cal1br3tto Posted January 15, 2012 Posted January 15, 2012 ^I found a bit at the beginning, but overall I didn't enjoy it too much. However, because my affection for GCIs has grown since the last time I visited SFMM, I'm eager to reevaluate.
RCT3luvr Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Favorite steel: X2 Worst steel: Viper Favorite Wood: Apocalypse Worst wood: Grizzly
singemfrc Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Favorite steel: X2 (By far), Tatsu, Hurricane (That last one is a sentimental pick admittedly) Worst steel: There honestly isn't one I dislike..Boomerang (SFDK) would probably be lowest on my list of favorites. Favorite woodie: Giant Dipper (By far), Apocalypse, Colossus Worst woodie: Roar, Grizzly, Psyclone
Ed Farmer Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Best And Worst Coaster In California Um Um Umm... Like, well done.
Double0Kevin Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Best Steel: I'm fond of Xcelerator Worst Steel: Kong Best Wood: Giant Dipper (SCBB) Worst Wood: Morning

alpengeist04 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Best in order: Steel: Flight Deck, Xcelerator, Batman-TR, Space Mountain, and Tatsu. Wood: Apocalypse Worst: Steel: Vortex and Kong Wood: Grizzly
thrillseeker4552 Posted October 27, 2012 Posted October 27, 2012 Best steel: Tatsu at SFMM Best wood: Apocalypse at SFMM Worst steel: Viper SFMM Worst wood: Colossus at SFMM
thestripedtaco Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Best Steel: 1) Tatsu 2) X2 3) Xcelerator Best Wood: 1) Ghostrider 2) Apocalypse 3) Roar Worst Steel: The boomerangs Worst Wood: Grizzly Note: Ghostrider albeit very rough has given me the most fun I have ever had on a woodie and therefore is my number one woodie.
1pizza14 Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 Havn't been on that many Best: California Screamin' or Motezumas Revenge Worst: Ghostrider. Currently at the bottom of my list as the worst coaster I have EVER been on... like EVER
MayTheGForceBeWithYou Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 ^GhostRider was fun for a while (it was one of my favorite woodies), but when maintenance lagged, it got brutal fast. Pity, because it would be a really solid woodie if it wasn't torturous to ride.
KBrylczyk Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 ^GhostRider was fun for a while (it was one of my favorite woodies), but when maintenance lagged, it got brutal fast. Pity, because it would be a really solid woodie if it wasn't torturous to ride. I would swear I'm the only one left alive who LOVES Ghost Rider. I rode it for the first time in March 2011 (first ever visit to SoCal) and rode that thing at least 10 times switching between the front and back rows. I never found it to be overly rough or slow. It was an old-school rough and tumble woodie. It let you know who was in charge but didn't kill you, kind of like Wildcat at Hershey. Also, the airtime in the backseat coming off of the mid-course was terrifying.
thestripedtaco Posted October 29, 2012 Posted October 29, 2012 ^ Your not alone. I love this ride already, with a re-tracking I can't even imagine how good it could be.
Team Thriller Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Best steel - X2 (Found on my top overall 3) Worst steel - Kong Best Wood - Apocalypse (Yes, there is airtime. It may not be much but for anyone who says there isn't any at all must not be looking hard enough.) Worst wood - Grizzly -- James
Double0Kevin Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Best Steel: Tie between Tatsu and Superman Ultimate Flight Worst Steel: Kong (and sadly it's the best SLC I've been on) Best Wood: Giant Dipper @ SCBB Worst Wood: Grizzly (but honestly I like all the woodies in CA, Grizzly is just the tamest of the bunch). This topic is making me come to the sad realization that CA is full of mediocre coasters, nothing great (X2 is overrated) but nothing overly terrible. I guess I always knew... but i just didn't want to admit it.
Top Thrill Dragster Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Best Steel: X2 Best Wood: Apocalypse Worst Steel: Pony Express. Worst Wood: GhostRider. Its a shame too, this ride use to be so damn good.
coasterbear30 Posted October 31, 2012 Posted October 31, 2012 Best steel: Xcelerator or Superman:EFK Worst steel: Matterhorn (AWFUL) or Green Lantern:FF Best wood: Apocalypse hands down. This thing hauls serious ass at night and has a pretty decent amount of airtime (2nd to Thunderhead for GCI's) Worst wood: Grizzly or Ghostrider but at least GR has an interesting layout and would be fun if it was smooth
XYZ Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) Best Steel: Xcelerator. I think that Xcelerator is CA's only very good steel coaster, the rest are just good. Though, it's not great. I think X2 is over-rated as it really isn't that intense and all it does is flop you around. X2 is my 2nd favorite steel because CA has a mediocre steel collection. Worst Steel: Green Lantern. GL tries to kill you when you have a good spin. Best Wood: Apocalypse. This is CA's only very good wooden coaster. Again, it's not great. Worst Wood: I have no worst wood as I enjoy all of them. Maybe this will change when I get my Giant Dipper (SD) credit in a few weeks. You can see my top 6 coasters in California on my signature. Edited November 23, 2012 by XYZ
jray21 Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Best Steel - X2 Worst Steel - Boomerang Best Wood - Terminator (Not really any really good ones in CA) Worst Wood - Grizzly
singemfrc Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Best Wood - Terminator (Not really any really good ones in CA)Have you never been to Santa Cruz?
Condor Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Best steel: Tatsu (Runner-up Flight Deck. This coaster doesn't get enough praise. So what if it's short.) Worst steel: Kong Best wood: Ghostrider (even though it's a shadow of its old self, I still slightly prefer it to Apocalypse and Giant Dipper) Worst wood: Grizzly
intimidator305rocks Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Best Steel: Xcelerator Worst Steel: Kong Best Wood: Apocalypse Worst Wood: Ghostrider towards the front of the train (the back's fun)
PalmTree55 Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Best Steel = Tie between X2 and Xcellarator Worst Steel = West Coaster or Kong Best Wood = Apocalypse Worst Wood = Ghostrider
singemfrc Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Favorite steel: X2 (By far), Tatsu, Hurricane (That last one is a sentimental pick admittedly)Worst steel: There honestly isn't one I dislike..Boomerang (SFDK) would probably be lowest on my list of favorites. Favorite woodie: Giant Dipper (By far), Apocalypse, Colossus Worst woodie: Roar, Grizzly, Psyclone My favorites have changed significantly since my last post.. Favorite Steel: Superman: Ultimate Flight (SFDK), Tatsu (SFMM), Green Lantern (SFMM) Favorite Wood: Gold Rusher (CGA), Giant Dipper (SCBB) X2 is on the disabled list of my picks until it stops trying to kill me.
Gilly Posted June 15, 2013 Posted June 15, 2013 Best: X2 Worst: Superman has really disappointed me and I don't really like it, but I wouldn't say it was the worst. Maybe West Coaster or Hurricane (when it was still up) would get the raspberry here
