  1. I'm going to say that with modern technology we could come up with some overly elaborate and cost preventative system which could account for the varying weight distributions of riders, especially if you made the cars like Matterhorn where everyone sits in a row. Perhaps a section of track before the lift could weigh the car and check its weight distribution, which would then allow trims to be applied and perhaps a thin weight in the bottom of the car to shift so the weight is balanced. If you put this overly elaborate system inside you take most of the chance out of it. Having said all of that, it will never get built thanks to insurance as many have said. Many people have mentioned that landing would be very rough, which is more than likely very true. Also there is almost no way you can prevent the riders from trying to rotate the car once airborne. Heck if you need signs on Ferris Wheels saying to not rotate the cars this thing is a recipe for disaster. Novel idea, but its not going to happen.
  2. I actually like most Arrows I've been on but I think Magnum would be the best, though I like the Canyon Blaster a lot since it was in my hometown and the airtime in the back is pretty decent for a smaller coaster.
  3. Lupe Fiasco, DJ Unk, The Sugarhill Gang and Kid Beyond at W.I.L.D., a concert held on our campus twice a semester. If you haven't heard of Kid Beyond, check him out. He can do some amazing stuff with his microphone and looping.
  4. I counted 108 and the second video backs me up on that. But honestly that is nuts and I would probably love it. I think the most I've gone upside down in a day is 120 times, and that was after spending an entire day in the Adventuredome in Vegas. One ride on this thing and I would get damn near beating that. Thanks for sharing!
  5. The water rapids ride at what was Six Flags Belgium was horrible when I went there. The people in line were quite obnoxious and there was gum stuck to just about every wall in the queue. I don't remember if there was a lot of trash everywhere, but it was just pretty nasty in general.
  6. People who wait to the last minute or move into the lane that has no traffic are the people who cause backups. If everyone saw the sign and moved over then you wouldn't have people slowing down so they don't hit barriers and forcing everyone else to slow down to let them in. Its that whole I need to get there faster mentality, though I'm not sure if there are any benefits overall. If I still had my transportation engineering book I'd crack it open since I think I remember something about this being in there.
  7. Some people no longer deserve to be famous (an argument can be made whether they should have been in the first place too) and Britney is one of them. Sorry, but seeing as many young people for some reason look up to celebrities, she should never set foot on a stage again. What she has is long gone after the days of baby incidents and crotch shots. Having said that the VMA's were a let down, though I wasn't planning on watching them initially either. However, I think being at the VMA's would have been quite the experience. Being in a hotel room with your favorite band playing with a hundred or so other people would be pretty cool.
  8. I'd have to say Blue Streak since I haven't been on many rides fitting the qualifications. Not to say Blue Streak isn't good because it does deliver some good airtime, but there are better rides out there.
  9. Not all the good coasters out there are record breakers. For example a lot of people love Raven at Holiday World and its the smallest woodie there. Another case in point, Son Of Beast at Kings Island, record breaking, but horrible.
  10. I don't see why feet hitting the cars would be a problem since that could only happen going from the lift hill into the drop, and aside from the Dive Machines, B&M doesn't have too many other coasters where the crest of the drop is that sharp. I see the twisting drops being more of a design necessity to give the ride a smaller footprint. If for example Batman didn't have a twisting drop, the ride would take up a lot more space than it does. Most of the inverts I've seen are right in the corner or edge of the property, so it would almost be a necessity for it to fit. Also, why waste the space you could use for future expansion if you don't have to?
  11. Looks like a fun ride, and also very deceptive due to its size. Its small, but it looks like it packs a heck of a punch.
  12. Thanks for the photos! First I've seen of the Intamin Ball Coasters in action. It is sad to hear that the ride isn't as tall as it could be as these things might have some serious potential.
  13. I've only been on it once and it was easily worth the approx. two hour wait. We were in the back seat which was by far one of the more intense rides I've been on. In my opinion it is an absolutely amazing ride, but I was also not willing to wait the hour and a half to go on it again since I only had a day to do everything in CP. If you have more than one day, I'd probably go on it again if the wait is 1 - 1.5 hours.
  14. I can see some benefits to the funky train design that will probably mess operations up a bit. To me one of the motivations behind the change could be to give everyone a more open feeling on the ride, thus making it a little bit more exciting for some people. If I ever go to the park I'll be looking forward to riding it simply for the 85*, 230 ft first drop in the back row. I kind of find it funny that most people are pretty content to go on a Wacky Worm at an obscure park in the middle of nowhere to get the credit, but some of the rides with real potential are so highly criticized. Can't please everybody all the time I guess.
  15. I'd take out Son of Beast and use the lumber to make houses for the community.
  16. I had a ride on Disaster Transport with the lights on last time I went. That was pretty messed up. I've been on it two other times and it kind of made sense / was kind of cool then, but I was just lost with the lights on. My most messed up ride would probably be Maverick since there are so many changes in direction and the airtime in the back was nuts. It was kind of vibratey for a new ride, but its still probably in my top 5.
  17. 'Congratulations, your dead body is worth $5425! Doesn't that make you feel great?' If only I had some more strange things going on, but was also in good health.
  18. Suburban Legends Zolof the Rock and Roll Destroyer Patent Pending Jet Lag Gemini It should have been Reel Big Fish, Less than Jake, Streetlight Manifesto and Against All Authority but the tickets sold out before I got my lazy arse to the venue.
  19. Thanks for the video Robb! You can actually see the valves behind the saucers close after the saucers go over them. I do see why the ride isn't around anymore. Doesn't look that thrilling (not that Disney rides have to be or are in general) or up to Disney standards. It kind of looks like it was just plopped down and the novelty of being on a flying saucer had to carry the ride.
  20. Great photo TR Wes! I'd agree with KI being kind of meh. My girlfriend and I managed to go on all the credits in roughly 3 hours the first time we were there. Last time we were there we went on SOB and then Firehawk and spent the rest of the 3 hours we were there at Boomerang Bay, which was still meh, save the flowrider.
  21. To me it sounds like a teaser for a new coaster as they have 10 as of now. I'm going to say its an aquatrax.
  22. Firehawk at King's Island. Fun ride, not sure if its a credit since I've been on x-flight but it was much better than SOB which I rode immediately before.
  23. I think clouds like that are mentioned in the bible somewhere near the end. I was sad I wound up going to CP the day before you guys came, but we wound up not having any rain. We did get some nice 95* and crap tons of humidity and lots of EMT carts with passed out people.
  24. Just out of curiosity, when are you guys hitting up CP? I looked at the flyer and the info on the event page and they don't list specific dates. I'll be there on the 7th so if the hundred people from TPR will be there as well it would probably make it the best CP trip ever.
  25. I believe I've done this before but I don't know if it works, but is it possible to enter the park from the Soak City entrance if you are not staying at one of the resorts? I swear one of the times my aunt parked back there since we had some people going to Soak City and they just let us in a little early. I'll be going on a Tuesday so hopefully the crowds aren't too bad and its a day trip so no hotel for us.
