  1. Also, Superman at SFA has quite a sudden stop, especially in the back car. Come flying over the airtime hill, and you're at a complete stop as soon as you level out.
  2. Montezooma's Revenge has quite a rough stop, but of course that is expected with it having to stop in such a short distance. Xcelerator also decelerates pretty quickly, but it isn't really uncomfortable. Full Throttle also has a quick stop, but coming off that drop and slamming into the brakes is my favorite part of the ride!
  3. There goes another one. It's unfortunate since top spins are fun rides, but with all the expansion this park has planned, I'm sure it won't be missed much.
  4. Awesome! Can't wait to see some test runs of this thing. It looks...strange...but in a good way!
  5. Knott's Boomerang could end up at Michigan's Adventure as well (if Knott's removes it) As much as I want Knott's to remove Boomerang, if they do, I imagine they will scrap the ride. It's going on 27 years old, and Matt Ouimet has stated that he is not a fan of relocating rides (especially ones as old as this one). It's possible, but relocating a Boomerang is much more of a "Six Flags move."
  6. Silver Bullet last night at Knott's. Girlfriend was crazy scared but ended up loving it.
  7. Never have and never plan to. When was the last time you rode a B&M Invert at a Cedar Fair park?
  8. Banshee @ Kings Island.
  9. Star flyers! The sense of freedom is much better than the Windseekers. Intimidator 305 or Fury 325?
  10. I've never been much of a Disney person, mostly because I prefer huge awesome roller coasters over "magical experiences," but WOW. This park is high on my bucket list for sure! The most attractive part to me is that there are far fewer annoying, entitled people there!
  11. To be honest, my expectations for what's in the shed are pretty low. I expect some screens and possibly some props that "wrap up" the story line, and that's about it. I'd sure love to be wrong, though.
  12. Out of the 4 Floorless Coasters I've ridden (Bizarro, Batman the Dark Knight, Hydra, and Scream), Bizarro is my favorite. It was super smooth, forceful, and overall a solid ride. Even though it's the same as Scream, I found it much more enjoyable. There's a very high chance I will be riding both Dominator and Patriot this spring/summer, and possibly even Rougarou as well if things line up. Haven't been on any Dive Coasters, so I can't comment on those.
  13. I hung on for dear life on the New England Sky Screamer, but it was still a ton of fun. Basically any star flyer messes with me a little, even the big bulky Windseekers. S&S Screamin' Swings are also up there, mostly because of those tiny little lap bars that hardly hold you in!
  14. Just the other day, I was wondering what ever happened to this park and the Vekoma pretzel coaster. Nice find. Thanks for sharing, as always!
  15. I'm assuming when they say "Opening Day" they don't only mean the park but Patriot as well? If so, that's great news. I was thinking about heading up to the park over Spring Break and would love to catch it on opening day.
  16. I recommend the second half of April through the first half of May on weekdays. Any weekday the Park's hours are 10:30-6 is a great day. This. I wouldn't go anywhere near SFMM during Spring Break. I did that once, completely regret it, and will never do it again.
  17. You could probably get away without a FastLane, but it makes your day far more enjoyable, so I highly recommend it. GhostRider and Xcelerator will likely have the longest lines. Silver Bullet is usually manageable if both trains are running.
  18. Thank you so much for posting this and for keeping track of all these international additions. It's a great little summary and it caught me up a lot. Keep doing what you're doing... it makes learning about all this stuff coming to Asia much easier to understand.
  19. 1. What is the name of your home park? Knott's Berry Farm, but also SFMM and pretty much everything else in SoCal 2. Do you own a coaster related T-shirt? When I was younger, but not so much now. 3. Do you enjoy Vekoma SLCs? Absolutely not. 4. Name the first 3 coasters that come to mind. Skyrush, Kingda Ka, and El Toro. 5. One park you would definitely never go back to is... I wouldn't say I'd NEVER go back, but I really disliked SFA. 6. Have you ever ridden a drop tower taller than 200 feet? Several. 7. What is your favorite roller coaster? Skyrush. 8. When you go to a park three things you must have with you are... Phone, wallet, and refillable cup. I guess keys, too, once I'm older and start going to parks alone. 9. How many times did you visit your home park last season? I only visited Knott's three times in 2016, but I went to SFMM around 4 or 5 times. 10. The first Intamin coaster you rode is... Xcelerator. 11. Have you ever spent an entire day at a park alone? Not an entire day, but I spent around 4 or 5 hours at Dorney Park alone as a quick pit stop on my way from Hershey to SFNE last summer. 12. The independent park you go to the most is... There are very few independent parks in SoCal, so I guess Lagoon? 13. Does B&M or Intamin make better hyper coasters? B&M makes far superior trains, but Intamin makes far superior rides. It's a toss-up since I love Nitro almost as equally as Skyrush. 14. If it was free, what upcharge ride what you jump on right now? The SlingShot at SFMM. 15. What is the best food at your home park? Boysenberry meatballs during the Boysenberry Festival. OMG. 16. The name of the worst GCI you've ridden is... Wildcat, Wildcat, WILDCAT. 17. When you're not riding something at your home park where are you? Going to school, doing stuff for band/marching band, other typical high school responsibilities. 18. Favorite water ride in a dry park (flume, rapids, etc) Timber Mountain Log Ride, no question. 19. Do you get your photo taken with park mascots? Almost never. In fact, never. 20. Name one personal item you've lost at a park. Never have. 21. Name of the worst B&M invert you're ridden is... They're all good IMO. Even Silver Bullet. 22. Name your favorite steel coaster under 125 feet tall. Maverick, without a doubt. Although Wicked Cyclone is an honorable mention. 23. Name your favorite coaster/ride manufacturer? Intamin. I'd say RMC, but I haven't ridden very many. 24. What waterpark have you visited most often? Knott's Soak City, but very rarely. I'm sure I will visit more this summer though with all the new stuff coming. 25. The name of the fastest wooden coaster you have ridden is... El Toro. 26. What is the name of the flat ride you've ridden the most? Supreme Scream at Knott's. 27. Name a ride-related injury you have suffered. Unless you count a bad sunburn from getting stuck behind the station on Xcelerator, nothing. 28. Favorite Halloween event at a park? Haunts aren't really my thing. I've never been to one, not even Scary Farm. 29. Name the most recent Arrow ride or coaster you've been on... Ninja at SFMM last week. 30. Name of your favorite ride that never leaves the ground (safari, train, bumper cars, etc) Safari Off-Road Adventure at SFGAdv. 31. What ride makes you laugh the most? Nitro. I just threw my arms and legs up and had a great time. 32. How many RMC's have you ridden? Two. Twisted Colossus and Wicked Cyclone. 33. Best flat that goes over 100 feet is... If you count drop towers, then Drop Tower at KI. If not, MaXair/Delirium. 34. When you are on your way to your home park what is one worry that you might have? Not much at all. I guess long lines, but it's my home park, so there really isn't any loss. 35. Favorite park that is NOT your home park is ___________. Hersheypark! Intamin trio, great B&M, dueling GCI, classic Schwarzkopf, and chocolate-scented bathrooms. 36. How many different parks did you go to last season? I went on my biggest vacation yet last summer and visited 5 new parks (3 Six Flags, Hershey, and Dorney) in addition to my regular Knott's and SFMM. 37. The indoor coaster/dark ride you ride most often is... Timber Mountain Log Ride or Calico Mine Ride. 38. When you spend the day at the park what do you drink all day? Mostly water, but I'm a sucker for Knott's boysenberry punch. 39. The name of the best B&M you've ridden is? Nitro! 40. Name three other forum members that will fill this out... Coasterbill already filled it out, so I'm good.
  20. 1. I would recommend getting to the park before opening and heading straight to X2 as soon as possible. Even though this is what most of the general public does, that line gets absolutely ridiculous in the summer. Most people say it dies off by 3-4pm, but I have never once seen the line shorter later in the day than it was right in the morning when heading straight there. After X2, I would head up the hill and do Tatsu (prepare for a line), Ninja, and Superman. Then I would head down the opposite side and do Gold Rusher, Apocalypse, and then head over to Batman. Skip Riddler's Revenge and Green Lantern for the time being since both of those rides have a single rider line. By then you will have ridden 7 coasters, so if making TC your 100th is that important, I would then go to that. After TC, you then have several options. If I were you, I would do Scream, Goliath, Full Throttle, Revolution, and Viper (looping around the front of the park). After Viper, you can then go back and catch all the rides with single rider lines (RR, GL, Lex Luthor). If you can, I would highly recommend a Flash Pass. They are a little pricey, but they make your day a zillion times less stressful and more fun. 2. X2: I would try to sit as far back as possible (which is actually near the front since you enter backwards, so one of the first rows to exit the station) on an inside seat. X2 can be very temperamental, and sometimes the inside seat vs. outside seat is a big difference. Just keep your legs against the seat and your head forward and you should have fun. Tatsu: Any seat is fine. It's a flying coaster, so every row is the front row obviously. The back is more intense on the drop and the pretzel loop, but the front has some advantages too. I personally prefer the back. Superman: One great advantage of the trains now going backwards is that the shortest line is now for the front row. The front row on this ride is pretty much it's saving grace since you get a major face lift on the way down. Other than that, every other seat is just "meh." Ninja: Anywhere. It's pretty much all the same. The front has more swing on some of the turns though. Gold Rusher: The very back car on this ride is the hidden gem of the park IMO. The ride essentially has no restraints, so you get thrown around like crazy in the back car. Apocalypse: It's terrible everywhere. Go for the shortest line and get outta there ASAP. Batman: Like most B&M Inverts, the very front and very back are the best. One for the views and freedom, the other for intensity. Twisted Colossus: The front! The back is great too, but the front has some fantastic airtime going over all the hills. Scream: I tend to find the very front to be the smoothest seat with a full train, but it's a rough ride everywhere. Goliath: I prefer the back for the whip over the drops, but the front is fun when stalling on the drop after the MCBR. Full Throttle: Back, back, BACK! The final drop at the end is INSANE in the back. Revolution: Not sure if VR will be there in June, so I would initially recommend the front for the views. But the trains are short, so it doesn't matter much. Viper: I love the front for the intense entrances to the loops and the strong air hopping into the MCBR, and it tends to be the smoothest seat from my experience. Riddler's Revenge: The inside two seats of any row tend to be smoother and feel "more heartlined" than the outer two seats. I haven't noticed much different front-to-back. Green Lantern: I absolutely love this ride when I have a crazy unbalanced car, but some people can't handle that intensity and prefer to have a more balanced car. Up to you, but either way, it's a crazy ride. Lex Luthor: Doesn't matter at all. Sorry for the long answer. Hopefully I gave some useful advice and wasn't just babbling.
  21. Nice report! I visited last Tuesday and also found it odd that Xcelerator was running two trains. Capacity is essentially the same whether one train or two, but it's odd that they run both trains in the off-season and only one train during the summer. On another note, I really hope that Monte and Xcelerator (especially Monte) get a fresh coat of paint sometime relatively soon. Every other coaster in the park has been repainted in the last 5 years.
  22. Looks fantastic! This ride will solidify that Kings Island is the place to be for night rides. The Beast may have a little competition!
  23. GhostRider yesterday afternoon. Despite being a fairly cool day, it was completely hauling a$$. Absolutely LOVE what Knott's did to the ride.
  24. I'm looking forward to pretty much everything coming to the two Cedar Fair and two Six Flags parks in California. These four parks are getting exactly what they needed. 1) All of the Knott's expansions and additions including Sol Spin, the MUCH NEEDED Soak City expansion, the extended Boysenberry Festival, and Ghost Town Alive. Can't wait to have my favorite flat ride at my home park. Now I won't have to go up to Utah to ride it! 2) Patriot at CGA. Hopefully I will make it up to this park before summer. Been dying to finally try Gold Striker, Flight Deck, and my first Stand-Up-->Floorless conversion. 3) Wonder Woman at SFDK. In addition to the Joker, Superman, Medusa, and V2, I'm very much looking forward to this frisbee. If it's anything like the Huss versions at CP and KI, I'm a happy camper. They are great rides. 4) Justice League at SFMM. Dark rides don't do much for me, but the park desperately needs an indoor attraction with (hopefully) AC, and it will draw some crowds to an increasingly dying area of the park. 2017 may not be a big coaster year, but many parks (particularly in the CF and SF chains) are getting much needed improvements and additions.
  25. Do you happen to know if GhostRider is running two trains? I'll be heading to the park tomorrow and am curious to know.
