  1. Its actually not that much money if you catch the right time. I think the cruise cost us somewhere around $300 save for excursions. Granted we had an indoor stateroom, but why hang out in the room the entire day if you're on a cruise?
  2. So I technically got back last week but I came back to a lovely series of tests, and haven't been able to get around to posting this PTR. My girlfriend and I went on a four night cruise to the Bahamas on Royal Caribbean's lovely Majesty of the Seas. The staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful, especially Oscar, the best assistant waiter known to man. He actually noticed my girlfriend was coming down with something mid cruise and made her lemon tea with honey to help her throat. I'd highly recommend them if you're thinking of a cruise. I know everyone says that here it seems, but its true, they are a great cruise line. On with the pictures! So being college students with a limited budget we drove from St. Louis to Miami because we couldn't find cheap tickets. This had some benefits such as lunch in DTD! I was excited to be near Disney since that was the original spring break plan, but none of my friends got their act together. The last time I saw this guy was when I was in 7th grade! We somehow wound up eating at Wolfgang Pucks. Pumpkin ravioli sound strange at first...but are awesome. It seems as if everything looks better at Disney, including the BBQ chicken pizza! Bye DTD! Thanks for lunch Credit! A really good one too. Didn't really expect that much airtime, but the back proved to deliver. This game rocks! I now know why so many people love it. Aside from the arcade and the Dania Beach Hurricane we played a bit of mini golf, but I was too in the zone to take pics. So after two days of driving and farting around in Miami at Boomer's and the Everglades, we arrived at the port. Obligatory "I look funny in a bright orange life vest" muster drill shot Usually my school has spring break at off times compared to others so I didn't think there would be too many spring breakers. Wrong wrong wrong wrong. At least they all look funny too. This is the A Chorus Line Theater on board, where all the shows are held. Some good acts throughout the cruise actually. Two am in the morning on the first night was the only time it was possible to get this shot of the fairly recently renovated pool deck. Perhaps the best thing about cruising is that you fall asleep, and wake up in a different country. Atlantis, which we didn't happen to get to go visit. Perhaps even better was the view from breakfast at Windjammer Cafe. Luckily the weather behaved the entire cruise. We were going to try and sink the Carnival ship next to us, but decided we weren't that great of a shot and shouldn't risk it. Licking the cannon may not have been the best decision in retrospect. Oh this was at Fort Fincastle by the way. Right after Fort Fincastle on our Pirates Tour of Nassau we went to the Queen's Staircase which was chiseled out of the mountainside. My Girlfriend and I at the Queen's Staircase. Fort Charlotte was 5 bucks to go see, so we decided to be harassed by the really pushy souvenir salespeople by the bus instead. Bad decision. Any likeness to Captain Jack Sparrow is completely incidental, I swear. This is from the Pirates of Nassau Museum the tour ended at. It wasn't so much of a museum as we had a guide in complete pirate character leading us around scenes like this. Kind of cool. Nassau also happened to be formal night. Looking overboard for any missing spring breakers. The chefs on board must be bored a lot. Midnight Buffet on the pool deck. Note to Jahan and Ryan: Go on a cruise during spring break! There are so many hot girls its not funny, the odds will be on your side. Also made it feel like I survived temptation island by the time we got off the ship, but if you are single and in that age group, go on a cruise! The flare bartenders came out and did a little demo in the middle of the dance floor. And when we got back to the stateroom, we had a towelphant waiting for us! When we woke up we were in Coco Cay, Royal Carribbean's private little island. The water here was amazing! And the snorkeling was better here than in Nassau strangely enough. They had a sunken boat and two sunken planes out there. We also took the nature trail since it was so windy everything was closed. It was there that we found the illusive Coco Cay wild cat. We headed back to the ship for a late lunch since the BBQ on the beach didn't really have anything for my girlfriend (veggie). They really ought to give the chefs something to do. Fruit monkeys at lunch (I think. There's really so much food it just blurs together after a while). Tonights entertainment: Motown impressionist. This is his Stevie Wonder. Actually a really good show with a lot of audience participation including a guy from I think Paraguay who did part of "My Girl" en espanol. See what I mean by good food? My favorite was actually strawberry soup, but it wasn't on the table long enough for a picture to be taken. My girlfriends digging the vegetarian chili. For any vegetarians about to go on a cruise, don't worry about food, they have you covered too. Looking at the waves, I'd saw we're going through the gulf stream. Towelphant has a friend! Key West! Lots of banyan trees in Key West. And a lot of cats. And a lot of chickens, like this one, which is actually in a gift store somehow. The much feared and very absorbent sponge man. Damn you Ernest Hemmingway. Just let the old geezer catch the frigging fish! Something exciting was going over there, I can't remember what. Maybe it was this giant statue like thing at the art museum. No, it was definitely the sideboob on this pirate chick. Obligatory I've been to Key West shot. End of the road. Or the beginning if you're an optimist. We went kayaking here which was kind of cool. Lots of fun things to see lurking in the mangroves. We had a menagerie of towel animals by the end. This is Oscar the Assistant Waiter we had who was worth his weight in gold. Seriously one of the nicest guys I've met. If you've made it this far, congrats your half done! Kidding. Thanks for reading.
  3. I love how they even have one of the monorail cars down to the t. Thanks for the update, I might have to go down and check it out if I go home anytime this summer.
  4. I play trumpet and the various variations on it (cornet, fluegelhorn...). I used to play in the Las Vegas Brass Band when I was in High School, which was rather cool since we made a CD my freshman year which is being sold in the UK, Japan and Australia I think. But since I'm in college now and my life is engineering, I don't play too often and when I do its usually playing ska stuff like Reel Big Fish, Streetlight Manifesto, Suburban Legends, Mustard Plug and the like.
  5. Is the LMFAO a reference to the name or his music?
  6. Suburban Legends, MC Lars, Patent Pending and a slew of ok opening local acts. Good show.

  8. Congratulations guys! She looks like she'll have tons of company the first few years in life with YetiBall, Penguin and all the others.
  9. Statue of St. Louis in front of the Art Museum in Forest Park in where else, St. Louis. Testing out long exposure shots on my camera. Inflatable snail thingy from Mystere. Lake Las Vegas. I highly recommend going there if you have the time. The Getty Center in LA. Tohono Chul Park in Tucson. Great prickly pear lemonade. Caesars Palace Austin Mini Cooper at the Art Center in Pasadena.
  10. Good TR. In a few weeks I might be posting one almost identical to this one since I'll be going on the same cruise, the same ship, but hopefully with better weather! I didn't think this ship had any other places to eat other than the Windjammer cafe and the dinning rooms, so thats a nice little surprise.
  11. You're making me regret not going to Disney for Spring Break. If only I could eat at Disney for a reasonable price or if the Royal Caribbean cruise I'll be going on wasn't significantly cheaper than I'd be going to WDW. Great TR, can't wait to see more.

  13. I'd say if you can get a really clear shot very close up to the train on a bunny hop that would work. Think it'd work best in b&w.
  14. ^ I think with perspective that might just be a boom of a crane, so little to no danger of smacking into the tower.
  15. Controlling that mechanically would be a lot of fun and logistically it almost has to be computer controlled in order to have it load since it will naturally want to have riders on their backs. They could put little brackets on the side of the car and have that catch on a track to bring it to a horizontal position with, but all of this is too complicated. The Robocoaster will do pretty much the same thing and looks much better.
  16. That looks like so much fun! I mean if it weren't like being launched out of a cannon several times in a row it would be great. Having those cords fail would suck though, could probably fly a few hundred feet until you hit a tree in that forest. Would also suck if you're ATV gave out and you have more of an arc motion, being launched out of a cannon, then slamming into the ground, then more being airborne, then hello to Mr. Ground again.
  17. "Boulevard of Broken Dreams" by Green Day. I have to change the iPod/radio whatever the instant I can hear the song (which is usually about 1 second into it). While this isn't the worst song ever written, it has been played at least once on the radio for every day the Earth is old, if not three or four times. It has scarred me for life.
  18. I saw part of the body and some of the ideas where very far-fetched, but at the same time they showed how amazingly close we are to being at that level of technology. For example they had a shirt on the show that would give authorities all of your vital information in case it had noticed you had been attacked or in an accident, call the authorities, and give the ambulance your medical records. This sounded like it would be impossible but then they showed that some prof at Georgia Tech had developed a shirt which has wires and computer chips woven into it (its washable too!) that can track your heart rate. So while the idea of what will happen in 50 years seems really impossible, it really might be obtainable.
  19. The fact that the little strap from the 5 point harness can touch the ground at times would make me think I'm never going to get on that. I'll take the no death, already proven Robocoaster, thanks very much.
  20. Is the link not working for anyone else? It seems like work has been slow at whatever factory this is. I don't know that I would trust something like that just going off the picture.
  21. The pictures are actually kind of funny. Apparently one of their water slides is on a cruise ship. At least it doesn't sound like another Batman. 164 ft is actually pretty decent for an invert so it should be good. Can't wait to see the layout.
  22. Any press is good press. That and the fact that this guy had a season pass for the 5 years and the free advertisement which is saying that someone loved our ride so much he practically spent more time at it than his job really doesn't hurt either. I'd give him a free season pass for that kind of press, if not more. You can't get media coverage that good for that low of a price.
  23. Best: Nemesis Worst: Scream! (Really I don't think there is anything that can beat it, it is in the parking lot, the line doesn't have much, the station doesn't have anything either)
  24. I'd say the more competition the better. Hell I'd be doing dances if US finally just died as its been unsuccessfully been trying to do for decades. Anyone have any pics of these allegedly "hot" stewardesses? I love Southwest personally. While their prices have risen unfortunately, they still have some really good deals with their Ding program thing that can get you flights for $29 from time to time. I've always found their staff to be much nicer than other companies (especially America West) and they are usually much more punctual than other airlines. I know all of this varies on a day to day basis and how bad of a day the flight attendants have been having where flights are going etc., but I've flown them for a long time and they have been pretty consistent.
