3Mutts Posted February 20, 2013 Posted February 20, 2013 ^^ I have nothing against the Chinese people but some of the English names they pick for some coasters are odd (Angry Birds for a S&S El Loco? I can understand a kiddie or family coaster themed to Angry Birds but not a coaster with a 120* drop and 2 inversions). Likewise I think Dinoconda at China Dinosaurs Park is a pretty great name along with Extreme Rusher at Happy Valley Beijing.
markysharky17 Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 They have a rollercoaster called the wiener looping. Come on, for real?
Mechanic Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 They have a rollercoaster called the wiener looping. Come on, for real? Â Wiener looping opened in Vienna Austria. Germans, and Austrians, do not call the city of Vienna by the same name we do. They call it Wein. Does that help it make more sense to you?
Geauga Dog Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 ^ I don't get why people think that's a bad name. I mean, "Race for your life Charlie Brown" (The movie) is about a river rafting competition... and the ride is a log flume... I think it fits. Â I've never heard of it as a movie and to say "Race For Your Life, Charlie Brown" makes it sound like if he loses the race he's a dead man.
JRHcoasterki Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 ^ You've never heard of the movie??? Do you live on this planet??? And it doesn't sound like he's a dead man if he loses, it's just classic Peanuts humor. Say "Race for your Life, Charlie Brown" in a Lucy voice... then it wont be weird.
cfc Posted February 22, 2013 Posted February 22, 2013 (edited) It is a pretty obscure reference to a pretty old movie. Anybody remember the first Peanuts flick, A Boy Named Charlie Brown? That came out when I was a kid. Â I'm still waiting for "It's a Good Day to Die, Charlie Brown," or "Charlie Brown's Big Score." Edited March 30, 2013 by cfc

Does that help it make more sense to you?  Probably just a typo, but wein is wine in German  Yes, Wien, not Wein. It was a typo.
CorkscrewFoley Posted March 30, 2013 Posted March 30, 2013 Ignoring all International Names (Which don't count for this contest) High Speed Thrill Coaster... for a Kids Coaster Beaver Land Mine Ride... Whatever that means  With Beaver Land Mine Ride, you can go and slap the Beaver...
mangoman15 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 I just don't like any of the over used coaster names like wildcat or boomerang. Part of what appeals to me about riding a new coaster is anything unique about it, but when I ride something with an overused name, I don't feel like I should expect anything unique.
JonnyRCT3 Posted March 31, 2013 Posted March 31, 2013 Hill Billy Coaster Texas Bronco - Toy Kingdom (Tojo, Hyogo, Japan) Â dem' city folks y'all!
Coastergenius250 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 (edited) The SmilerRita In my opinion, Rita is an OK name, but not the Smiler. This is what this forum was missing, High Alltitude Rolling Sliding Coaster. Even Rollo Coaster, did Hershey Chocolates go into the coaster business? Edited August 18, 2013 by Coastergenius250
cal1br3tto Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Big Bad John...  wat I keep telling people I actually thought the Big Bad John ride sign was for an exceedingly well-themed restroom facility.  In fact, I was just trying to think of what the hell that ride was called and it took me a while, even though I've now ridden it.
gerstlaueringvar Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 10 Inversion Coaster, Dive Coaster, Motor Coaster, Youngstar Coaster… Anything in Chimelong Paradise!
805Andrew Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I think some of Cedar Fair's ride names when they rename things are pretty uninspirating, like Flight Deck and Drop Tower at CGA.
alwaysairtime14 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 Not a bad name, but I had no clue who Bizarro was until the Medusa/Superman re-theme that Six Flags pulled.
Coastergenius250 Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 An example of an Asian coaster http://rcdb.com/4207.htm
gerstlaueringvar Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 An example of an Asian coaster http://rcdb.com/4207.htm Trust me, the name exactly shows how the riding experience would be like. It would beat that crap out of you and let you get extremely because your head are BROKEN. Then you would get insane and fall in love with this knock-off SLC.
Noporian Posted August 18, 2013 Posted August 18, 2013 I'll add something. A coaster here in 2011 was literally named GUY. Ukko=Guy. Well i know it's a finnish god, but still it just makes me want to name a coaster woman.

But the fact that it translates to guy is pretty hilarious.
