chadster Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Wowserz ^Dammit! I'm missing a credit there. They might be too!
simaticable Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I blame the shark from Jersey Shore Shark Attack.
beatle11 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 (edited) ^ It's happening!! Edited October 30, 2012 by beatle11
Taylor Finn Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 It's scary as hell what is happening. Obviously, amusement parks are the least of the real concerns, but the most of our concerns. Hahaaha, either way... the picture of Coney Island was straight up frightening. NYC can't take much more rain, either. The water is *already* 60 inches high.
DougMJr Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I am so glad I'm on the other side of NY right now.
beatle11 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 This isn't really to do with a coaster, but wow! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OeRYtnJLTTU
thestripedtaco Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I wanted to make a joke but that looks so terrible it would be in very bad taste. Sure hope no one was near that.
Intimidator305 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I hope all the parks are okay, especially the 2 in Ocean City, NJ (Gillian's Wonderland & Playland's Castaway Cove). I visited there for the first time this summer and absolutely loved the town. It is also home of my 100th coaster credit, Python!
3Mutts Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Thank god I don't live down in the city, the whole area looks like a disaster zone. Also speaking of parks, I wonder if Knoebels and Hershey are getting serious flooding like with Irene.
simaticable Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Unfortunately, Superstorm Sandy (combination of Hurricane Sandy and a Nor'Easter) is not over yet. The Superstorm will be dumping large amounts of snow within the next 48 hours. Hope all is well where everyone is.
JonnyRCT3 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 This may sound wrong, but I wish every Boomerang / SLC coaster on the east coaster falls to the ground. I do wish everyone caught in the storm will be kept safe, and will awake from the storm without a single boomerang
NickP37 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I hope all the parks are okay, especially the 2 in Ocean City, NJ (Gillian's Wonderland & Playland's Castaway Cove). I visited there for the first time this summer and absolutely loved the town. It is also home of my 100th coaster credit, Python! The images that our tv stations were giving us of all of the shore points were pretty awful. This is from Atlantic city. Hard to believe I was there on that stretch of boardwalk last weekend.
Intimidator305 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 ^ That's insane and very devastating. Having been to all these places that are being impacted by this storm makes it a lot more realistic than something like Katrina since I still haven't been to NOLA. Please stay safe everyone in the northeast! I know here at Virginia Tech we have experienced very powerful winds and snow all day. Winds are reaching 60 MPH and they only seem to be getting stronger.
Rollercoaster Rider Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I don't know about all the coasters but a Discovery Channel special said that Lightning Racer can withstand Wind Speeds of Up to 100mph. Hopefully the Storm doesn't get worse.
ScottBrown Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 If the forecasts are accurate Cedar Point my have a problem as well . . . I can tell for sure from the webcam but it looks like the park may already be underwater
SharkTums Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 ^Well at least Thrill Shot was already knocked down!
coasterbill Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 They just showed Casino Pier on NBC in NY. It looks like most of the flume ride is gone, the same may hold true for the Star Jet at the far end of the pier but I'm not sure.
SharkTums Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Not going to lie...Start Jet is probably better off being an artificial reef in the ocean then beating people up any more!
Voxelmatic Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Okay, nothing down in my area (SFA, KD, HP) seemed to have any major damage. Heck, I didn't even lose power! So Hurler is still okay .
cfc Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 ^Yes, we didn't get hit all that hard in southeastern Virginia (Hurricane Isabel and Irene were much worse for us).
RideofSteel Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 From Six Flags Facebook: "Relieved to report that we are doing fine. All rides and animals are ok and there was no flooding. The offices will be closed most likely to Thursday, so we appreciate your patience. Our thoughts are with all of those affected by the storm."
netdvn Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 Luna Park and Morey's seem to have made it out of the storm alright. All the inland parks seem to be doing fine as well. Let's hope everyone else made it out okay.
vacoaster09 Posted October 30, 2012 Posted October 30, 2012 I wonder if insurance will go up or if they will mandate an increased height ordinance like they did to the people on the gulf coast because of katrina.. fair is fair.
