rcjp Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 ^^I think he was talking about that fact that it is rotating instead of sliding to the side or turning slightly like tatsu's does, for instance.
coasterfreak101 Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 ^If that is what he asking, then yes, those exist - the Vekoma Flying Dutchmen use the flip track instead of the normal sliding version, as does Expedition Everest!
DJeXeL Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 ^Yea I remember seeing this video which briefly discusses 1 of the track switches on EE. Gerstlauer's will most likely operate with the same counter weight system to make the transition smooth. Skip to 8:50 for track switch portion.
Dollywood Pete Posted January 27, 2014 Posted January 27, 2014 I thought you might want to see the switch track close up. Here is a close up of the switch track at the station.
Cyrbuzz Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 My son would love this ride. Trains and firefighters are his two biggest interests. The themeing looks incredible as any Dollywood creation would.
DanTheBooker Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 (edited) Double Post, SORRY! Edited January 28, 2014 by DanTheBooker
DanTheBooker Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 I can hear the TPR video now..... "TWWIIISSSTTTYYYYYY"
rcjp Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So the switch track will not be exactly like Vekoma's after all as it's not "balanced" while on, let's say, firehawk, the two bits of track are back to back. Anyway, I guess this is not entirely relevant to the ride itself which is looking pretty nice.
Jhcbiinoc Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Don't know if anyone has seen these yet, but there are some great new photos of the construction up on the official site...this looks like another perfect addition to the park and a great family coaster! fce.dollywood.com/photos/
coasterbill Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Don't know if anyone has seen these yet, but there are some great new photos of the construction up on the official site...this looks like another perfect addition to the park and a great family coaster! fce.dollywood.com/photos/ It looks like such a mess of track and other crap right now but I have no doubt this thing is going to fit into the park perfectly and look amazing on opening day. I can't wait to ride it.
SuperShawn Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 ^^ Hadn't seen those photos. It really is quite the mess of track in the best way possible. Looking forward to giving it a few rides opening weekend.
Mrlittle Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 ^^^ Wow the first photo they have on their site. The coaster is more spread out then I thought previously.
arby Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 ^That's awesome! This is exactly what Dollywood needs.
DBJ Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 That looks really good. I think that pretty much every park could use a coaster like this in their attractions roster.
triggernel Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 It certainly takes up a large plot of land for a ride with such a small drop. Reminds me of Orange Streak and Jaguar.
rcjp Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 That does really spread out across a massive area for such a coaster! Looks great too!
piedude81 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So last night I had a dream about riding FCE... I had a dream I was at a TPR event at SFStL. I even felt the forces while riding Batman in my dream lol! That sucks. Sorry you got stuck at my homepark in an awesome dream!

thrillerman1 Posted February 1, 2014 Posted February 1, 2014 What's the latest on the DreamMore Resort? Has construction started? I can't remember seeing any pictures here if so. The website only shows land clearing site prep photos from November... http://dreammoreresort.com/details.html photo credit dreammoreresort.com
jimmiemac02 Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 As we were driving into the park when I went for Christmas, they were clearing land for the project. I saw lots of construction vehicles at the site, but that was about it.
mratigan Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I have been looking for a ride layout to Blazing Fury and I couldn't find anything. Do any of you guys have the layout?
coasterfreaky Posted February 3, 2014 Posted February 3, 2014 I have been looking for a ride layout to Blazing Fury and I couldn't find anything. Do any of you guys have the layout? Well...sort of. Here's Fire In The Hole's panel...its layout is basically the same as Blazing Fury. The station area is on the right. I think FITH at one point had a different layout - you can see where they adjusted the layout on the panel. I think Blazing Fury's layout has remained the same. here's FITH's panel(bottom part)...from the Control Panel thread. here's FITH's panel...from the Control Panel thread.

Vonni Posted February 5, 2014 Posted February 5, 2014 ^ Both really good reports, but it really bugged me when the reporter at the end of the second video said "its the first roller coaster to go both forwards, and backwards as well". Research honey, research!
