P. 2037: Siren’s Curse tilt coaster announced for 2025!

You can buy beer at any store & liquor at a liquor store in Ohio just like in NY. Although in Ohio, you can also buy wine and low % alcohol in stores.

Sooooo glad to hear this! I'll be moving to Ohio soon and that was something I hated when I visited Pennsylvania recently. No reason not to sell good wine in the grocery store!

What are the chances of any rides shutting down in 14 mph winds with 26 mph gusts? The forecast for the day I'm going keeps changing, but its looking pretty good besides maybe wind.

It'll be hit or miss in the morning, but as the day warms up you should be fine for most rides besides Dragster. Yesterday the forecast called for 15-20MPH winds and all the rides were operational (besides Maverick) by mid-afternoon (including even Dragster) despite the unusually cold temps.

Made the mistake to come on physics week or whatever. Completely over looked the dates. Pretty packed. Thought we were out smarting the crowds by coming on a Monday while schools are supposed to be in lol

On the plus side, they'll leave by 4-5pm. Gives you a good couple hours with an empty park!

I was extremely surprised to see them have nearly everything open yesterday. They even ran Millennium Force when it was raining/hailing and Valravn seemed to stay open during the on and off rain later in the morning. I wonder if it was so cold they needed to keep the rides running so they wouldn't need the water dummies put back on the trains.

A quick question about the renewal of the platinum season pass. If you renewed the pass online and uploaded a picture does the pass automatically work when you get to the park? I bought the pass at Carowinds last year and renewed from Cedar Point website this year. Not sure if that matters? I will be headed to Cedar Point this Wednesday and wanted to drive around to the resort entrance. I didn't want to have to go to the season pass processing center if I didn't need to.

You should be fine. Never had a problem with the Platinum Passes for CF

I just landed home from my trip to Cedar Point this weekend! I was there Friday-Sunday. Even though the wind and cold put a damper on the park, it didn't stop our fun!

Valravn is a winner in my book. We jumped off the plane Friday morning from Cleveland and got to the park at 8:30 and got right in line at 9 to give it a run, it's a FANTASTIC ride and air time experience! Friday was obviously the good weather day and everything ran well and the employees were really on it. This is what I love about Cedar Fair parks and Cedar Point is the ride ops and customer service is always top notch...at least when I'm there.

Saturday and Sunday were more of a challenge obviously, but we eventually did hit everything as it opened up on both days; so it wasn't a total loss for other people as well which was great to see. I kept meeting people in line from Florida, from Virginia, me from Texas of course and they all were there for Valravn and Millennium Force and it was nice to see that out of town folks weren't disappointed! They got their rides eventually!

Sunday I had to work hard for what a lot of people want. That weird rain/hail storm that blew through, I was in line for Top Thrill Dragster as they were running test train after test train to see how it was holding up with the wind. I suffered the beating and didn't get out of line and was rewarded with a roll back! It was roll back city on Sunday. 3 trains in a row rolled back and I was on the 3rd one before they gave up for a few hours; so all in all, it was a very successful trip and it can be done even in bad ride conditions! I'll be back in 3 weeks for Coastermania!

I live in Sarasota and I went to Siesta Key today and noticed they opened new private pergolas, and it gave me an idea for Cedar Point. There's 1,200 feet (according to Google Earth) of unused beach property with lots of potential being neglected right now, stretching from Gatekeeper to Kinzel's home. What if Cedar Point were to add these premium pergolas/picnic shelters for families. Each can have a grill, fridge/freezer, picnic table, and a hammock. They can be designed to accommodate 4-16 people for different sized or multiple families or even group outings. They can be rented out like cabanas; families get premium parking in front of their pergola, drop their things off in the morning (fridge/freezer come in handy) and come back whenever they want to grill, eat, and relax on the beach. In the center can be a small marketplace with bathrooms, free propane, a Coke freestyle machine, and sell condiments, buns, burger meat, chicken, hot dogs, sausage, etc. if families come unprepared. At 1,200 feet of stretch, you can place 60 of these units if they're spaced every 20 feet or so. Cabanas at Soak City go for $100 a day, but I bet these can go for $200 to $300 (if not more) if they offer a 'premium' setting with high end grills and 'free' cleaning/accommodation/etc. $300 x 60 units x about 120 operating days = 2.16 million in extra revenue (I know that's not profit) the park is not currently making.

Here's a rough drawing I did to kind of give you an idea. A sidewalk cutting across the parking lot will connect the main entrance to the central market place. The gray strip of 'paint' is the premium parking I was talking about. The green is the patch of grass where all the pergolas will be scattered across.

I know Cedar Point has many plans to be worried about, and probably plans including this area, but is there any way for us 'normal' folks can get our ideas to them? Because I'd love it if they even heard me on this.

Here's what I was thinking for the grill/fridge combo:

Perhaps something like this might work on the ocean, but due to algae blooms & high bacteria levels in recent years on Lake Erie (especially at this end of the lake), I wouldn't envision this happening anytime soon. Cool idea and concept though!

Besides, even when I was younger and the lake was cleaner, I would rarely see people on the beach. They are there to ride rides, so the sandy beach is more of an aesthetic for the park (and Hotel Breakers) than anything else.

Back in the day, the beach was the place to be because the park wasn't as fully developed and didn't have as many attractions. There were limited rides, so a lot of people went for the sandy beach as well as the water rides (swings and slides) until the park size continued to grow and they added more attractions. Once that happened (and the water rides were removed), the beach got less and less popular. I think the park wanted more people in there spending money and not at the beach for most of the day.

Same

We are heading to CP on Wednesday staying until saturday, and we expect very low lines, due to how early it is in the season and how it is the weekday during a non-summer week. Even if the physics program is busy, schools will be leaving from 2-4 PM and then we have like 4 hours to ride after.

So the schools are there until 6. We asked a couple of the groups as well as guest relations. Don't expect short lines at all.

I'm sure the last two hours were better but we took off around 6 since we had a long drive home. We did end up buying fast lane plus since they were down to $80 from $105. We just wanted to have fun and not worry about lines.

Just prepare yourself for a busy day. We even got there for early entry and only one ride was up lol, so it was like our one chance to have short lines didn't work out. At 9:30 the line for Valravn was into the midway and broken down lol.

I'll be at the park Thursday, and I was a little worried that the Physics week crowds might spoil the otherwise prime time for riding. Hopefully, most schools got it out of their system Monday! I've noticed Mondays usually are busier than Tuesday through Wednesday anyway, so here's hoping we get some of those trademark mid-week May CP crowds!

If you are doing an over night trip, do early entry, hit the major rides. leave the park around 11:30-12 right when all schools will be getting there and go to lunch/rest up in your room. Then right around 4:30-5 go back into the park until close, lines will be small and little wait. I did this last year from monday-wednesday and it worked perfect!!!!

I'm a long-time CP vet, and have a pass, so I'm not overly concerned about it... I plan most of my trips for early in the season, and late, to avoid the Summer crowds, but it is what it is. I just really want to get a few more rides in on Valravn, since I've only ridden it once so far, but don't feel it's worth waiting in a line longer than about 45 minutes for. So, my hope is for shorter lines for it during this week and next (when I'll be returning with a different group of friends on Tuesday.) If they're not though, hey, it just means lines for other rides in the park are shorter, which is fine by me too!

This was the situation yesterday, and it kept TTD from opening the entire day. Same with Windseeker and the Sky Ride. Other than that, all other coasters were up and running for the majority of the day excluding Mean Streak and the blue side of Gemini. There was also some unexplained downtime on Maverick, but they did their best to get it up and running ASAP every time, as opposed to TTD where we just didn't even see any test cars go in the afternoon at all.

They don't run both sides of Gemeni on weekdays outside of the summer season. It's a shame but that's just how they do things. It always seems to run 2 on weekends and in the summer when they have more staffing.

And yeah CK124 those wind speeds should be fine. I expect Sky Ride and Windseeker to be closed but maybe not all day. Other rides should run but it's pushing it a tiny but for Dragster and Raptor. Still though unless that's the forecast for the entire day even a brief closure isn't a big deal. They'll probably run at some point.
