Six Flags Corporate Discussion Thread
bostonlva replied to davidmorton's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Screamscape was sent the email that Selim Bassoul the new CEO sent to the company (You can read that email at the link below). It seems like Six Flags will be restructuring the company and returning to a reporting structure where the park presidents report directly to the CEO, which I would assume means they will have a lot more say/power in how they get to run their park. http://screamscape.com/html/corporate_park_news.htm#SixFlags -
Good point. But you would think that they may want to announce this ride as soon as they can so they can get people to signup for the membership (new memberships and those that dropped it last year). The earlier they announce it, the more time they have for people to sign up for the membership right? Especially since SFMM is still the companies “crown jewel”? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So is Six Flags going to “officially” announce the coaster they are building at SFMM? Or are they going to wait until their yearly reveal date? Now that there will be people in the park it’s going to be pretty obvious to guests that something is being built. And it’s going to be pretty hard to hide it if the ride goes vertical before August. Yah. I mean out here in woodland hills there used to be a super car “show” every weekend in the Westfield Promenade and it was always packed. https://yelp.to/lMke30hN7db http://www.supercarsunday.com/about-us/ LA is one of the few places where something like this WOULD succeed. Looks like the 2021ish coaster for SFMM was conditionally approved by the city https://epicla.lacounty.gov/SelfService/#/permit/3f44c971-a566-49fc-95c9-7ae34f7382fd Here is the second request they submitted (Geotechnical Study) https://epicla.lacounty.gov/SelfService/#/plan/34b29751-f381-4f38-b9b3-2cfc55afe0ee Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The permits I linked to above are from the middle of October so I bet if we got a fly over this week, we would see changes. They didn’t. See the permit applications I linked to above. Even if it’s a 2021 ride I doubt it gets finished till The end of the year, due to covid Restrictions and such. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Looks like you are right and they are still planning on building the 2021 coaster, according to these permits filed this month https://epicla.lacounty.gov/SelfService/#/plan/34b29751-f381-4f38-b9b3-2cfc55afe0ee?tab=subrecords https://epicla.lacounty.gov/SelfService/#/permit/3f44c971-a566-49fc-95c9-7ae34f7382fd

Superman closes to save money during slower times. This has been a common practice for the past few winters. I think this was already covered, but one of the ride electrician supervisors has been tasked with procuring the working LSMs from Dreamworld in Australia now that Tower of Terror is closed. Hopefully we'll see all of the LSMs actually working at some point in the future and the ride actually (reliably) goes 100mph again... They have had a lot of LSMs go bad over the past few years and Six Flags doesn't allocate the budget to have them replaced/remanufactured so getting a bunch of 'still good' LSMs from Dreamworld could definitely extend the lifespan of Superman. And yes, maintenance intentionally under-powers the working motors to not stress them so that the motors' lifespan is extended. The park sill could (and does) launch the ride at 100mph, at least empty, but they would be killing a lot more motors a lot quicker if they were consistently doing full power launches. https://www.facebook.com/537015473442196/posts/many-thought-the-last-we-would-see-of-tower-of-terror-was-on-november-3-but-toda/791501241326950/ Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Six Flags Plunges to Five-Year Low on Warning Over China Parks https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-01-10/six-flags-plunges-on-warning-it-may-cancel-all-china-projects Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
Umm. Why was Apocalypse removed from the SFMM site? https://www.sixflags.com/magicmountain/attractions/apocalypse They list a bunch of other rides at the park as “temporarily closed” so if it was WCR related why not do that. Completely removing it from the site is weird. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
