willh51
Reading TPR coverage at IAAPA is probably my favorite thing you guys do all year! This year's crop of new rides is more exciting than the last. It's kind of interesting that the Thunderbolt train is on display since most people (including the comments from the TPR tour) have not been kind to the restraints and ride. Nice to see that Cheetah Hunt train getting some love, and the new Batman 4D trains look really comfy.
HWFan
Also, love the Puppet! That would be great for a haunt street performer! SFSL has one and used it for Fright Fest this year. The actress was amazing, which really made the puppet incredible. For a few of the nights she was within 5-10ft from the exit gates. People would get so scared that she would have to go to the other side of the front mall, escorted by a security officer, before they would get anywhere near by the exit to leave. A lot of people didn't like getting scared by it...at a halloween event.

Waltrane
Thank you Robb for the great update as usual. I loved the Joker animatronic. I'm hoping SFGa gets one next year. Now while I think the Twisted Colossus train looks great, I think it's going to look weird on the green and blue tracks. The color scheme just seems odd when you put it all together. cfc
I, too, am a bit surprised that you can still purchase a new Topple Tower. The new Intamin "dome theater" concept looks intriguing.
coasterkid124
The dome theater concept looks great. I'm thinking that with these rumors of Twister at Universal closing maybe this concept could be its replacement.
coasterbill
Here's a quick video of how the Joker animatronic will move in a few years, ignore the triangle staying on the screen the video is actually playing This post didn't get nearly the attention it deserved. HWFan
^ While I know it will take years to shake a lot of the old SF jokes whether it is cleanliness, ride maintenance, service, etc, if you pay attention, Jim Reid-Anderson's mindset could not be more different than his recent predecessors. He feels a lot less of the 1% corporate type attitudes that caused the mess in 2008. Instead, he is much more down to earth, including the dinners attended by the park presidents compared to Shapiro. He sends emails to the whole company quite often talking about exciting things for the company and each individual park always working in his personal experiences with his family in the parks. He even ends all of his email with any random song, movie, or book that he discovered and really liked (he really enjoyed Gone Girl, for instance). I'm a huge fan of his. Part of his new attitude and the way the parks are heading includes dark ride maintenance. Enthusiasts have complained because there are only two animatronics (even though they're amazing) with the ride, but it was partially done to make sure maintenance will be able to keep them running like new for years to come. But that was pretty clever, and I'm rather embarrassed due to how long it took me to get the joke.
cfc
^AAs can be tough to maintain for any park. God only knows that particularly rabid Disney fans tend to go nuts when some pirate isn't swinging his cutlass properly or some random ghost stops singing. If Six Flags is willing to do it right, more power to them. I think it's great that they're investing in new, high-tech dark rides (and that Cedar Fair is adding a new dark ride at Knott's). Guy T. Koepp
That dome ride by Intamin looks amazing Robb. I couldn't find anything else about it on their website. By chance did you get any information on that particular attraction? I would love to hear more.

coasterbill
I'm glad to see so much optimism and I wish I felt the same way but I actually feel like recently, Six Flags has been more frustrating than the Shapiro years or even the late 90's and early 2000's where there was a ton of closed rides everywhere. Lately the parks have been cost cutting at a ridiculous rate and while it's great that every park adds something new every year that doesn't make up for so many parks starting to close major rides hours before the park closes for the night which is completely ridiculous or doing things like leaving huge pieces of old rides rotting away in highly visible areas because they don't feel like removing them. I hate to be negative and I rarely am on this forum except when I'm talking about Six Flags but we find ourselves visiting their parks less and less every year because despite their awesome rides the way they run their parks is horrendous. Six Flags New England can't even have the effects working in Houdini's pre-show. I'd love to see this chain maintain these awesome animatronics but I just don't have any faith in them doing that. Here's a look at the KMG booth Always a huge fan of what accesso/Lo-q have to offer! Dino's taking over the planet! I really hope the "Origin of Life" attraction is a ride-through version of "The Making of Me!" (Minus Martin Short!) Another overview of the Fantawild model.
