Remember when Ice Breaker tested like crazy and then it tested with riders and then it did team member previews and then didn't open? The bloggers freaking out about this apparently learned nothing from that.3 points

With such a large crowd, I wonder how fun it was to stand in a two hour wait for something as exciting as their log flume. Yet, we complain about 30 minute FL+ waits for incredible coasters.2 points

It's a water park mainly. Coasters will have relatively short lines that move at a snails pace because they aren't exactly quick at ops there. Have fun. Great way to spend a few hours. Get there at opening and you'll have no problems.2 points

Literally everything from Dragster (a ride with 10,000 drive tires) to Wicked Twister (a ride that uses 100% magnetic brakes) would have shut down in that amount of rain. CP is a s-show when there's the slightest mist, meanwhile I had an amazing time at KI a few weeks ago with off-and-on showers - nothing at all closed down or even went to reduced capacity in the rain. Amazing how two parks owned by the same chain in the same state can have such wildly different rain policies...2 points

Well if a games attendant said 2-3 weeks then I suggest we all book flights and hotels for July 22nd.2 points

Am I the only one who thinks Zamperla is a big miss? All of their rides feel like cheap versions of what they should be. Here's to hoping for something better... That said, S&S is typically a solid manufacturer and I couldn't care any less for their 4D coasters. To each their own...2 points

Personally, I'd love to go back to a world without cell phones and with pre-social media Internet. Seemed like a much more carefree time.1 point

I can't believe they went with B&M for their most recent addition.1 point

I really appreciate their ride / rain policy. Very different from the "big house" up north - Cedar Point.1 point

Just trying to be helpful since I was at the park today. The guy seemed to know what he was talking about. An employee is an employee & they’ll know more than the GP for sure.1 point

As part of the 100th year anniversary, Knott's is burying a time capsule! Theme Park Review was invited to the park to see the festivities. Deputy Mayor Milton C. Howell and Ms. Cameo Kate presided over the show. The Time Capsule is scheduled to be opened in 50 years on June 30, 2071. Items were placed into a large boysenberry jam barrel. First, Whittles came out and put the first item into the barrel, a golden nugget. Next, Knott's associates were led on stage by Snoopy. One by one, they each placed an item(s) into the barrel. Finally, a picture of everyone watching the ceremony was taken that will be placed in the capsule as well. The capsule is going to be buried in front of the new ride, Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair. We received a nice booklet with a timeline of Knott's 100 year history. Whittles brought a gold nugget. Banner with employee signatures. A tube from Soak City. Mrs. Knott's Chicken Dinner menu and pie pan. Seeds and a jar of dirt from Knott's berry vines. The girls took off their garter belts and put them in the time capsule. A harness from the Stage Coach. Snoopy put a Snoopy plush into the barrel. A piece of wood from Ghostrider. A box of screws from Ghostrider. A bottle of disinfectant and box of gloves. A roll of toilet paper. Kids from The Boys and Girls club of Buena Park. Sealed and ready to be buried.1 point

Heading to the park next Thursday for my first visit since 2005! Hitting the park for a few hours before heading north to KI and CoasterStock! Any advice on crowds on a weekday? I arrive about 11am and will head straight to the park. I am only looking to ride Lightning Run, Storm Chaser, and Kentucky Flyer (all new credits) and get some cinnamon bread. Do any of these lines move particularly slow? Hoping it's nice weather so most folks will head to the water park. Thanks! And I posted some pics from my last trip there! Most of these rides have been moved and/or retired!1 point

Hear a Rumor going around that Cheetah might be getting the RMC treatment... whether by RMC or by GCI's new program... Have heard that the track has been taken off, but the supports have been left standing.1 point

There's video of it. I don't remember if we're not supposed to link to videos on Facebook, or just certain other sites, so I won't direct link, but it's at https://www.facebook.com/groups/TexasThrillSeekers/1 point

Also glad no one was hurt. It would be utterly terrifying to experience one of the most insane roller coasters in the world in a partially derailed car. But yeah. This is my favorite coaster and I’m visiting for the first time in 5 years at the beginning of August and I’m really really hoping the park realizes the value in this ride and does everything they can to fix it quickly. I can’t think of any similar incidents on a coaster of this scale, though. I have a sickening feeling it will be down for a long, long time.1 point

As a hardcore Intamin fanboy, I totally get where you're coming from. But I think the reason I would prefer a B&M is the park could use another capacity monster. The only high capacity ride in the park is Silver Bullet. Intamins and Macks can usually have decent capacity depending on the train design, but none compare to a B&M Hyper that can run 2-3 trains. Plus, the west coast is severely lacking a fun, floaty, airtime-y ride that is a people eater, reliable, and just "fun." Given Knott's audience I think it would go over extremely well. But I would honestly lose my sh*t if the park announced literally any major coaster so I'm just splitting hairs here. lol1 point

Vests or no vests, Thunderbird is always worth it. Calling the B&M wing rider uncomfortable while in the company of Voyage, wouldn't be logical. --------- Emily and I went to the park this weekend. I'm sorry for not inviting anyone to meet up. We don't get much alone time anymore, and this was our first normal park trip since 2019. Orion is a fantastic coaster. WTF is wrong with people? It's a front row coaster for us, hands down. I felt like my eyelids were peeling back. Outside of 2 SFSTL rides on Screamin Eagle and one on American Thunder, front row on Orion was our first coaster since our one and only 2020 park, SDC (neutered operations). You can imagine how that felt. I liked the themeing. The Orion nightclub/party thing, after 9pm, is entertaining, if not hilarious. It made for a cool vibe, and a miraculous find of the last beer man open, after all hopes were lost. I was also really impressed with Orion's lighting package. Orion is a win, and it beat the pants off of Leviathan, as far as I'm concerned. It immediately dethroned Mystic Timbers as Emily's favorite ride. The park looked great. All of the paint seemed either fresh, or still in good shape. The beer man was prevalent everywhere. Shoutout to the one Blue Ice Cream beer on tap, which was delicious. One heavy beer is enough for me. The midway looks superb at night. Basically, the whole area glows with LED's. The foliage around the Antique Cars is coming in and makes the ride feel more complete. I almost didn't remember Vortex existed, until heading toward the lift on The Beast. No big loss for us. Emily didn't even remember what it looked like. Drop Tower (name?), Windseeker, and the Eiffel Tower were closed. Snoopy wasn't spitting water on the flume, which would have only made our ride more regretful. This flume already has an unacceptable amount of wetness along with it's WTF name. The Beast is getting rough. That included our ride in the middle of the train on non-wheel seats. We wanted to ride it at night, but it closed at 10 for Fireworks. After waiting for it to start back up 10-15 minutes post-fireworks, we left. Why does it take so long?? I was disappointed, but Graeters by our hotel was more of a priority for Emily and the clock was ticking. I try to be a good husband. My fear of a Giga making Diamondback less relevant came true, which is why I was almost wishing for something else when KI was breaking ground. 2nd row is great. Our second ride was in the second to last car. It rattles badly. I'm sorry. I'm waiting for the day Emily says she doesn't want to ride it anymore. She hated Behemoth for that reason. I don't blame her. It's still hard to find the kind of sustained floater air Diamondback delivers. I don't think it ever got the praise it deserved until the last couple years when Orion started pulling people to the park. I loved Diamondback before it was cool to love Diamondback...... Still #1 Hyper for me. Mystic Timbers is still Mystic Timbers, which means it's great. The only thing I noticed is there's no Hall and Oates or other cheesy music that plays. Spooky music played for us until the train was ready to pull into the station for the final scene. It took away some character. Banshee is still a front row ride for us. I wouldn't care for it any other way. Emily says it rattles. Whether tolerable for you or not, it does. Again, same with Diamondback. Our big focus was relaxing and spending time together. We love KI and it's usually an annual park for us. That means no pressure to go crazy, so we didn't ride too much: Orion x4 Diamondback x2 Mystic Timbers x2 Banshee x1 Beast x1 Antique Cars, Snoopy FML flume, Choo Choo, and Dodgems. Beer count: 2 Yuenglings, 1 Ice Cream Beer, and one Bud Light. FL+ is still great. I'll never go without it. Our longest coaster wait was probably Banshee, at 15 minutes or less. Everything else was 5-10. I still hold some of the best wings are 10-20 minutes away at BC Roosters. That, and the second best Yuengling we've had on tap. Pottsville, PA takes the cake. Lastly, shout out to the employee standing in the middle of a grassy field when the train passed, holding a broom and just looking at us. I laughed all day about the kid who yelled, "Good job cleaning the grass!"1 point

The factory coaster may fit the steampunk theming and looks ok with the drop track and all (and would be cooler if ACed in summer) but if I were Zamp and was trying to show off a new ride somewhere aka impress and take orders = make money, I'd be looking for a park to showcase the 230 footer asap. ^ I'm not 100% sold on the double heart. . . as many of the "clues" have pointed to heavy, heavy "Screampunk" theming. and Zamperla also sells this: https://www.zamperla.com/products/factory-coaster/ which absolutely seems to be a perfect fit - matches all the clues, and SFFT has never had an indoor coaster (Astroworld had the popular Mayan Mindbender, and SFOT has the very popular Runaway Mountain). . .with the theming opportunities? I think this is actually a much better fit for the park.1 point

I went to Kennywood for the first time on Sunday, and I had a blast! Due to a weather delay on the first leg of my trip and weather concerns for Monday, I decided to take a chance and fit Kennywood in for the second half of the day after riding Leap the Dips at Lakemont. I realized that I probably wouldn't get much in at Kennywood and decided to just take it easy and enjoy what I could. Because of the change of plans, my original coaster riding companion couldn’t join me, so it was just me and my coaster-phobic friend. Kennywood wasn’t as busy as I expected for a Sunday at 3:00pm. I walked straight to Steel Curtain to check out the line. It was posted at 45 minutes. Not bad compared to the reports of 2 hour waits, so I got on line. It seemed like all was well until they began cycling empty trains. After the 3rd or 4th empty train, I left and went to Phantom's Revenge, which was my most anticipated coaster. They were only running one train at that time, but the 25-30 minute wait was worth it! This ride lives up to the hype. It was hauling, and I loved the air and view coming over the second hill. After Phantom’s Revenge (or is it Antom's Evenge?), I went on my most anticipated woody, Jackrabbit. They were running two trains and the line wasn’t very long, so there wasn’t much of a wait. The line cut off right before me, so I got the front seat!! Such a fun ride! I love the classic woodies that don’t break my back (like Leap the Dips did!), and the double down is, like many have said before, a high point. My coaster-phobic friend snapped this on-ride photo of me! Next I rode Racer, which also had a short wait. It was my first racing coaster, and I had fun on it. I was in the blue train, and we tied with the green train! After Racer, I rode the Whip, which has always been a favorite flat of mine. My coaster phobic friend also turned out to be whip phobic, so I rode it alone and my cart was extra bouncy. Surprisingly, my friend suggested the Pittsburg Plunge because there was no line and we wanted to cool down. We walked right on, got seated in the back, and of course came off soaked. I haven’t been on a Shoot the Chute since the 90s, so it was a fun way to cool down. We also took a spin on the carousel, which is quite nice! I snapped a photo of Phantom's Revenge and the Whip while waiting for the ride to begin. Because my friend had fun on the Pittsburg Plunge, I tried to get him on the Jackrabbit. I wanted a second ride, and I hoped I could work him up to riding Thunderbolt, but he didn’t trust my description of the Jackrabbit as mild ( I did however get him to ride Leap the Dips earlier while at Lakemont, and he had more fun on it than I did!). I didn’t want to waste time looking for a solo rider for Thunderbolt, so I skipped it. It does look like a lot of fun, and I will make it a priority on my next visit, whenever that might be. Finally, I went back to Steel Curtain where the trains were no longer empty. They were running two, but loading seemed quite slow. Overall I think I waited about 30 minutes because I got to skip the line when they needed a single rider. Not bad for a Sunday!! Going into the visit, Steel Curtain wasn’t one of my most anticipated coasters, but wow! It was smooth, forceful, and fast! I loved the dive drop, and there are some strong positive gs when they snap the photo! It was a quick trip, but it all worked out and I had an excellent time! The park was nicer than I expected based on descriptions I’ve read from those who lament the passing of the good old days. I would agree that it doesn’t match up to the old-timey charm of Knoebel’s or Waldameer, but the stellar lineup makes up for the somewhat sterile feel.1 point

I just really don’t think they’d do all this teasing for a flat ride. Especially since it’s being described as a new signature attraction. Also the fact that he said he’s been five years in making. It’s been four years since Wonder Woman, so then adding a coaster for 2022 fits the pattern of adding a new coaster every couple years.1 point

So for anyone who is interested I got some details on the turkey leg incident. This was via my personal ride op who got it from a supervisor, so it's been through a few people BUT........apparently, there are only a finite number of turkey legs available each day due to the fact that they have to smoke/roast overnight. So they had told the people in line we only have enough to get through person A but that the other stand still had some and they could go there, which most people did. However, one person started arguing about it since that line was longer and she clearly did not understand what a finite number means That started the argument, that turned into a fight, that turned over the cart, that killed the fly, etc etc. Best part: the "cart" that was turned over were the turkey legs that were getting ready to go into the cooker for the next day so they were fighting over turkey legs that were not even cooked yet. I hope they all got sick.1 point

After three long years we finally returned to this park (Our favorite SF park easily!) The weather helped keep the crowds down both days (Saturday it was raining until after lunchtime and Sunday just plain hot and humid). I was eager to try out the three attractions added since our last visit: Pirates, DDD, and Joker. The Pirates of the Deep Sea was heavily themed, entertaining, and a welcome break from the outside heat. I found Dare Devil Dive Flying Machines to be surprisingly fun for what it was but not something I would want to ride again and again. The theming was really cool though. There was a costumed 'character' greeting riders in the queue - I think he was supposed to be 'the inventor'. Curiously, this ride did not elevate to the top on every cycle but stayed low to the ground. I only observed the planes up in the air once. Lastly, The Joker Carnival of Chaos was as fun as I expected. I really like these pendulum rides. I did notice there was a sign near the queue entrance advertising the world record specifications of this ride, still referring to it with the discarded name "Wild Card". Poltergeist was down but we already had the credits from prior visits. Still missed riding it though. I really liked Hustler's new paint job. The bonus of the day was the Rock The Night Grand Finale fireworks and laser show. I remember seeing a similar show three years ago and this one did not disappoint. The Diamond / DE seating area was nice too. Ride ops and food service were excellent. We will be back! Great addition to the park! Awesome theming but lacks the re-rideability of many other rides here. This view never gets old! Signs like this were all over the park. Possibly a haunt overlay to Poltergeist queue? Another great finale! We will be back1 point

Wow the coaster gods took mercy on me today! When I left it was like 75-80+% chance of rain and thunderstorms. I arrived at KW at noon and it was light drizzle on and off, eventually stopping. Got the perfect combo of dry AND crowds kept away! Went to Steel Curtain first, (since I was there an hour in figured the Exterminator line was already screwed) and the line wasn't that bad physically but took about 30 mins due to the 1 train ops. It was not the crew, they seemed to be moving and were quite efficient. It was simply the 1 train. Did 2 rides, once 2nd row once towards to rear, fun ride but weirdly underwhelming. It has it all: speed, elements, a unique layout, airtime but it was just a bit...well I guess forceless. Air was good. Guess I thought it'd have a little more oomph esp the 2nd half. Over the Phantom's which was a walk on, literally. Forgot how sick that ride is, especially in back! Knocked out Sky Rocket which was better than expected (granted expectations were low). Honestly I really liked the first half, I got back row and those drops had some (brief) pops of pretty nasty air and it was a speedy little ride. It did peter out hard after the 2nd barrel roll, the twisty part and final hills etc were pretty lame. That said running 2 trains and ops were fast, so this was also a walk on. Jack Rabbit I lucked out hard and got cut off next to board. This was great as naturally I took back row, and it also had 2 trains so the wait was like a minute. This was better than expected. I had the vibe its "eh" with the sick double down but I got some pretty good air on a couple other drops! Also by a year this now takes record for oldest coaster I have ridden. Racer was also better than expected, which again wasn't much but it wasn't too bad in back. Line was again short, only 2 cycles ahead of me, though it did move pretty slow. IDK if this is common but ONE person was doing both trains, felt bad for that woman. But yeah solid little ride. Perhaps unpopular opinion(?) but I like Thunderbolt least of the 3 classic woodies there. Exterminator's line was indeed looooooong and I know how slow it goes, by this point I was getting tired and Phantom's again was empty. I count creds but not a cred whore, so I made the choice to not wait. I love a spinner too but long wait for that or 3 rides in less time on Phantom's? Which I did, it was wild 3 walk ons, right to the train in one case it timed perfectly that I barely broke stride and jumped onto the loading train. Maybe it warmed up by this point but felt even wilder. What a ride truly. All in all this experience was the polar opposite of my last (hot as hell, crowded as hell, few rides closed/down) and in a better mood, it wasn't a bad park. I did kinda like the more forested parts and the whole fountain area by the splash boats was wonderful. Now that redemption has been had not sure I'll make a case to stop here at least for a while but considering I got near all I wanted done, (even snuck a ride on Swingshot) in 3 hours and it was not the total washout I feared, not too shabby!1 point
