VF15
Was watching a YouTube video about Physics Day at Valleyfair in 1995. A physics teacher pointed at Corkscrew and said "I'm trying to figure out the lowest speed it can go through the loop without falling off." I can't believe it was a physics teacher that said that . rcjp
^Oh believe it! Last year when we were studying "the loop" in my physics class what we had to do was calculate the speed at which the train had to be travelling in order to make it without falling. Plus the loops were perfect circles, of course.
VF15
Yesterday at VF, I overheard someone say that you can touch the rails on Excalibur. Really? Even if was possible, it would be a great way to get yourself hurt.
gerstlaueringvar
"I'm not riding a coaster with loop-de-loop because it will fall off the track. It happened yesterday!" Â If by "yesterday" you mean 1800's, ok then.

Aw hell, I thought that was hilarious. I can see that being a caricature of oblivious GPers that overblow the stats of rides.  yeah, this one person actually believed it was true, so she told me about it and that's how i found out about it
MagnumFreak25
I was at Wild Water Kingdom yesterday and the person behind me in line said that "Gemini's like 700 feet tall and goes about 350 mph!!!!! They should build that here!"
canadianparkfan
Saw this on a TPR youtube video of Boardwalk Bullet at Kemah boardwalk.  This coaster is a DEATH TRAP!!! It pulled so much g-force that I KNEW the wood was about to rip in half. (Btw, I mostly mean UPWARD g force is what worried me). I could see my wife and kids and I spiraling into the Gulf of Mexico and me frantically trying to get out of the metal fold down harness to try and save them yet only watching us all writhe and panic as we sank deeper and deeper... Darker and darker... Untill..........  If he/she is referring to the airtime when they're complaining about the "upward g force", I don't even know what to say to that. I hope to god this was a joke. If not, I feel deeply sorry for this person  Seriously. It can't be that bad! it's god damn ****ing **AIRTIME**!!!
iloveblueberries
I remember when this thread was 4 years old. Â Weirdest thing I've heard was a friend way back said the new Revenge of the Mummy ride at US:H went 2000 feet deep underground and went backwards at 500 miles an hour
VF15
This news article calls Batman: The Ride at Six Flags Fiesta Texas the world's first 4D coaster. Sorry Fox 8, that title goes to X2. ALT2870
I've actually gotten this many times as a ride op for Cliffhanger (a Windstorm model): Â "Which part of the train is faster?" (Everyone else then gives that "Really?" look.) Â Oh, and this one, though somewhat more understandable: Â "Does it go upside down?" Â Remember, you can see the whole layout of the blasted thing... Cullvion
*Sigh* I have a confession to make... Â Yesterday, while in line at El Toro at SFGAdv, I caught myself saying that wooden coasters aren't safe. Â I AM THE GP!

Blatch
Lol at the unsymmetrical rails, lol at "Spiral" for the zero-g stall, and LOL at the wheel assembly! Â Now we just need to find out how to detach them from the track.

canadianparkfan
Not screaming on a roller coaster will make you pass out... I mean I guess if you hold your breath long enough. Even worse... People just simply ask in the youtube comments section on TPR onride POVs, Â "OMG OMG OMG OMG OMFG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!..... THAT RIDE looks SOOOOOOOOOOO SCAAAAARRRRRRYYYY!.... How THE HELL DO U NOT SCREAM???" Â Even worse when it's on videos of really forceless, boring rides like wingriders
rcjp
Now that would definitely make roller coasters dangerous!
ImNotOneOfYou
Person: Why does Magnum XL 200 have a lift hill? Me: As opposed to... Person: A launch  Person: I don't see what's so special about a roller coaster that just goes up and down (Wicked Twister)  Person: Blue Streak just has hills and a turn? VF15
On Facebook, several news sources are posting about the Colossus fire at SFMM, and a lot of ignorant GP commenters think that since the ride had closed, the park did it intentionally just so that they could get insurance money .
gerstlaueringvar
1. "Maybe they were trying to take down Colossus's lift hill by burning it" 2. "I think they planned to burn it down to draw attention, it's LA we are talking about" 3. "I saw that coming, told you wooden coasters are not safe"
YoshiCraft2011
Well, that's some bullcrap over here. RMC was going to take down the lift piece by piece, the fire was probably just an accident, and wooden coasters are perfectly fine! The GP can be really stupid sometimes. Defcon 9
While at kennywood i heard a guy in line for Phantom tell his wife that a tall guy once got his head cut off when they went underneath the Thunderbolt.
