FeelTheFORCE
^ That probably wouldn't work. It's a lot easier said than done. Coasters, especially Batman: The Ride clones, have dimensions (loops, turns, zero-G rolls, corkscrews, brake runs, etc.) specifically designed for the speed and height they are currently set at. You can't just lengthen a lift hill and leave everything else as is. The entire coaster would have to be reworked and modified, which would be the same as just building a new coaster and scrapping the old. Also, from what I remember from my trip to GAdv back in June, there really isn't any room for Batman to be expanded. The whole point of those coasters (B:TR clones) is, at least what I think, to save space, yet have a solid coaster that still packs a punch, despite it's small size and footprint. Expanding on that, adding a new lift hill and layout before the old would defeat that purpose, in my opinion. I don't think Kingda Ka will ever be expanded on either, it would be too expensive and not worth the effort, especially in today's economy. I see what you are saying, and it would be really cool if they did this, but the skyrocketing price of steel, and today's economy is causing Six Flags to think of alternatives to building new coasters year after year. KDCOASTERFAN
^^No,it's just SFI's excuse to say "we're broke & can't add any new rides so we'll just retheme/rename an existing ride & pass it off as new" when they could easily put in a less expensive ride instead. itnotfair
I think it's cool when existing coasters are upgraded and cosmetically altered. X2 looks way more diabolical than the old "Lakers Coaster" it once was, and the fire effects are insane. I just wish they would do the same with Scream. In fact, I find it confusing that Medusa, amidst her theming and shrubbery, is getting a face lift when Scream is still illegally parked in the Tweety section setting car alarms off with its paint job. Rct3man777
^Yeah, they really should've painted scream a different color... I mean, yellow blue and purple? I think something more like blue track and white supports suits it more.
Bolliger&Mabillard
Scream's paint job works well IMO because all of those colors work so well together...it doesn't help that the colors faded after the first season however. So I hear Knott's is getting rid of Peanust Playhouse, Log peeler, and possibly Huff n' Puff to make way for a Vekoma Junior SLC some time in Ought 9. itnotfair
^I heard about the Jr. SLC, but I saw something on Screamscape.com saying they were gonna scrap it for a larger attraction. First, the Vekoma rumor in September: the new Camp Snoopy ride may actually be a Vekoma inverted family coaster Then, the update in October: sources tell us that the plans to add a small attraction at Knott’s in 2009 have been scrapped. The good news is that the money will go towards funding a major new attraction in 2010 I'm waiting to hear more. As to Scream's paint job, I must admit that I agree. Scream's color scheme is kind of cool. I remember the first time I saw those interlocking corkscrews and thinking it looked awesome with the tritone paint. It's still in dire need of theming (you can literally see parking spaces directly under it!), and a recoat wouldn't hurt either.
bombritual
From Screamscape: "Speculation - (11/10/08) A reader tells us that the latest edition of Ace News mentions that Cedar Point, “still hasn’t made it official, but expect an epic flume ride from Intamin which will surely boast world records of some kind.” While I haven’t heard a peep myself lately and the Intamin connection is almost surprising since Knott’s is said to be considering removing Perilous Plunge (Intamin), this does make sense. Back in late 2005 when White Water Landing was removed the park did mention that they were looking into some new flume ride designs for a future project." I'll believe it when I see it. Youd have to think youd have seen something by now.
matteocrepaldi
Rumors from Italy are that Gardaland is planning on a full restyle of the oldest dark ride in the park: La Valle Dei Re. They might decide to add some interactive effects too. Confirming the rumors there's the fact that during the last couple of weekends of the season the ride remained closed. Vid_w
Hmm, when I saw it closed i thought it was going to be turned into some kind of special halloween attraction or something.... The ride kinda neede some TLC tho.... Also from Gardaland, they are going to retheme Magic Mountain to a sasquatch theme... I think that was also officially annouced, becouse I remember some pics... Also, i heard they were getting new cars for Blue Tornado... It would certainly use some new ones...
Airtime&Gravity
Here is something interesting that I found on RCDB about Little Amerricka wanting to build a replica of the Lincoln Park Comet. Little Amerricka in Marshall, WI purchased the Comet's trains and intends to one day build a copy of the Comet using the original trains after refurbishing them. The Comet's structure itself is too far deteriorated to be salvaged. This will be a very large project for Little Amerricka and there is no timetable for this project at this time . Vffreak07
I heard High Roller is getting removed at Valleyfair in 2012.
Mechanic
Has anyone heard anything more about the 200 foot tall S&S El Loco coaster possibly coming to the west coast as mentioned by the S&S rep at WCB earlier this year? There was a little chatter about it at the time, but nothing since as far I'm aware. This was recently discussed briefly in the SFMM update thread and I've moved the discussion here at Elissa's suggestion.
The Alex
Blue Bayou/Dixie Landin' of Baton Rouge, LA is expanding. They're adding a whole new area, including a new coaster. Rumor has it that Jester or MegaZeph from SFNO are contenders for the new addition. When SFI was ripping the drop towers out of the park a month or so ago, a SFNOforum-goer noticed that a small part of Zephy's track was missing. Not ripped out, but possibly carefully removed. Why? It's not like either coaster is worth a buttload of cash. They've been sitting in the same spot for three years straight. Without upkeep. It'd be expensive to rehab, but cheap to purchase and transport since both coasters are from SFNO, which is defunct. There's a little more than 80 miles between the two cities. It'd be cool......Zephy seems to big. And they already have a Vekoma.
Bolliger&Mabillard
Well...it was rumored that SFMM would be working with S&S for two more attractions in the near future. As read in the Knott's thread, it is speculated that Log Peeler is on it's way out with a relocation of the ferris wheel. With Playhouse gone that frees up just enough space for-you guessed it, another 30 second coaster!
holyblakbelt
I've heard that Cedar Fair might keep the Scooby Doo branding starting with Michigan's Adventure and Valleyfair. This better be true. I can see them rethemeing Kidworks because it just seems like a typical CF idea to me.
Thelegendarymatthew
I'm gonna bet you that Cedar Point's next coaster is gonna be the planned GCI from CGA. Hey, if they moved XLC to KD, then theres a chance that they'll move another planned ride to the east -Matthew.K
Bolliger&Mabillard
^If they already paid for it, they gotta put it somewhere.
itnotfair
Has anyone heard anything more about the 200 foot tall S&S El Loco coaster possibly coming to the west coast as mentioned by the S&S rep at WCB earlier this year? With Playhouse gone that frees up just enough space for-you guessed it, another 30 second coaster! The news from Shapiro is that we'll be seeing another new coaster at SFMM in 2010. I'm making a humble prediction: that either the 2010 SFMM coaster, or the 2010 Knott's project will be the West Coast El Loco model we've been hearing about! And the other one will be a Chinese B&M Dive Machine knock-off!
Bolliger&Mabillard
I see Knott's getting the El Loco, and MM getting the Dive, based on space in each park.

packfanlv
I can't wait to ride that Chinese knock off Dive Machine. After riding the Chinese SLC ripoff and fearing for my life, I can't wait to see what a vertical dive would be like. I'm sure the wheels won't stay on the track though! kitkat12
I know what carowinds is getting in 2009 but I have heard rumers about a log ride leaving at the end of next year...... could this mean a big addition
