Stratosphere Tower: High Roller Dismantling

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone its been a long time since ive been on, but i got a bit of news, The roller coaster world is going to be losing the World's Highest Roller Coaster!!!!

Thats right kids, the High Roller atop the Stratosphere Tower is being removed, Its last day of operation is December 30th 2005, thats right its a week from today!!!

The High Roller will not even make it to be a decade old. We do not know what will take its place yet, but this is one bit of news that is kinda sad. Well it is to me.

John

Why stop at the edge.....When you can go over!!??

Noooo!

I've only been on that once!

And there's no way I can get there and ride it again in a week!

Waaahhh... I love you, High Roller.. so fun and cheap to boot.... I'll just to have to express my sorrow by riding your (S&Ster) Big Shot...

I heard or saw a post that they want to add a bungee drop or zip line?

Now THAT would rule.

Kinda like one of the rides they originally proposed, where a coaster train dropped down the side of the tower and across Las Vegas Blvd.

Nooooooooooo. I will go to Vegas in 2006 and I wanted to ride that thing!

I know it's not a great coaster, but I want the credit (and the view).

Actually, the view is not that great, as (especially with the first ride) you are scared of how high up you are!

I am still freaked out when I go up the tower! But maybe you will not be so acrophobic.

Wow, I'm glad I finally got out to Vegas when I did, and that I was lucky enough to get to ride the High Roller. It may not have been very extreme, but it was pretty unique having a coaster that high in the air. I can only assume the removal of this means they'll try to get another coaster of sorts in its place.

That was going to be made by Arrow. I remember all the fuss about it. People didn't want it because it would be noisy, so Arrow lowered the height from about 750 feet to 400 feet. Then it just hit snag after snag and eventually was scrapped.

I'm upset that I never got to Las Vegas. High Roller doesn't look like the best or the most fun, but it is an experience unlike any other.

Hey, if you dig deep enough on that Web site, there were plans for a stand-up coaster to be built at the Titanic resort. That'd be cool.

Sadness! I wanted to experience it! Sure, it may not have been that great but would've been a unique experience.

Maybe they'll replace it with an Intamin launch coaster with a 400 foot tophat that will go over the Power Tower. YES. It'll launch in circles around the tower until it reaches its speed to top the tower.

I know, I'm brilliant. When it happens, I get credit!
