This has been interesting to read and a bit sad at the same time. I'm not much of a heights fan, (coasters are cool, but ferris wheels, drop towers, etc really get to me sometimes,) but I did get the chance to check High Roller a few years back on my 21st birthday.

Liquid courage and a ton of peer pressure broke me down, and I have some terrifying memories of the event, to last me a lifetime.

You happen to snag anymore shots dude? Last but not least thanks for the updates, it's much appreciated.

At this time most of the hydraulic lifts and motors have been removed from the track. As i said before track removal will begin in February!

John

Why stop at the edge...

...When you can go over!?

Cool.. bring on more pictures, dude!

But I'm wondering like everyone else, WTF are they going to put in place of this?

FYI, the Strat's site has no mention of the ride whatsoever now. It now bills itself as having the "World's THREE Highest Thrill Rides"!

A tracked robo coaster that actualy hangs you out over the edge, hurling you up and down, rotating you forward and backward, while moving around the top of the tower at 62mph. (Cause' that's the speed of fear.)

F*** the Michael Vic experience. Bring on the S*** your pants experience.

Or better yet. Dueling Screaming Squirels down each side of the tower.

^ Cool your jets man. There will be an update when someone finds the time to actually get the photos of them removing High Roller. And remeber, it costs money to ride the freakin elevator!

John, AKA Mr.Stratosphere, works there. so he doesn't have to pay, he works for the ride department at the Strat.

as well for coastered, he said the track will be taken down in Feburary.

So be patient!

A friend of mine, i am not going to mention his name told me there could be a ride similar to the skyjump in New Zealand. He said there would be 320 feet of freefall, then the brakes would start to kick in and you would be slowly lowered to the ground. I hope he's right. I don't want another amusement type thrill ride up there, nor do I want the fishhook. Hopefully they will build this and nothing else to absolutely petrify the guests!!!!

^ Fatality if you would have read this thread from the begining you would have gotten this information! This was also on the first two pages so you didn't have to read far.

Kinda like one of the rides they originally proposed, where a coaster train dropped down the side of the tower and across Las Vegas Blvd.

Check out http://www.vegastodayandtomorrow.com and click on "dreams" to see how much this would have ruled! -Amanda

(Edit from waterviper- put your mouse over blank area above to reveal the link and site)

That was going to be made by Arrow. I remember all the fuss about it. People didn't want it because it would be noisy, so Arrow lowered the height from about 750 feet to 400 feet. Then it just hit snag after snag and eventually was scrapped.

Here is what that site said about it:

Protests from nearby neighbors helped to block construction of the original 800 foot tall (left) and the revised 510 foot ride at the Stratosphere. This Dream was proposed back in 2002. If it had been built, I'm sure that the Ivana, Allure and Liberty Towers would have chosen a different neighborhood.

The roller coaster would have dropped passengers from the hotel's tower and across Las Vegas Boulevard at top speeds of 93 mph

Residents said the roller coaster would discourage new residents from moving in and contributing to the revitalization of the area.

What They Should do is put in a tilt coaster that tilts from the towers top the twists around the tower and does totally wacked out inversions and is super smooth the ends back up at the top of the tower and there will be no need for a brake run that is super hard cause of having to go back up anybody agree?

What they should do is put in a tilt coaster that tilts from the tower's top then twists around the tower.

Then the ride does several totally wacked out inversions. The track would also be super smooth. The ride ends back up at the top of the tower and there will be no need for a hard brake run because the ride would have to go back up to the top anyways. Anybody agree?

Ouch. Watch your grammar, please.

That's a pretty crazy idea though.
