  1. Worst: Any ride ending in a lift hill (eg. Ninja) Best: I really like the finale of The Legend and other similar unexpected moments of intensity right before the brakes or station.
  2. I didn't think Panic at the Disco was from the DC area. Seems weird seeing as I went to high school in Vegas with Ryan and it hasn't been that long since graduation / their hitting it big.
  3. I've done all the calculations for stuff like this last semester in Environmental Engineering and I don't think we are as screwed as the WWF says that we are. However America does have an ecological footprint of about 5 planets (it would take 5 planets to sustain the resources we use and to absorb the waste we produce) which is significantly higher than most countries. Fact of the matter is that we need to all be a bit more conscious of the environment and that we all can make a difference no matter how small it is. Global warming is a reality and while you may not think there is a global climate change (not to be confused with temerature) it is happening, and at a a significantly higher rate than normal. If I still had all the pretty charts and graphs I could show you CO2 emissions over the past few centuries and more or less prove its our fault but I don't have that handy. Whether you agree with it or not, its happening, and its our planet so we need to start treating it better because so far its the only one we've got. Maybe if we can do that we might be able to treat each other equally too, but like that'll ever happen.
  4. Congrats guys! I know you haven't been on any coasters since finding out but I can't help but wonder if he or she will be born with a few credits under their belt. This kid is going to be so spoiled with such awesome parents.
  5. It won't be stable enough unless you don't accelerate them that quickly. If its a nice gradual increase in acceleration it shouldn't be a problem, but that would require some nifty programming and some sensors.
  6. Is it just me or does large amounts of electricity and water not seem like a great mix? When I first read that I was under the impression that the LIMs would launch the conveyor belt rather than whatever propulsion method they have now. Also a large metal plate on the bottom of a raft might not be so great for the rest of the slide, and those would need to be custom made rafts.
  7. Oddly enough I think I got into Branson the same day you took this Photo TR as it was excedingly foggy. I will be posting a TR of my own at some point and time but its good to see you had fun despite the uncomfortable chairs in the cabin. I can vouch that riding the water rides now is a bad idea, I will hopefully learn from that mistake after riding the log flume. Unfortunately the toboggans were closed because I would have gone on those in a heartbeat despite the weather. A little hint for those of you going to SDC, if you buy your tickets from the Branson Tourism Center / gas station you can get a two day pass for the price of one day admission.
  8. For engineering orientation at our school all the staff members are given hard hats and forced against their will to decorate it as there are precious prizes at stake. Well seeing as the school year hadn't started I decided I would build my first ever roller coaster model out of toothpicks, on my hard hat. I know the design isn't the greatest (the one I drew up was going to be awesome) but with the time limit and the interesting complications that come with working with toothpicks I settled on this. It took me a good 6 or so hours to do but it was well worth it for what I think is the first terrain hard hat mounted toothpick wooden roller coaster model. The final helix into the brake run. The station and turnaround. Finished product complete with train and station. I named it after my Engineering Math teacher if anyone is wondering (inside engineering joke). Same day showing the other side of the layout. After day 1 a bit more of the layout is done along with some cross bracing. The hard hat had to evolve throughout the week of orientation, so here it is after the first night (started at around 11:00 I think) Here's the bent construction, one of what would seem to be endless problems with working with toothpicks.
  9. Looks cool. I amagine you are adding all the crossbracing in the bents as you go? Have fun trying to get a lego car to stay on, while it will be possible it might be a bit challenging.
  10. My guess would be a full on crane with a cage attached to it.
  11. I'm a fan of the tunnel after the midcourse break run on The Voyage. I swear there are LIMs in the tunnel to gain that speed, after the breaks. That and the air on the triple down takes you by suprise.
  12. Seeing as I've been on Raptor, Batman Clones, and SLC's. I had to give it to Raptor for the front-row breakless night ride I had after the lift broke for a while. I swear my feet hurt at times from blood rushing to them.
  13. So in essence they are building City Museum but in an actual museum. FYI City Museum is a "Museum" in downtown St. Louis that is nothing but stuff to climb on, huge slides and other fun stuff. They have a skateless skate park (rope swings, miniramps, bowls, quarter pipes), a huge outdoor ballpit with dodgeballs for the balls, and a few multi-story slides. You guys should check it out next time you are in STL. www.citymuseum.org
  14. I made my first visit this year myself and I found it to be a very nice little park. Yes the rides were lacking somewhat, but my girlfriend and I were kept busy most of the day by going to Splashin' Safari and testing whether the front or back was better for all the coasters. First time I'd been on Flyers as well so that was fun. Great park, great atmosphere, they really deserve this one.
  15. I still don't really think that X-Scream is that exciting. Insanity is a bit better but Big Shot is the best by a landslide.
  16. I think it may have been the Raven at Holiday World, although my memory is failing me as to whether that was last or the Voyage. Either way the day ended on a good note. I'll hopefully be going to SFSTL sometime in October so the season isn't quite over yet.
  17. Big Shot is by far the best ride up there, followed by Insanity, then X-Scream. Insanity isn't that bad but actually produces some decent forces in addition to making you stare straight down 900 feet. X-Scream is a kiddie ride and needs to go down at a much steeper angle to actually make it scarier (kind of impossible with that whole tower thing being in the way).
  18. Wow that older model looks straight out of RCT! Looks like it'll be a very cool park and I wouldn't mind seeing Dubai so maybe when I'm out of college and this is built then I can go. Anyone else think its somewhat strange that the boat/hotel has a lot of sails but paddles on the side a la a steamboat?
  19. Sorry but I can't find any pics of coaster stuff on the site, just a bunch of water slides and some sea lions. Also, what is that Dragon's Hole supposed to be? Is that a Tornado thats themed or is it a Family Sized Bowl that's themed? I only see one tornado-esque slide from the park map.
  20. It seemed to be a lot easier as it went but I got 6/10. Need to brush up on my themeparks of the 20's.
  21. So yeah, I just finished watching and apparently no Will. The guest was Ken Jennings they talked about the guy who wrote A Million Little Pieces and that was about it.
  22. Any non heartline roll on a flying coaster (X-flight's vertical loop, Tatsu's pretzel loop) have to be at the top, not so much that they have more g's than the others but the orientation of your body to the track just makes it feel a heck of a lot stronger.
  23. I would bet money its going to be about the War on Christmas or that it at least is going to be involved with the interview at some point in time given that you guys are in Santa Claus, IN. As everyone has pointed out, everything is a joke and just have fun.
