenge. I'm just not too crazy for the second half. I love the Incredible Hulk coaster.
redfoot12 Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Whatever the coaster ends up being at KD for next year.
KrakenKing Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Millennium Force was kind of that way. After watching all those shows on the Travel Channel and reading a lot about it, I couldn't WAIT to ride. The first drop and view were the only redeeming qualities about the ride.
CorkscrewFoley Posted July 23, 2009 Posted July 23, 2009 Whatever the coaster ends up being at KD for next year. That'san unfair assessment, dude. It might have a vertical climb and drop...
kingsdominionlvr Posted July 24, 2009 Posted July 24, 2009 Whatever the coaster ends up being at KD for next year. How can you say that when we have almost no idea what this coaster will look like?
